hopefully they do the same with the Podcast app
They have probably to buy that one also...
I have come up with the idea that Apple is now too big and rich of services that they don't know how to make a simple reliable Music and Podcast app anymore.

Wait, am I missing something? The Weather app gives me rain notifications, as well as snow and other things. I can do everything I used to do in Dark Sky through the weather app on my iPhone.

Also…Steve Jobs killed plenty of apps…and if you don’t like what Apple has become, why are you still with them? Can’t dwell on the past if you want to move forward.
I can't find the rain radar map and prediction of the next hour on Apple's Weather app ... is it there somewhere. It's the most useful feature of Dark Sky for me, I can see the rain coming and dress accordingly for my daily walk. If Weather does not do this, can you or anyone suggest an app that shows the active rain radar movie and prediction?

I swear if I had a nickel for every time, someone said Steve Jobs would’ve never (insert thing they didn’t like here) I would be rich 😂
I know right? I wonder when, or even if it will stop. Funny thing is typically the thing Steve would never do is something he in fact did.

I am really, really going to miss Dark Sky. I am struggling with Apple Weather. DarkSky works SO much better where we are. We are living on an island with a flat end and a mountainous end, an area of more than 400 square kilometres. The weather is considerable different around the island, there can be rain on one side and sun on the other, even between villages. There can be strong winds where the ferry lands, while the other side is calm. I can store every single village in Dark Sky, but Apple Weather stores the island name, and that's it. I can't add another location on the island. Any other service in the UK e.g. MetOffice, BBC Weather, XCweather allows multiple locations here. So frustrating.

This is a bummer. Apple‘s weather app has improved, but I still prefer dark sky because the UI is so much cleaner and easier to understand at a glance. Apple’s own weather app looks more like an app to track your investments/stocks.

What exactly do you miss about Dark Sky? I've used Dark Sky and I initially loved its accurate hyperlocal precipitation notification. But its accuracy has waned after the first few years and the UI became convoluted.

IMO, iOS 16's Weather app does everything Dark Sky did, but more and with better UI.
How do you replicate this in the weather app?

Carrot Weather with Dark Sky's data was the best combination. I'll be sticking with Carrot but have to select a new data source. I never liked Dark Sky's radar view, which was inconsistent (look-and-feel, especially colors) with every other weather radar image I've ever seen, and now Apple's Weather app is the same way. Plus no option for fronts, storm cells, etc…

Since Apple still uses The Weather Channel as source in Europe, I guess Dark Sky Infos will be gone for me no matter what App. Dark Sky was a little more accurate for me.

Dark Sky was the first weather app that I paid for (since I was never a fan of Apple's stock weather app). I use Carrot Weather now, but RIP to the original goat weather app.

Steve Jobs would have never allowed this to happen.
What does that even mean? And how do you know that. He's long dead. His mind is no longer readable. Did you and him have some conversation prior to his death where he informed you that Dark Sky will never go away? Do you not think that lots of apps were removed on his watch. These kinds statements are pure fabrication designed to mislead and and misinform. How sad.

It would be one thing is Apple improved on the GUI in the weather app, but it's worse. They need to treat weather data and weather forecasts as data and have an expert in data visualisation guide their efforts instead of engineers and artists who apparently think bar charts with gaps between the bars (as if the weather disappears during the gaps) is suitable for a continuous time series.

EDIT: Why do I care about this? Because I live in Scotland with very unpredictable weather and therefore I check the weather probably about a dozen times a day...

We will miss you Dark Sky. You were worth every penny. Or 99 of them.

I will miss the notifications of incoming rain, the massive amount of weather info, the ability to go back in time to find weather, the great Apple Watch app, the customization, etc. I can go on and on.
you have no clue what Steve would or wouldn't have done.... Cracks me up when people say such silly things. Clime has room for you at it's table... come on over.
