Am I the only one laughing at the picture of a Milanese loop (a girls band if ever there was one), a Mickey Mouse face, strapped to a seriously hairy arm? To each his own, I guess.

The Milanese is unisex, and is the most beautiful band available in my opinion.

Oh well I like my white sports watch and I like the pink one your daughter has too. I don't think it looks cheap. Also got someone who is not used to wearing a watch I find the sports light and unobtrusive. The SS is heavier and I know it's there on my wrist.

To each his own, I guess that's why there's so many models and colors. I personally love the brushed finish of the Sport case to the shiny SS, but they're both attractive in their own way. I have sticks for wrists, and when I tried on the 42mm it looked silly...it was longer top to bottom than my wrist is wide, and it looked like it should curve down around my wrist.

My daughters sport edition finally came today and glad I made the decision to purchase the stainless steel.

Sorry to the sports edition buyers but in my opinion it looks and feels like a knock off to what the stainless is.
The SS just looks better and feels better. Heavier for sure.
The crown on hers also feels very plastic like.

For runners and such I could see why owning since lighter. I would definitely worry about scratching the sides.

I would also like to add my wrists are not huge and the 42mm is definitely the way to go. Her 38mm is tiny and meant for extremely small wrists.

Good for you! I'm glad you're happy and felt you had to share with the world how bad you thought the Sport was and justified paying so much for your SS. I love my Sport and think it looks great! No need to be sorry. I'm sorry you have to wear such a shiny watch.

Be careful with the Milanese Loop. I am returning mine because when you put the watch on unless you're super careful the band actually rubs and lightly scratches the casing when you tighten it. I too have a SS and love it :)

The pictures aren't flattering but honestly the Sport isn't that bad in the flesh.

Let's be honest, it is the "sensible" option if you don't want to invest heavily in a Gen 1 product that clearly is going to have some growing pains.

The sport with white band looks really nice in person. I'm going to order one for my wife.

I ordered a SS w/ BSB and cannot decide if I want the Milanese or the link bracelet as my other band. I will probably end up getting both eventually but will only get one for now. I just need to go do a try on and figure it out...

I must agree with op here. I have the sports and honestly it does feel cheaply made and if I'm putting in close to $500 I want quality. I made the jump and just ordered a SS as well.

I personally love the look of the 7000 series aluminum on my silver sport, has a nice luster to it without showing any fingerprints. Not sure how the crown feels like plastic to you, definitely feels like aluminum to me.

But I agree for the size, 42mm is for men.

Are you the only one here still flogging this "42 is for men" line? Grow up!
I'm 6ft, 45 inch chest, size 12 feet and built like an athlete (I'm a male model) and have 195mm wrists, but I wear a 38mm purely as it looks much better - based on my personal taste.
It boils down to whether you want a bigger looking 'smart watch' look, or a smaller 'watch' look.
Some people just have no taste - or would let popular opinion choose for them rather than make their own choices. We all can be in the mood for a fitted, tailored shirt just as much as wanting to wear a baggy casual 'day off' shirt...but personally I like my watches to fit correctly and discretely. Male/female vs watch size should really die right now. Do you also think pink clothing eg. a t-shirt or Liking cut flowers, espressos and shedding a tear at a film is only something women can wear/have/do? Or perhaps you just like to stir up arguments with your bold claims. Open your mind a little.

Agree I like the stainless steel, but the milanese is awful IMO. Looks like old cheap Knight's armour material. Should've chosen a leather strap.

They both look great but your SS Milanese is ##

I'm awaiting a 42" SG Sport and have to admit that, during the wait, I find myself partially wishing I ordered a SS Black Leather Loop. They just look so nice. I know it's a longer shipping wait but I'm in it for the long haul. Also like the idea of a more durable case and crystal. But I also like the SG matte look, the lighter weight, and of course the lower cost. So I'm sticking with my original order but reserve the right to either (1) buy a leather loop to go on my SG at some point in the future or (2) "donate" the SGS to my wife or sell on eBay and then upgrade when supplies are better.

I understand the reluctancy to pay for an Apple Watch considering its a little pricey but to say that the watch will only last 1 year is pretty inaccurate. These watches are very durable and the components don't need very many internal upgrades since they don't have any heavy computing. Its also unlikely that Apple realeases gen 2 next year. It will most likely have a longer upgrade cycle.

Hopefully the battery doesn't deteriorate too quickly. I'll be happy if I can get 2 years of use out of it.

I don't get why people keep making sly comments about the 38mm being for extremely small wrists. If someone wants the smaller watch, it is their choice. You won't force every woman to get a 38mm and every man to get a 42mm. You won't force every teen to get an aluminum watch, and every adult to get a SS. They made several choices because people have different tastes.

Deal with it.

Looks good OP. For your daughter I'm sure aluminum is suffice. I bet not every teenager gets the privilege of having such an expensive toy. She's lucky.

apple will be forced to release gen 2 apple watch by its competitors. Unless they have an ace up their sleeve tucked away in the computer inside the apple watch gen 1 that allows for some amazing upgrade.

Samsung and everyone will be all over releasing a better product now they have their hands on apples watch. Better design, better hardware, better software, all debatable but won't stop them trying.

people need to realize that Apple watch is NOT a handcrafted time-piece. It's not going to last you for decades. It's a simple, replaceable electronics that won't last you any more than 1 years (80% of people will get gen 2 next year).

so in that spirit, I will gladly take my cheap "knock-off" and save myself $250. Frankly, it's hard to justify paying 60% more for a case

80%... really???? what is this based on? No apple product has that kind of renewal rate. There's no way you could know this without knowing features of the new watch and buying habits of AW owners (how often they renew other apple electronics).

I, for one, am happy I paid the extra £250 (EDIT: £180) for the SS even if its just for a year. It works out to roughly 70p (EDIT: 50p) per day over a year to have something I, personally, much prefer the look of.

But in reality all of the conversations are dumb... each to their own, its a personal choice and I'm sure many people actually prefer the sport look to the SS look.

I could have bought any watch I wanted but bought a blue 42mm sport and a Milanese strap to dress it up. I hate watches with shiny metal cases that show up marks and scratches it just spoils the look of them. That's just my opinion thankfully there are different watch categories and straps for us to choose from for our own personal taste.

I still have my Cartier watch for fancy occasions which the Apple watch will never replace.

I'm still deciding which to buy,

I work on track in the rail industry and what with all the dirt and grime I'm exposed too I'm not sure which to get and even if it's worth wearing it for work.

Your thoughts are most welcome on this
