The store pickup page must be real time, as I've been able to watch scant stores across the country blink on, and then back off again. I continue to hold my breath and keep my fingers and toes crossed.

Love istocknow.com. New stock in TX just popped up. Now I just need it to pop up in MD.
Yeah that's a long way to go. No sure if you are near Baltimore, I'm hoping Towson, Columbia or Annapolis have in the next couple days . . . not holding my breath though.
Yep exact same thing happened to me. Order went through and then rec'd back ordered email. Just be careful because they will not cancel your order and will ship them whenever they get more stock. That could be tomorrow or 3 mos from now. I had to call to officially cancel.

I wonder if someone got on the Feb 8th "in store pickup" list but one became available through this method - would they fill the Feb 8th order that was first? Or can someone "snipe" the available for pickup pair immediately?

The thing is, I can't find the order on their site and have only received the email saying order was received. Holding out hope...
I now dub thee #AirPodsGate, just like #PencilGate but much worse, you would've thought apple would have learned from their mistakes during the Apple Pencil launch and supplied more, supply-and-demand, the more demand they have which seems to be should come with a much higher supply. I really don't want to have to wait until Jan or Feb, I'm hoping for a christmas miracle and they start speeding up production and start sending more and more to stores as days go by, I'm sick and tired of going to the store and hearing the same thing day after day.
Just checked at the Santan apple store they got zero today. They told me to come when they open at 10am.
I went to the Grove (In LA) & there were none this morning (and this was at opening)
I then went to the beverly center & they only received 3 (and I was the 4th person, lol)
I'm thinking I might try just ordering online & I'll keep checking stores periodically, but for the most part, I don't want to do anymore early mornings, lol

My local didn't have any and the other interstate stores were either extremely limited numbers that unless you were there at opening you were out of luck, or so I've been told.
The Phoenix Arrowhead location has 8am listed everywhere until you call the Apple Store Arrowhead phone number and they list special "holiday hours" as 10am - 9pm... which... are the same as their normal hours. Ugh.
