[DEAD] Discovery about AT&T & Verizon discounts, all of Facebook is eligible! [DEAD]

I just checked Verizon. 13% discount there on both voice plans and on the unlimited data plan (no discount on messaging plans or 150MB data).

Make sure you check your "Junk" folder in Facebook messages - it's at the very bottom of the page when you're looking at "Other". My Verizon e-mail went to junk.

What are all the AT&T discounts with it? I'd like to compare it to what I got for my college discount.

12% for service and on the 2GB data plan.

Not on AT&T. They started charging (something like $25 or $30) for FAN additions recently, although I'm not sure if this applies only to in-store FAN activation. I activated my IBM FAN over the summer and didn't pay anything extra. You can add/remove FAN numbers at any time on AT&T. I do not know Verizon's policy on the matter - I would be shocked if they required you to sign a new agreement - think of the scenario where you have been a Verizon customer for a few months and then you get a new job at a company where they offer such a discount - there is no way they could ask an employee to sign a new two-year contract just to claim their company discount.

I got my "New Messages" upgrade in roughly a day or two from when I requested it.

For what it's worth, I added my own AT&T FAN (IBM) after they discontinued the unlimited data option and had no issues whatsoever. I still have unlimited data and I get a discount on it.
 
When you add FAn to an existing accout, the discount just appears. I am FAN on an unlimited ATT and get the discount just file. The only thing not discounted is texting.
 
tried this the day the OP posted this and still havent received an invite from Facebook. Does it come thru email or a Facebook message?
 
for the last five posters. go back to page two of this thread and check out my directions. I was having problems getting the message as well. You have to be signed up for the new facebook messaging service and then follow my instructions. questions?

Yep. Send messages set to everyone. Saw your original post before I signed up. Still nada. Just a message on the original sign-up page: "You will receive your invite soon"

and you checked the "junk" inbox too? Once I got my settings right it was there before I could refresh. You're for sure set up with the new facebook message system too?

Yeah and I do not have any "junk" message folders either. When I click the Facebook messages link it takes me straight to a page that says "You will receive your invitation soon".

Unless I'm missing a crucial step - which is possible.

1) set up messages to everyone.
2) sign up for FB messaging.
3) your will receive your invitation soon.

Anything I missed?

If you can finish the entire setup process and get to the new facebook message system then make sure the setting is still for everyone to send you messages.

Then go back the att fan site and resign up using the new @facebook.com email address you just activated.

You will have an inbox and an "other" folder directly below it on the right left of your screen. It should show up in the "other" folder if you did all this right.

I can't use that link because I've already signed up so I get the "you'll receive your invitation soon" message.

Now, I'm trying to get the Verizon discount not AT&T but doubt that makes a difference since I do not have the @fb email address yet anyhow.

Sorry man, I know you're trying to help out. Maybe they are just overwhelmed on FB now because of Macrumors :).

No, you're doing everything right. The new message system is still in a testing phase so I think you're probably just part of the limited pack. Once you get it all set to go then it shouldn't be an issue. Good luck.
 
yeah I did everything stated in the OP teh day it was posted. Where is this junk folder youre talking about? Is this actually in the new facebook messages thing?

I have a FAN as a former university employee. It's 15% off everything except iPhone data. I share a family plan with a couple friends. It takes the difference off one of their Blackberry data plans, but not off my iPhone plan. 15% off the $30/month family texting feature though as well as the minutes.
