I think it's just luck of the draw. Google around and you'll see that some people get it immediately and for other people it takes days or maybe even weeks. They might just be getting slammed with requests right now.

I hope that is what is going on. I changed all the settings I could to "everyone" and still nothing. But I guess it is just a waiting game now.

Check your junk folder in Facebook Messages (once you've been upgraded to new messages and claimed your Facebook e-mail address). You click on Messages on the left, then Other beneath that. Then go to the bottom of that page, and on the bottom left area you should see "View: Unread Archived Junk". Click on Junk and check there.

Seems like the main issue here is people not getting the upgrade to the new messages system on Facebook. Once you have the new messages and have claimed your @facebook.com e-mail address you shouldn't have issues. Make sure your privacy settings are set to allow messages from outside sources / everyone as eternlgladiator has mentioned.

I think the issue here is still that this new messages system is in a testing stage. During Zucherberg's presentation to talk about this he said it would be testing for awhile and they would limit the number of people allowed to use it. I jumped on it right away so I wouldn't miss it. Besides this obvious benefit the system is really cool and makes for an interesting way to communicate with people.

Yes that is the issue. We are having trouble getting the new messages system. We are not having trouble finding the email from Verizon/ATT, in the junk folder, because we do not have a junk folder, because we are still stuck with the old messaging system. And I use the word we as in those of us having trouble with facebook allowing us to get the new messaging system.

AT&T wont allow me to apply the discount on their site. I have the facebook email adress and they have sent me the email but when i try to add my account, this is what it says..
"The wireless number you entered is not associated with this organization's account. To receive any discounts, you must add your wireless number to the organization's foundation account number. Register by going to the Online Validation Process web page and follow the instructions. "

do you think they closed the loophole?

I just followed through with this... got a message saying my number wasn't on the organizations list or authorized numbers or something like that but was able to follow a link and completed it under "Individual Responsibility" basically saying I was a member, employee, or student of Facebook. Obviously I'm a member, so I went forward, and I received a welcome to AT&T Premier pop-up screen.

I've already closed the screen, but it also made mention that this discount could be terminated at any time if it's determined that I'm not part of the Facebook organization and that it would take 2 billing cycles for any discounts to apply. So we'll see. If they give me AT&T gives me any grief, I'll just tell them that it said from the get-go members of the organization were welcome to the program, and that I am, in fact, a member of Facebook.

Ok I decided to try it out even if it messed with my Verizon iPhone order- scre it I'll just wait.

Figured out exactly where to go to plug in the FB email, typed it in got me email on Facebook and it looks like it worked. It did not take anything off our bill that is currently due but, if I look under our plan it says 13% off. We'll see what happens next billing cycle.

Ok I finally got my facebook email. Lets see what happens. Although I may wait until I get my iPhone from Verizon first. I can imagine that fiasco!

Where did you find it? Did it just come to you in, what is now to you, the old messages page? Still have not got mine so I am hoping I am not missing out on anything.

Just came to my messages page on FB last night. After that, I did a test from my regular email and it showed up in my FB messaging almost instantly. Signed up for FAN on Verizon and got a 13% discount on features- Whoopie!

Worked!

It doesn't tell me what my discount is, but look in the upper right corner, and it lists me as having a Facebook FAN #

I did the exact same thing. Let's make this clear now for anyone else considering this: If you are trying to apply this discount for an *existing* account/number you will need to submit the "Individual Responsibility Agreement"

I would say that the worst case would be that AT&T would kill the discount and then bill you for any discount you received. So a word of caution to folks. Even if this works for months and/or years and then you get busted down the road, you could conceivably receive a substantial bill for months/years of discount. I'm not sure if that is legally justifiable on AT&T's part, but I certainly wouldn't put it past them.

They won't do jack squat. My wife and I still have a FAN discount from her old company and we even told them she no longer works there. After 3 years they STILL haven't taken off the discount. Their loss in my opinion. We were honest.
