This game gives me a HUGE **** eating grin! :D Now I'm having fun, but as in I'm freaked out fun! This was what I was looking for in that other game. The first time I got mauled, I laughed. Is this weird?

The sound in in this game is great! I've jumped a few times already, because of it. The first time a communication popped up I jumped -- this is very SS-like. The setups where I can see the goal, but I just know there's something BAD in between me an it, are great. They have that horrorr movie moment, where you know you have to go that way, but you just know it's not a good thing.

I've only played up to fixing the tram, so I'm obviously not that far and I can imagine that things will get better!

I'm playing it on hard to prove my manly man manliness. Any game that has me running back up an elevator to escape is a good game in my book.

My only complaint is the mouse controls. They're kite string controls. For looking around it's good, but there's a diminished accuracy when going in for a tight aim. Now if they did this to keep the suspense high, than I'm OK with it, but I'd still prefer they tighten it up a bit. They really need to fix the menu mouse though, it's absolutely ridiculous and inexcusable -- somebody thought it would be funny to make the mouse cursor a challenge to control when choosing a game setting. :|

I bought a Belkin n52te in anticipation of this game last week and that was apparently a good choice, because the game knows it. Anyways, it's worth getting for the any PC and Mac game.

Thank you EA! You've earned my trust again.

^So I'm guessing the PC version is on the level(or higher as usual) as the console counterparts...cool:)

What spooks me out in this game is after a good fight with some of the necro and the tension is still high.....a video or audio log pops up and scare the *beep* out of me:D

The bridge level was awesome.....the lighting in that area was perfect to spook the player out.

Bless

Has anyone gotten to the part in chapter 4 where you have to shoot down the asteroids? I can't beat that part for the life of me! The damn gun moves around way too slowly, and it overheats even when I am limiting my shooting.

If anyone has any tips, PLEASE let me know!

^Really, I thought the gun controls felt a little loose for my liking.

Tip: Shot one gun at a time right for incoming asteroids on the right etc..
When the field gets flooded then use both cannons.....don't hold the triggers down just try to keep your heat level down. I died twice but that strategy worked for me...the zero-G before that was killer until I got the hang of it.

Yeah I had trouble with that part too.

Maybe it is loose, I'm not sure. Either way it just doesn't feel comfortable to me.

I've probably tried the gun part 7 times and couldn't get it. I'm getting very discouraged. I'm going to try using the right gun for the right side, etc. Thanks

The only visual difference on the PC that I know of, is that is supports multiple resolutions, Anti-Aliasing, and V-Sync --which jacks up the controls in the menu. But it's the same textures, models, etc. from the 360, so a light load for my mid-range PC maxed out on the settings.

The game is only 720p, so the textures aren't the sharpest I've seen.

I still haven't made it to the bridge. I'm swamped with work -- thankfully, so I haven't been able to get back and play the game for any extended period since Monday.

The video logs are EVIL. The first one made me jump and they suck for that. :D

This game on normal mode is too easy. When I first continued my game, it glitched and defaulted to normal mode. I didn't notice until I made my first save. Anways I had earlier saves that are set too hard, so I just had to backtrack a bit.

That message about it being a clear path to the morgue made me laugh. :)

The no oxygen areas are awesome.

EVIL babies!!!

Well what can I say.........what a great game!

Started playing it last night. Lights off, volume turned up high on the surround sound with the feeling of slight nervousness after reading a couple of reviews over last few days.

Only on chapter 2, but I'm hooked. Graphics are sweet, controls easy to get used to, developing story keeping me interested to find out more........

I did have couple moments where some 'noise' did leave my mouth. this was only in result to being suprised by those creatures. There was one that was lying there dead......well at least I thought it was anyway when I walked towards it ;)

Love it!!!!!!!:D

The line cutter........good times;)

Is it only me or does everyone stomp on all the corpse to make sure they're dead...in one of the beginning levels the woman just died and I stomped her to pieces.

I hate the flying necros that brings the dead back to life......bastards.

Bless

I didn't buy a line cutter. I put all of my nodes so far into maxing out the damage+capacity on the pulse rifle and the damage+capacity on the plasma cutter. They're like the SMG and pistol from RE4. :)

Same here, I CRUSHTIFY all corpses and in a few rooms have dragged them out with kinesis to stomp on them, in fear for those EVIL manta rays necro thingies!!!

The astroid shooting range was easy with a mouse. *hides* But, on the way to that level, I didn't understand that the astroids were coming from in front of me, not above, so died several times.

I hate the torch, because it messed me up during one of the boss fights. I was given ammo in the beginning for all my guns and this weapon is useless for range. i had to sell it, so that the ammo tallied out was only for my plasma and pulse rifle.

THis game is still very intense, but as my character becomes stronger, I'm not as freaked out as I was at first. :) I love this game, it's my cup of tea. There's only a few things I would change, but I'm not going to pass judgement until I've beat this on that insane difficulty -- even on hard, the game is somewhat easy sometimes.

EVIL!!!

Now I'm behind on my work!!!

This game is like RE4 was for me the first time. I can't stop playing and every time I think I'm close to finishing the game, there's more, and more, and more!!! :) I'm on level 9 now.

I wish there were more military weapons, or even different types of ammo for each weapon.

*HINT*
If you beat all of the the shooting range games in the military ship, it will give you a power node.

I noticed a thread on the Dead Space forum about the astroid field and how frustrating the controls were for some. There's another level later that's even harder than the astroid field.

If you haven't played past that point, don't give up, the game gets richer as it progresses.

Can you use stasis on astroids... *I Kid.* That would be cheese. This item is absolute cheese and if not for the regen-monster and puzzles, it's useless and as I guessed, a crutch for console controllers.

There are parts of this game that remind me of System Shock 2 and other parts that remind me of the first Shock. The a game/rec room feel like they are straight out of SS2 and the gooey gut walls are so familiar.

I'm liking this game better than RE4 on many fronts -- especially since RE4 was not one bit scary, but I'm a bit torn. In RE4 there was a random element with the shooting, that made even little skirmishes more challenging.

With Dead Space, I know how many shots it takes to kill each foe, so I always know when to reload, etc. I fallow a pattern each time, unless the situation calls for me to differ. I don't want impossible kills, like the big regeneration guy -- I hate this bastard, but since the game always has enough ammo laying around and you can buy it at any store, they should have varied how many shots it takes to kill these necros.

I've encounterd a few bugs in the game, where as the necros won't enter a door, so it's like an invisible force shield -- I'll run out of a room at first, if I can't get a clear view and the eery Alien-esc music kicks in.

This game needs RE4 type music for the calm areas, like that typewriter ambience, the twinkle twinkle little star isn't cutting it for me.

OK, I've rambled up another book.

I just got the game tonight!! FREE BABY! Thanks EA :D I get freaked out easy but damn if you all haven't got me wanting to crack it open and play. Hopefully I can make it through it... Only playing in the daylight for me.

FREE!

That's awesome! How did you manage that? :)

I JUST BEAT THE DAM GAME!!! :D This game was like a good cheese cake with a good cup of coffee, but scary!

While you play it on easy, I'm going to start on impossible now. :p This game really hit the spot for me and I'm absolutely looking forward to the sequel and playing it again on a harder setting! :)

I got to focus test at the EA campus here in Vancouver. For a few hours of my time and some dicussion: free pizza and a game of my choice by EA. They were out of Rock Band 2 so I took Dead Space. Hope I get to do it again :) Saves me some bucks.

That's sweet!

I finally beat the asteroid part, and by "I finally beat", I of course mean one of my much more talented friends beat it for me. The regenerating dudes are terrifying!

I just started playing this game... only up to Chapter 2 so far but I really like this game.

I especially love how necromorphs sneak up on you and when you look at them the music changes dramatically, it can get pretty intense at times. Awesome.

My only beef is the mouse control is kind of sloppy and not as tight as it should be, even with v-sync off, aiming feels like I'm using an analog stick and not a mouse.

Yeah, the controls are sloppy for PC game. After I turned off V-Sync and turned the sensitivity to max, it tightened up my controls to where I could hit where I needed when I wanted. Prior to that, I noticed it would skip past where I was trying to aim and this made things more difficult.

Something else to think about, I heard that a laser mouse will cause additional problems. I have a MX 1000 laser mouse on my Mac, but just a MS optical on my PC, so I can't say if this is the case.

They intentionally slowed it down in aim mode, which you had to have noticed, and I know this was done because the AI was balanced for thumb-stick -- this was lazy on their part, but kind of anticipated since the game was a 360 to PC afterthought.

This game is a light load for most PCs, but it was not fully optimized for multi-core systems. Hence another reason V-Sync is unusable. When I run it in a window, I can see two of my procs are being used -- one at 100%, another at about 80% -- the other two are left pretty much idle. They really need to patch this engine and do some further optimization. Fallout 3 as an example, technically looks much better than this game and runs without a problem on my system with V-Sync enabled and setting on ultra -- its mouse control is excellent.

Overall the game was easy when playing on hard and it's not that much more difficult on impossible. I stopped using the stasis on anything killable(with my guns) after I got my mouse controls worked out. It's an unnecessary item, it's nothing more than a crutch for gamepads. If I could change one aspect of this game, this item would be gone. If not for the puzzles, it would be completely unnecessary and in some ways I felt like I was Isaac the sorcerer, not Isaac the engineer. Every time I was required to use this cheese-item, I thought, why couldn't they have just let me pull the panel off the door and short-circuited it or something similar. Why was I require to use magic, instead of my engineering skills.

I didn't mind the kinesis though -- which is kind of like magic, this item is extremely useful. If I were to change it though, I would make it a grapple. I figure any space dwelling person would need some way of grabbing or latching onto an object from a distance.

Anyways, I love this game enough that I'm forgave it for its obvious PC sloppiness. It was scary in parts and intense all of they way through. I found it thoroughly enjoyable and I look forward to further games in the series.

A Dead Space enhanced that truly takes advantage of a PC would be welcome though.

Fallout 3 uses all four procs and it generally runs at about 25% load on all four, so it's using less CPU than DS(180%). It only spikes my procs at 100% occasionally, instead of constantly like DS does, which does so even idle.

Anyways, DS is a great game, so eh.

I haven't beaten this game as yet....I have so much on my plate but last night I got around to finishing chapter 5 and damn this game still got me on the ends.

guys please tell me <spoiler: this is the last of the regenerating necro/spoiler>

I'm actually up the creek right now with limited ammo and no health packs....the store is so expensive...the line cutter ammo is around 2,500 for two rounds:eek:

I posted a reply ealier, but it disappeared.

Here's an answer that doesn't spoil much:
"IT" comes back two more times.

That evil religious tard thaws it out.

The first time you can not kill it, so you'll just need to avoid it for a period of time.

The second time you will be able to KILL the EVIL, but I won't say how, because it's pretty obvious when that time comes. :]

If you haven't already, invest in maxing out your plasma cutter, it's ammo is abundant and it's a great weapon all around. As a test, I saved my game and filled in all of the empty nodes, but it didn't provide any bonuses -- bummer.
