I'm around chapter 9 now, this game just gets better and better.

I had a lot of trouble with the asteroid part, but after that its been pretty smooth sailing. Spoiler: There is indeed another part with the same shooting mechanism later in the game, but I actually thought that part was not only much easier, but also really fun. The baddie on the hull was very well done, The battle was hectic but not overwhelming, and it was very satisfying when he was floating away.

I really want to finish the game before tomorrow, because Gears comes out!

Hey guys, any of you running dead space on a unibody macbook pro? If so, do you face any issues? Mine has been crashing and crashing. I play for awhile and all of a sudden I get a black screen. There's still audio but I can't do anything else except force a shut down.:(

Finished it as well, it's a shame this game might not get as much attention due to all the other games coming out, but it's awesome. I rarely play games to completion these days, but I didn't stop playing this till I beat it.

This and Resident Evil 4 are the only game I've played in a long time, that I played more than once.

I'm halfway through impossible mode. The game's hard difficulty should have been at this level and this difficulty should have been truly impossible, or at least frustrating.

I'm assuming you guys have played RE4? If not, it's worth looking into if you like this one -- I recommend the Wii version. :)

@ shauny89,
That sucks. I would try changing game's graphic settings to low and see if that makes a difference. Even try a lower resolution than you screen's native rez if the above doesn't help out.

Funny stuff as usual and I agree with many of his points, but I still loved this game in a sick way;
Zero Puncuation's review of Dead Space.

I bought the ripper he mentioned on my first play through, I tried it near the store, thought it would be cheese, so I reloaded my game to get my credits back -- I'm glad I did so, because he confirms it is complete cheese -- it's too powerful. This is why I like the plasma gun the best and it's pretty powerful when upgraded.

Just like RE4 and its bonus unlimited ammo weapons and that STUPID PLR, I avoided them after trying them out, because they completely take away from what makes that game worth playing.

I like a challenge and I wish Dead Space would have been PC first, so that the stupid stasis vomit would have been left out, this way Isaac could have been an actual engineer and not a wizard. The game would have been more challenging.

I'm just glad it was made for the PC -- even if it's an afterthought. On a cynical note, I should be happy that console sells have panned out like they have, where as the 360 and PS3 didn't become the next PS2, because that would have been almost certain death for PC gaming -- since MS abandoned it, not realizing it was just as important for their software as enterprise. So hurray for Nintendo.

Considering Dead Space is several years old now and instead of continuing to monopolize the Dead Space 2 thread, decided to resurrect this old thread. :D

Listen, I'm not all that ***** hot a player and as of about Chapter 5 and the Cryo Lab Emergency Room I'm wondering what I've gotten myself into. Yes it's fun when I live, but not when I have to repeat an encounter 10 times. The locked room with the regenerator suck-a-lot. I finally got through it, freezing the regenerator and line/force blast'n the other mobs. This is like too much work. :p I really wish I could change the game difficulty on the fly. Play'n in it on a 360, I really wish I had a mouse here.

Well its been a couple of weeks since I finished it now, and I'm not sure if its indicative of the game but I have to say I do not have any real 'memorable' moments and it's only been a couple of weeks. Strange because I enjoyed it, but just don't have any 'oh remember this part' 'this part was awesome' memories.

So far, some hard fights (for me anyway) outstanding atmosphere, but I agree with you it is more of the sum of the whole instead of any particular memorable events. But I'm not finished yet. I'm in hyponics. :)

Yeah, you guys nailed it and when I think abou it, that's how I feel about Dead Space. As a whole is why I like it, which is a good thing, because these are the games I replay.

Thinking back, there aren't many games I've played in recent years that have had key areas that really stood out. Maybe Mass Effect, but even with that game, which I enjoyed so much, it blurs together in parts.

I haven't really been wowed since my early twenties, so back when 16-bit was POWER. :(

This is a great subject for a thread- emotional moments, but wait there is all ready one of those. I'll revive it.

To summarize, I remember yelling holy ****, when I realized I was doing the bidding of a computer in System Shock 2. I was saddened when I had to chose who was going to die in Mass Effect. I all most **** my pants when I saw an alien bounding down a long dark corridor in Aliens vs Predators. I was disturbed when Dom finally found his wife and spoiler>ended up shooting her in the head<end spoiler. I'm waiting for this kind of moment in Dead Space but I acknowledge that as time goes by you become more immune, but you'd think if it was still good, it would still touch you.

I had no problems with who I wanted to let die in Mass Effect. It wasn't Ashley. :D

But stupid me for thinking that Mass Effect 2 would be harder if I started out as a new character -- based on my experience with other games, like Dead Space. So I ended up in a story that did not reflect my choices of the first ME, so Ashley was dead.

So how far into the game before you figured that one out? Was she your girl friend? :p I started ME2 and then fizzled. The BTDT syndrome hit me.

I found that out right away. AND NOooOOOOoOoOoO, she was not my girlfriend :p , but her and Liara were my support team. :)

That's the one thing I liked about ME2 btw, is that it made it so that I Had to mix up my team more. Where as in ME, it was always the mentioned two and I'd do most of the killing as they were ordered to a safe point.

I'm trying to remember what I did when I started ME2. I think I went with a new character, cause I didn't think there was any advantage? Or I continued the old character and something I did not like? It's so foggy now. (One of my more helpful posts.)

The only advantage of starting with a save, is that you get more resources in the beginning, so nothing big.

But at least the story will somewhat reflect your prior play through, even though no matter what you did in ME, it didn't really effect how things played out in ME2.

I like the model I created for ME2 better than the one I created for ME. I needs to find out how to transfer the appearance. :)
