Are you talking about version 0.18? If so, it does not work like a charm. The issue with moving/copying files using tabs is still there. Annoying as hell.

OK, I tried what you said and this is what I found here:

-If I drag a file to another tab without XtraFinder it works fine

-If I drag a file to a tab with XtraFinder and immediately drop it on that tab, it screws up dragging just like you say (I have to restart regular finder to restore it)

-If I drag a file to a tab but wait about one second, it will switch to that tab and I can drop the file into the directory normally without issue.

I never ran into the bug because I don't drop files onto tabs (I use dual-pane which is awesome) and frankly, it switches to the tab so quickly, I don't see it being a huge deal to put up with until he gets a fix. At least I can use XtraFinder's other nice features like dual-pane and tabs that actually LOOK like tabs (and has a nice new tab button that Apple does NOT include for reasons that just utterly boggle the mind. Honestly, I'd FIRE most of the developers working on OSX. I mean THAT is what they came up with for the entire past year (or from my perspective, the entire past decade)? XtraFinder's presentation just BLOWS IT AWAY and that's being nice. I mean is it really too much to expect Apple to come up with some finder improvements over the course of 12 years? I mean seriously? I REALLY missed dual-pane for the past month (well OK I was on a cruise for half the month so I didn't miss it too much :D)

They should just BUY the rights to use XtraFinder in OSX from the guy (I mean he's giving it away for free so I think he'd be thrilled to get some moolah) and do it right. But no that would be too logical. OSX's finder has to suck. I mean why didn't they just offer a dock for each monitor like the menu bar? If you use a side-dock, it doesn't move and that sucks (not to mention many people hate the new brighter side dock look). No, that would be too logical to have a dock on each screen, so they make the dock MOVE instead...but it's buggy. And it only works for a bottom mounted dock. Apple sucks sometimes....

Yes, I still use it even if I got really used to just dropping the files directly on the tab. It's just something that I got used to do while working and now it's hard to live without but I can't still live without Xtra Finder.

I totally agree with you when it comes to how Apple decided to implement tabs and I can't understand how they don't just pick the best features from all these Finder add-ons and introduce them directly in the Finder.

Oops, I have completely overlooked that the App hade that many problems. I thought the only problem was with "folder on top".

I wish the Xtrafinder developer started to charge a small fee for the App and got more serious with updates. For now, TotalFinder seems to be a much more reliable option.

That many problems? I count one and Mavericks final has only been out a few weeks. Given it's FREE and TotalFinder costs $18, I can put up with one tiny bug I never even noticed. Frankly, I think the author of Xtrafinder has been very good about updating it and updating it often.

Still some problems with Mavericks and the latest version here.

Items on the Desktop don't refresh immediately. When adding an item to the desktop it's not shown, I can only see it in the desktop-folder, but the Desktop itself remains empty. After some time, restarting Finder or after a reboot it suddenly appears. Same goes for removing items on the Desktop: only the desktop-folder refreshes, but it's still (visually) on the Desktop itself.

I just tested it here. I don't see that problem at all. There is a known problem with dragging directly to a tab and just dropping it on the tab so if you're just dropping it on the the desktop button, that might do something odd. Nah, scratch that. I just tried that and it worked just fine too. It must be something specific to your setup.

Yeah it's annoying. Click and drag on the desktop to refresh it. I hope they fix this soon.

I also got the same problem. I found that unhiding/hiding hidden files makes them visible.

Can't get drag drop to work at all when xtrafinder is enabled. Even dropping into tabs. It actually doesn't initiate any action at all for me. Wonder what's conflicting in my setup.

When you drop a file directly into a tab once, nothing happens and dragging stops working altogether. Relaunch Finder, then XtraFinder and then try dragging and dropping something directly into a folder or something.. do not drop anything directly on tabs because that feature in particular is still broken and gives you that results.

Is this an XtraFinder related issue? I thought it is Mavericks itself ;)

Ah you're right, relauching both does get it back. I was assuming it just would not work with xtrafinder at all. Hope an update comes soon.

Absolutely. I've only been using it a few minutes but love the functionality and also that it's FREE. How many Mac apps can you say that about that provide so much flexibility and usefulness?

Hats off to the developer. He hit a home run with this.

I've been using TotalFinder for a long time in prior versions of OS X and it is NOT bug free. I'm actually trying Xtrafinder for the first time on 10.8.5 and it's working much better than TotalFinder 1.5 so far. More responsive, same great features I use. For now I'm sticking with Xtrafinder! By the time I upgrade to Mavericks, the bugs should be ironed out. :D

XtraFinder has been updated to 0.18.1 today. The bug where dropping a file onto a tab caused an issue is now gone. If other people had any other issues that still exist, I'd be curious to know what they are.

Nice, thanks for letting me know! I quickly read the changelog and it didn't mention that (or I did not see it). Glad it's fixed! The desktop refreshing thing is gone too :)

You rock dude!

Installed update and having no issues whatsoever. Thank you Xtrafinder man. You are my hero! Can't say enough about making this app completely FREE! Most apps for Mac are priced way too high. This is absolutely no cost and makes the default Finder a POS by comparison.
