The subscription is the same as one dinner out for two (for family license). And you know what happens the next day with your dinner. With 1P, you have 364 more days of use. I know which I prefer.
You buy a license, so you own a license if that. You technically don’t even own the iPhone because Apple owns the operating system. There were articles how farmers don’t even own tractors anymore because John Deer owns the operating system of it.

Then have at it! In all sincerity I'm curious to see how it'll play out. IANAL, but I'm guessing Sirius XM got shot down since there was some wording combined with the the circumstances say they couldn't legally back down. AFAIK, perhaps 1P's EULA says says something different otherwise?Well, if that's the writing, fine. They can evolve, but as a customer I can still feel jobbed by it.
Since someone mentioned SiriusXM as a "subscription", here's what I'll tell you. I bought the lifetime sub. They tried really hard to remove those features or make me pay. Two class-action lawsuits later, and I have my free sub back. I listen to them all the time. I backed them when they needed the money. They got greedy, and they were told they couldn't screw people just because they felt the deal was bad now.
I wish someone could do that to 1P. For those of us who bought software that was licensed, it seems disingenuous that they continue selling a subscription, but they take away that option for license holders.
The writing on the wall should be another lawsuit.
And it's interesting that Sirius XM's lifetime subscription (where you pay only once and get to use it "forever") got pointed out. It seems companies have learned this isn't a good idea. That's why no companies now offer a 1-time license, nor lifetime subs in business cases where they need recurring income for the long haul. Can someone name some examples where you have an option to pay monthly/annually, or do a lifetime sub?
I meant lifetime subscriptions now. They just don't seem to be a thing anymore :\ That said, i hear some TiVo users are still rocking their lifetime subs!TiVo. And I did it long ago with Feedly, though I'm not sure whether that's still a thing.
I assumed as much, and TiVo does still have "All-in" plans, but I see that Feedly has indeed gone subscription only.I meant lifetime subscriptions now. They just don't seem to be a thing anymore :\ That said, i hear some TiVo users are still rocking their lifetime subs!
Ha same here, though I only had 1 of my 3 on lifetime. That said, I think they mean the unit's lifetime, not ours!I have 5 Tivo's with lifetime subs. Three are retired due to tech advance, storage limitations. So much for lifetime.
Grab a good free KeePass client and forget 1Password ever existed. I used 1Password for from v.2 to v.7, but refuse to participate in its new investors' v. 8 "All your passwords belong to us" cash grab. I now use StrongBox on MacOs and iOS, and KeepassX elsewhere. Once it's set up, it's pretty seamless.Only work well if your entire ecosystem is Apple.
I have Linux and Windows so is a bum.
I recently moved more than 1,200 records from 1Password to StrongBox, so... yes?Do people really have THAT many passwords?![]()

Funny thing - I sent a request to their support to ask how to upgrade to 1Password7. I specifically asked for a license. Got an automated response from sales with subscription pricing for 1password 8.
About 700, give or take a few.Do people really have THAT many passwords?![]()
This is what I use on all my devices. Such a great app...works on Windows, Mac, iOS, iPadOS…A better deal would be to use Bitwarden for $0/year, or $10/year if you want 2FA support and a few other features.
Bitwarden has Windows Hello for way less money, FYI…As a long time user of 1password standalone I decided to subscribe to 1password last year. I have no regrets and the features it offers is worth it in my opinion. I use it also on windows PCs and a recent update added support for windows hello which makes it a lot easier when accessing password all day.
I will give it a try, but I have a 1 or 2 year (can't remember) 50% off deal with 1password so after that I can look at other options.Bitwarden has Windows Hello for way less money, FYI…
