I think the sweet spot is $350 and maybe $400 at the top end. AirPods should settle to $99, Pro to $199 and Max to $299. But Apple didn't budge on HomePod and killed the product instead of lowering the price so it's clear that Apple would rather price their products at a premium.

They should have done whatever they had to do to launch these at $299...maybe $350. I mean, good lord, for over $500 you can't even include a decent carrying case that similarly performing headphones do at $250. Like the HomePod, they shot too high and missed.

Same guy, replaced 4 times, is highly suspect. And, in his tweet he said he is going onto his 5th Max for battery issues.
So we agree. There is not enough detail to evaluate the statistical likelihood of failure.

They did lower the price of the Homepod $50 once. But they are not in the business of repeated cuts in price. But I think they had all the sales data they needed when their major vendors like Target and Best Buy had repeated sales at $199....that was probably cutting it close in terms of profit margin (considering all the hardware it had) and if it is still not flying off the shelves even at that price, it was time to discontinue.

I don't see this Max reaching $300, they will probably discontinue it before it reaches that price.

I see this more as a niche product than the earbud airpods. Most people are more than fine with $200 airpods to meet their daily needs.

Just wanted to add my user input. I bought during the Adorama deal; I originally wanted to wait until I saw $399, but after a month of use the $449 value then, is very inline with what you get for these. No technical issue for my pair, and I have been very happy with the sound quality, comfort, and connectivity. I do recommend these!

Why are you saying it like the fifth pair is different from the fourth replacement. If you replace something four times, you’ll be on your fifth item, that’s just how numbers works.

I thought AirPods 3 would be introduced at around $99 but I think Apple just has no interest in that market despite when they were introduced they were the low cost leader.

I'll pick them up if they hit $350. Quite happy with my AirPods Gen 3's but it would be nice to have over ear noise cancelling headphones when flying.
