I think there's a strong chance Apple simply quietly updates (outside of the keynote) the 16" mbp w/ an intel chip. Unfortunately, it wouldn't even be Tiger Lake because intel doesn't have those 45w variants available yet.
This is exactly what I was thinking, hence I am almost sure that next week Apple would announce arm based laptops.

I think this is a banging deal for the only last desktop replacement Apple makes will ever make.

Solid machine, great screen, good keyboard, EGPU and Windows-capable.

Three/four years ago, I would have bought this without hesitation.
Apple isn’t switch their entire Mac line to ARM overnight or over a year or two. Intel will be king for high end until they can ramp production of current A14 and design more high powered varients into the A15 and A16. They said so themselves.

Early ARM Macs won’t whack an serious intel Mac . Even Apple has forewarned us of this simple fact.
I'll wait until I see it, they have some pretty serious computation power. For me its just not the processor speed, its battery life and a few other things that I'd be curious to see with an all mac hardware system. I really want one, but I know Apple and their first gen woes which will keep me on my intel mac for a while.
