Haven’t the rumors said that the upcoming iPad Pro models will remain largely unchanged, in terms of the outside? Do we really think the current magic keyboard will become obsolete so quickly?

It could really go either way but if the current one holds up as badly with wear and tear like the previous iPad Pro keyboard offerings from Apple one will buy a new one with every iPad anyway I guess.

This approach is not limited to Apple...it's called capitalism. It is literally the basis for (nearly) all corporations and businesses.

How dare you expose a Macrumors discussion to common sense?

Joking aside you are of course spot on.

It's worth noting the 12.9 keyboard is also discounted, but via coupon at checkout, to like $249 or something like that. Still shipped and sold by Amazon.

Why is it not like that on my Amazon and it’s still regular price. I’m in the US

Oh my God, people are still complaining about this device, and it's price?

I personally can't wait for the new soon-to-be-incompatible iPads so that I can buy the current one and this "useless" stand/backlit-keyboard/trackpad/pass-thru charger/travel case at a discount.

Then again I'm of the mind that I prefer to use an iPad as a laptop when appropriate and as an iPad when appropriate.

Sadly, you cannot do that with a Mac.

I actually got the keyboard at $199. I really like it, considering the Logitech is $159, this isn’t too much of a stretch. It is heavy but I only use it like that in laptop mode, when using my iPad Pro as a tablet, I swap it for my cover case. Keyboard is excellent and easy to type on. I actually wish that Apple would implement the same mouse pointer solution for the Mac.

Other than buying a non aluminum case material on my first Apple Watch, it’s a purchase that I had the most buyers remorse. It’s extremely overpriced and the quality of the material is questionable. It’s a 100-50 dollar keyboard. I’m sure sales are “disappointing” to Apple.

To each their own. I really tried to make the iPad Pro 12.9 a suitable laptop replacement but I found it inefficient and at times frustrating to get simple tasks done. I gave it a 6 month run before throwing in the towel and bought a M1 MacBook. My wife loves the iPad though and uses it as a tablet. The MK sits, unused and difficult to sell.

Oh and it is very ovepriced, so there’s another “complaint”.

I can agree that the iPad is not for everybody, and it is definitely NOT a direct laptop replacement for those used to or actually want a desktop OS. You have to know thy self beforehand.

However, it is the preferred computing device for many, and the MK helps to bridge the gap for tasks that require text editing in particular.

Whether or not the device is overpriced is somewhat subjective, but what is objective is that it is priced comparably to the sum of individual Apple offerings that offer similar functionality.

In other words, Apple simply rolled their folio, keyboard, and trackpad into one device, added backlighting and pass-thru charging, and then combined the price of the three separate devices (plus a little more).

Thus, getting this for $100 off is a killer deal. You're basically getting the folio, or trackpad, or keyboard for free.

Got mine from Amazon yesterday. Bought a "Used - Very Good" one for $175. It was NIB but the box was a little damaged. I feel like my iPad has a whole new world of usefulness now. It's definitely not a laptop replacement but is now way more practical for tasks that require text/chatting or typing, two things I do a lot between work and grad school. I do feel like they need to add another camera for landscape orientation...
It was a complete non-starter at $300 but $200 got my attention and $175 sold me.
