Given that this MacBook Air hasn't even launched yet, this is the first major discount on the notebook that we've seen. This is a pre-order on Amazon, and orders are estimated to arrive sometime between June 16 and June 20.

Likewise, there's a discount on the 512GB model, which is available for $1,449.99, down from $1,499.00 in select colors on Amazon. You'll find the same delivery estimates for this model, hitting between June 16 and June 20.

The new MacBook Air comes with a 15.3-inch Liquid Retina display, M2 processor, MagSafe charging, two Thunderbolt ports, a headphone jack, and more. For a full rundown on what's new in the MacBook Air, be sure to read our launch post.

If you want to save even more money, this week we've been tracking deals on the 2020 13.3-inch M1 MacBook Air and 2022 13.6-inch M2 MacBook Air, all of which are still live. Be sure to visit our full Deals Roundup to shop for even more Apple-related products and accessories.

any discounts on 16gb?
If you want 16GB, that requires a custom-built order through Apple. Every standard default configuration is 8GB. I guess Apple thinks most people only need 8GB. And they want $200 from you to upgrade to 16GB.

If you want a discount, go through Apple Education store to also get the $150 (back-to-school) Apple Gift Card and lower memory upgrade charge ($180 vs $200)

16GB / 256GB 15" MBA is $1,379.00
16GB / 512GB 15" MBA is $1,579.00

Or apple wants us to buy it from the apple store

The fact that Apple still sells laptops with only 8GB of RAM tells you everything you need to know about Tim Apple.
Also tells you everything you need to know about the position they're in

Since people will buy the stuff anyway (myself included, to some extent ) , why would they refrain from milking the cow forever , more and more ?

Tim might be an ******* (could have said a$$ lol) , but he's merely doing his job and obeying what the investors and ultra capitalism dictate.

Perhaps jobs would have done differently, who knows ? You really need to be a profound person and excited about tech in order to say NO to that kind of money

Greed is sad, and Tim Apple is one of the greediest people I've ever seen.

I needed 16GB so I ordered the 15 inch from Apple. 8GB of memory is just too low in 2023. I can live with the smaller 256GB of storage (even though that’s too small for 2023, also) but I just cannot compromise on memory. Apple loves forcing that compromise on their low-end devices to push you towards something you don’t really need/can’t afford.

I'm sure your laptop works great for surfing MR and checking your email. OS's alone can take up more than 4GB of RAM nowadays. 8GB is a disgrace.
people like you are the reason why apple can keep rising up the prices whilst keeping the same specs, nay reducing some (m2 ssd), and make every improvement "paid" , like redesign of m2 = +300 euros

such acceptance for a brand that cares not about you is sad

Is he though? wouldn't any CIO do the same ? we will see what happens after he leaves

speaking of which he said he'd leave after the next new product..which I assume is the headset right? so he will probably leave soon
I wouldn't do the same, no. But I am a product, design, and customer experience person. Tim Apple is none of those things. I'm all for making a boat load of money, but not to the point where I would blatantly rip my customers off.

sadly BTO takes so long to ship...

I no longer buy Apple products, and I will continue this practice until someone more Jobs like is at the helm. If it never happens, so be it. I'm getting along fine without Apple, although I still love my 27" 5K iMac. I still love Apple as a company, I just haven't been happy with many of the decisions they've made over the past few years.

sorry I hadnt finished my sentence . I cannot loathe this crook , like you, but at the same time I wonder if most wouldn't adopt the same demeanor , you get me ? apple is gigantic, they're a government of itself now, richest company in the world, first to cross the TRILLION (now at 2.50T)

the pressure he gets must be insane, and he's indeed not a "good" person, but I suppose that's why they chose it (I dont understand why steve himself chose that blood sucker though? do you have any idea)

yes indeed, his field is prodcut management and supply chain issues, which he fixes by making people wait for products to reduce waste...since he knows apple buyers won't go anywhere else . He's not a man excited about anything tech related, it's all about money, making higher margins, and milking the cow really

I’m not a multi-billion dollar multi-national corporation, and I’m sure Apple’s accountants have the numbers, but I keep thinking that if Apple offered a 15 inch MBA with 16/512 that would be a really, really big seller and would make many customers happy. I think more people would be willing to buy it as a secondary device at that price to supplement a desktop or even as a second travel laptop. Not everyone needs/wants a MBP but might need more memory and storage.

Don't get me wrong, Tim Apple was probably the best Ops guy in the history of big business. I just don't agree with him being the CEO of Apple when he cares not about design, products, etc.

I'm sorry , this comment was meant to the dude who said 8gb is enough, obviously not you !

Orange Bat

i highly doubt we'll get someone passionate anymore, apple is just a big corporation that cares about money ,face it . I also partially left apple, and went back to android, but I do miss it tremendously, apps made for apple are just so much better, beautiful and powerful. not to talk about the walled garden and its integration between devices

android is fine, but I do have an ipad due to the lack of pro apps on android tablets. and windows is a mess, so im forced to use macOS

apple really are in such a power position, nothing can happen to them , they're just the best , because other systems are a mess. apple knew how to make use of that
