Nobody wants this. Many of us are already paying for more streaming services than we'd like to and this is just one too many. And Paramount, while it's a familiar name, does not have the same cachet as Disney, HBO or even Apple IMO. Most people can name at least 1 show or movie (probably more) made by the first two. Can you name anything that Paramount has done off the top of your head? I can't.

There are things to like about Paramount + (I'm a Trek fan so that's why I get it) but I really wish they had a better user interface. It really is bad. I can say the same thing about Peacock. Why do the main networks have crap user interfaces even though the programming isn't half bad?

Most every show that appears on CBS, MTV, Smithsonian, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, BET, a ton of movies, and live local news. Sorry, not going to list them all out.

But I also agree with the notion that we're paying more now for all the individual streaming services than we were with just paying for regular cable TV - particularly when you take the cost of your internet access to even get the streaming services (that cost is usually part of the cable bundle they force us to get).

I just wish they would bring it to Europe here so I wouldn’t have to view it through V..

T-Mobile is offering 1 year free of Paramount+. I really only watch all of new Star Trek series. Normally, I would only pay for the service while the Star Trek series is streaming new shows. After that, I cancel the service.

Currently that’s all the time. There’s been a new Star Trek episode every week for almost a year now (minus maybe 2-3 weeks)

Their “ad-free” tier of service is hardly that. Commercials for their own **** before every episode of something
How long are the ads? Can you skip the ads immediately? Amazon Prime does this, but there's a Skip button that's prominently displayed. And their 'ads' run for about 5 to 10 seconds. On 2 other related notes,
1) Apple TV+ also does this, so you should be wary of that. You watch a movie that's 2h, but the first 2 minutes of that movie will actually be an ad for another program on ATV+. There's also a skip button here, but you can always move the slider bar to where the content actually begins
2) The ad-free version of Hulu has in their fine print is that "ad-free" excludes a few shows which by contract, they can't offer ad-free. AFAIK, the only thing left here is Grey's Anatomy (but even then, people say the ads here aren't bad. Not as obnoxious as the standard fare). If you also do Hulu Live plan, the portions there are also excluded (although to be fair to consumers, it's not always easy to tell which is from Live, vs. their standard on-demand librarires).

Too lazy to check, but for ATV+ and AP, I'm guessing their fine print/disclaimers bring this up.

I already get a free year of PP Essentials Edition courtesy of T-Mobile. It is the version with ads :( It's not as bad as the ads on Hulu, but that was a low bar to clear. At least here, I can queue up 2 ads back-to-back by fast forwarding to the point just after the 2nd unwatched ad. Unlike Hulu, PP doesn't make me re-watch ads I've already seen (in the same session)! They're still awful overall that the time I've spent on PP has been very minimal. I've ended up watching some documentary about the US Navy SEALS (no ads here!), and filling in the missing episodes of Corporate, and Reno 911. I want to catch up on some of the stuff here, but it's gotta be ad-free. I won't renew when the sub is up. Instead, I'll come back and do ad-free at a later time next year.

I rotate SS (streaming services). For me, time is the bottleneck. Even bundling Disney+ and Hulu together to save $1 a month is wasteful when either of them have enough content to keep me occupied month in, month out.

As for your question, I have dabbled in Paramount Plus so became familiar with their catalog. Prior to that, I knew for sure that many of the CBS stuff was on there. So the various Star Treks, various CSIs, and their prime time line ups like NCIS, and Seal Team. I got word that Seal Team left CBS.com to become a PP exclusive (so people couldn't even watch it for free anymore, without a sub).

Personally, I was even more clueless about ATV+ prior to redeeming my free trial. I knew there was a "Tom Hanks movie" (basically, Greyhound), and another TV series b/c they were advertised elsewhere (YouTube, Amazon Prime, or probably some webpage side browser?). Starz... I couldn't name anything they had on their SS even if my life depended on it!

Not if you like Star Trek.
A year+ ago, it was nice when Amazon Prime had TOS, TNG, DS9, and VYG on there!

T-mobile included Paramount+ with my cell phone subscription for a year. Its a totally useless streaming service. Also, as a gay man, im annoyed by the relentless Ru Paul drag show promotions. Give it a rest already.

As a Paramount+ subscriber, the idea of paying for Star Trek Discovery or Picard is really offensive. Those shows are so dreadful, I'd recommend any real Star Trek fans to save yourself some real outrage and avoid them. Strange New Worlds is okay, and Lower Decks is really good.
As far as the service goes, I have had nothing but trouble from Paramount: double and triple billing, inability to sign in, Paramount claiming that Apple has double charged me, Apple claiming that Paramount has double charged me. The latest is that I can't sign in on another device (not an Apple TV), and Paramount support claims that "there is no account associated with that email address". Really?? 'cause I'm signed in to that account right now on my Apple TV!

Rotate the SS. Do you really need to have that many simultaneously? In my case, after I'm done with Amazon Prime, I'm going to be on one major SS (check out HBO Max or Netflix. Those are the only ones I haven't subbed to), plus Curiosity Stream. A major SS will set me back $5 to $15.50 per month. Curiosity Stream is $20 for the whole year, so round up to $2 a month. This is still far cheaper than cable TV. As a bonus, I get on-demand content that I can pause, rewind, ff, and not have to deal with ads. Just not having to set up a VCR to record stuff is nice on its own (I used to do this decades back). Internet isn't factored in, but it's something that I would've gotten anyways.

I know some families and groups (e.g. roommates living together) have 3 to 7 major ones going on at once. In their situation, it's too much to coordinate things like "jan. to Mar. will be Disney+, next 3 months we switch to Netflix, etc.". Those groups also save a ton of $$ by opting for ad-free plans (e.g. HBO Max and Paramount Plus is free courtesy of AT&T and T-Mo respectively, Hulu is only $1 a month due to their Thanksgiving promos. Another one free for 6 months from some promo code). Plus, it's more justifiable when all that has a cheaper "per person" cost.

Whatever you do, DO NOT SIGN UP FOR PARAMOUNT+ through Apple’s  TV app. Price is the same but my god the  TV app interface is an abomination. Really bad.

Sigh up using the Paramount+ app.
Does Apple still do the cheap Paramount+ and Showtime bundle? If so, it's a good deal and you still get access to the Paramount+ app and through the Apple TV app. (Though Showtime is only available through the Apple TV app.)

I'll tell you what you can't do, you can't get any of the paramount apps to work if you use Pi-Hole to filter your DNS. The apps are loaded with trackers that prevent the app from doing anything, even with a paid subscription (one can't really complain if the free version does this, I suppose). Oh, and you can't get them to stop charging you when you end the subscription because they're apps won't work with Pi-Hole knocking down all their trackers.

There is a always a catch with these ‘subscription service’ channels for a free month (Which in some respects, isn’t really free.) I’m not familiar with Paramount very well, but gathering from the comments in this thread, it’s a hard pass.
