Paramount group will probably make a deal with Comcast in the near future like what Warner Media made with Discovery.
Apple will never buy a 15B dollar company, these arguments are as realistic as the stories about Nintendo's impossible acquisition.

Apple does’t make big acquisition.

Big aquisitions mean the possibilty of big losses.

At some point, there's going to have to be some consolidation as consumers generally only budget and have time for a few streaming services. Disney+ is at the top with Netflix (though more and more people go without the latter) and Apple has the advantage of being included in Apple One with Apple Music and other services Apple users see value in. The same for Prime which people get for free with Amazon store privileges. The ones below that threshold are going to fight for the scraps and most won't survive. Consolidation will happen.

Paramount+ would be a great target for an Apple acquisition. Gaining Star Trek would fit Apple's culture perfectly. Technology, equality and optimism are maxims that fit both.
i wrote this to tim some months ago, but no reply yet.

i am not kidding.

You could put a gun to my head and I honestly couldn't tell you a single thing available on Paramount+. These streaming services have gone out of control.

Streaming service Paramount+ kicked off a new summer special in June, offering a free first month of the service for any new subscribers. Once your extended free trial ends, the service is available from $4.99/month for the ad-supported tier, but you can choose to cancel it before you're charged.

Note: MacRumors is an affiliate partner with Paramount+. When you click a link and make a purchase, we may receive a small payment, which helps us keep the site running.

Paramount+ typically has a week-long free trial, so this should give new subscribers a longer chance to catch up on the service's streaming content before they have to decide whether to keep paying for it or not. This offer will expire on Monday, June 20, and it can also be redeemed through the Paramount+ iOS app.

To get the offer, just click the "Try It Free" button on the Paramount+ website and select from the "Essential" (limited ads) or "Premium" (no ads except live TV and a few shows). Once you create your account and sign up, your offer of one month free will automatically be applied to your account.

Last year, Paramount+ offered a similar deal through Apple TV Channels, but readers should note that the 2022 offer is not through the Apple TV app's Channels feature and can only be found on the Paramount+ website or in its mobile app.

better than cable or even streaming TV subscriptions (Hulu, Youtube TV, etc.). Really just want to see direct content go to the source (NFL/MLB/PGA/etc.) and remove blackout rules. Let Paramount survive (or die) solely on their content. Not content they buy, lease, or otherwise promote.

That happened with me and Beachbody On Demand. LOL. I have had free BOD for 5+ years now. Don't you love it?!
I love it… I do think they need a better programming team I wonder how many other trial customers now have free on going access

No offer like this in the UK. £6.99 per month and week long trial. The question is why the cost it cost 68% more in the UK?

I would say that about all of them except HBO Max and Amazon. This is the downside of cutting the cable. The cost now of getting the same content that was available on a single service before is becoming staggering…
The main benefit of cable TV is sports (which I don't care about), but this may change one day. SS are still far too convenient for me to ignore when they're still very affordable.
Do we still need to pay for ads on this service? Paramount. As I’ve said in the past, I’ll only ever subscribe to a service if:

1. The service is free with ads.

2. The service is paid with no ads.

You can’t double dip and ask a paying customer to subscribe and also watch ads I’m not paying to watch ads. This is not 1992 anymore where you and other cable providers did that to customers.
... that was never any "hard rule". I can see these sorts of SS like Hulu and PP, but later on Disney+ and NF where they crunched the numbers and weigh how many subs they'll get, and the ad revenue from all of that, vs. the $$ from the sub itself, to stay at some healthy level of profits. For me, I don't mind adds, but they have to not be horrible. YouTube is the one where I can still tolerate being free to put up with the ads. I heard the ad-version of CBS All Access wasn't bad b/c the commercials were halved, if not more. So it's only 3 minutes of ads for a 44 to 60 minute programming. I wouldn't mind that. I hear HBO Max with-ads is similar to that. However, ad-supported Hulu and PP is just awful. Ironic b/c Hulu makes far more $$ with their ad-supported plan, but they pushed me away from that. (They also hocked their annual plan, which I would've considered. Ironically enough, that freed me up to try other SS!)

This reminds me of all the complaints how if an app costs money (even $1, lol), that there should be ZERO IAP. I'd want to take in the whole picture, not just go by some "formula".

On a related note, I'm always amused how people say Nintendo should just leave the hardware business and develop solely for mobile, or just iOS. Nah, they're doing fine with their own devices. They have full control over them, and won't be at the whim of Apple when they make new policies or push new versions of the OS on them.

It’s funny you should say that. I don’t have a single app that includes ads. And if I do download one I always opt to pay a fee to remove them if I can. The app experience is much better and at least I have the choice to do so. Otherwise it gets deleted for not giving me a choice. These streaming services aren’t giving us the choice to remove ads for the service charge or include ads if it completely free.

I don’t mind ads on TV or a streaming service to justify the service expenses if its a free service. But I’m not paying for the service plus watch ads too. It’s either or, no double dipping for me. But I also can’t stand ads on apps and websites even if the app is free. Some websites or ok I’m not bothers but many are vomited 🤮 with ads too. Totally different experience for me.

I'm the same way. Want to offer a cheaper plan that includes ads? Go for it! But I'll never select that because I can't stand ads.

I'm fine with Amazon Prime including "ads" since I can just skip over those. Whenever I get into PP ad-free, I'll have to see just how bad their default stuff is. I'm more pragmatic about this.

I don't want to bother with PP nor Hulu w-ads b/c I'm so called "double dipping". I can get why they do it, as there may not be a way to make it both free, with ads. I'm more against Hulu and PP ads b/c the ads are awful (as opposed for the sake of a scenario where it's "double dipping")

Waking up this thread because this question isn't worth a new one. Paramount+ supposedly has live events, like the Taylor Hawkins tribute concert and European soccer/football. I subscribed through the TV app on my Mac and don't see any live events or sports on the Mac or iPad.
Am I missing something? Or is it a lesser version when you subscribe through the TV app on the Mac?

I didn't find it either but you can just switch to the Paramount Plus app and stream it there instead. You just need to go to http://www.paramountplus.com/apple first.

Paramount Plus is having a promo that ends on Oct. 2nd (2022). They're bundling their own ss with Showtime. $8 a month for essentials edition (w-ads), or should be $80 to lock in a year. $13 a month for Premium (ad-free and other features) or $130 per year.

I think PP is now three tiers

1. Free with ads and some content not available
2. Paid with ads but more content available.
3. Paid w/o ads. I'm not sure if it's just the ads that are the difference, or if there is some content that you can only get with the top tier. (Researching is stating the only difference is not getting ads on the Premium Tier)

Yes, but when I cancelled #3 had unskippable 30 second "promos" for their other shows before you started watching an episode.
