At some point, there's going to have to be some consolidation as consumers generally only budget and have time for a few streaming services. Disney+ is at the top with Netflix (though more and more people go without the latter) and Apple has the advantage of being included in Apple One with Apple Music and other services Apple users see value in. The same for Prime which people get for free with Amazon store privileges. The ones below that threshold are going to fight for the scraps and most won't survive. Consolidation will happen.

Paramount+ would be a great target for an Apple acquisition. Gaining Star Trek would fit Apple's culture perfectly. Technology, equality and optimism are maxims that fit both.

Whatever you do, DO NOT SIGN UP FOR PARAMOUNT+ through Apple’s  TV app. Price is the same but my god the  TV app interface is an abomination. Really bad.

Sigh up using the Paramount+ app.
Don’t do either, since Apple takes a cut of the subscription for no reason. Just sign up using their website.

There is a always a catch with these ‘subscription service’ channels for a free month (Which in some respects, isn’t really free.) I’m not familiar with Paramount very well, but gathering from the comments in this thread, it’s a hard pass.
I never did a free trial. I was paying the higher price for the 'ad free' version.

Do we still need to pay for ads on this service? Paramount. As I’ve said in the past, I’ll only ever subscribe to a service if:

1. The service is free with ads.

2. The service is paid with no ads.

You can’t double dip and ask a paying customer to subscribe and also watch ads I’m not paying to watch ads. This is not 1992 anymore where you and other cable providers did that to customers.

Though I find myself frustrated with the writing at times, I think Discovery is pretty good and Strange New Worlds is showing a lot of promise seven episodes in--maybe the most I've enjoyed watching ST since Voyager went off the air. Like most Star Trek shows, it seems like they take a while to find their footing. I think people forget how bad TNG and DS9 were in their first seasons. I still can't get into Picard after a few attempts, though.

Weird. I signed up for a week trial around Halloween to watch the new Paranormal Activty, Clifford, and Sonic. Day before trial expires, I cancelled it in my Apple subscription….and well…I still have access, never been charged once, never redeemed my T-Mobile offer either (since my access still hasn’t been cut), and I’m still enjoying South Park, Drag Race, Sonic 2 8months later. Still haven’t paid a dime ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Here in 🇨🇦 the value proposition of Paramount+ is even weaker as Bell's Crave TV exclusively streams the contemporary Trek shows here. Now that service is actually pretty handy these days when you put it all together: Star Trek, HBO, Starz, Showtime...even misc. series like Doctor Who and a random assortment of half decent movies new and old. These days constant new Star Trek 100% keeps me there. Everything else is a bonus, but I watch a fair bit of the other content on it still too.

As a "ride or die" Star Trek fan who watches every episode the day they stream ... if Crave ever loses that Star Trek license and makes me get Paramount+ for Trek I'd feel ripped off by both services for sure. (Just peeked in Paramount+'s Canada library and nothing else was too compelling and Crave is getting pretty pricey.) As it is today, the mix Crave offers is just reasonable enough of a "cost per # of good shows watched" ratio for me to justify value wise.
Wow. I was just looking through your Crave TV packages and they definitely do make American-available channels and providers look pathetic. For about $20-25/mo you get a ton of great content. We don't have anything like that here, at least nowhere I've lived, which is east and west coast and in the middle.

The US is so far behind just about every other civilized country when it comes to just about anything these days. Our Internet providers are at the top of that list as our offerings and prices here compared to most of the world is insane.

Netflix has crept up to the same price of Crave but Crave has HBO content and films just out of theatrical release. Watched The Batman on Crave 2 weeks after I watched it in theatre. Matrix Resurrections also appeared soon after cinematic release. Keep in mind those are $20 Canadian dollars so it's very well priced, considering before cutting the cord, I used to pay over $100 for cable every month.

I haven't touched Netflix in a long time. Just recently subscribed for the first time in years to catch up on Stranger Things but $20/month offers nowhere near the value of Crave. Netflix is in trouble in Canada if they don't lower their prices to where it becomes a bill you kind of ignore because it's not much. At that price, people are considering whether they need it.

I’ve been enjoying paramount+ a lot. Price is decent and they have a ton of my fave Nickelodeon cartoons and shows from when I was a kid. Pretty decent so far. So much negativity in here.

If you don’t like it, don’t sign up?

I signed up for a free trial about 6 months ago and I still have free access. The subscription shows canceled in my Apple subscription section but my account remains active. It’s been over six months now.
That happened with me and Beachbody On Demand. LOL. I have had free BOD for 5+ years now. Don't you love it?!

Not if you like Star Trek.

And Beavis and Butt-Head. The movie later this month, and a new series. And they are remastering the old series, with all the original videos (that in the past, got cut due to licensing) restored.

Paramount group will probably make a deal with Comcast in the near future like what Warner Media made with Discovery.
Apple will never buy a 15B dollar company, these arguments are as realistic as the stories about Nintendo's impossible acquisition.

Apple does’t make big acquisition.
