Mine is canceled as well with this reason

Reason: This item flew off our shelves and isn't available anymore.

What a joke! Thats why I don't have AT&T of anything they are so unreliable.
Got a second email with that reason (versus a blank reason the first time). Order status page still shows "In Progress"

Yeah, got cancellation, no message then another that said "FLEW off the shelves, sorry"

got the "flew off the shelves" email 2 hours ago but the website still shows "in progress"...

Same result here. AT&T bounces you around, and says you can only get information from Chat Room, and if they say they are out of stock, then "you're out of luck". Ridiculous that they would assign an order#, only to come back and cancel due to lack of inventory.

NINE hours passed since the "flew the shelf" email, still "in progress" on the order status page. Is this hopeless at this point?

Yeah, yours will probably go to canceled shortly. Mine lagged the email by 4-5 hours.

I have spent 2 hours on the phone with AT&T talking to 4 different people and have gotten nowhere. I am pretty pissed at point. What's the point of taking orders when you don't have the inventory to fulfill them? Why not just not take the order in the first place? Beyond ridiculous.

Got my “order canceled” email... got in a “Att Chat” with Zeus... 25 minutes later, they’d set aside one at my local store (Grand Rapids, MN). Picked it up at 3:45 today $90+ to... I’d also tweeted out abt it... ATT responded abt 4:30, asking me to DM them... in

Update 2: I have thoroughly exhausted all avenues for this promotion to no avail.

The only bright side is that after spending way too long dealing with this, my AT&T account is noted that should Apple TV become available at a physical AT&T store, I must be giving the sale price.

But as the device is no longer available through any of their channels, and doesn't seem likely to reutrn, it's a relatively meaningless gesture now.

It looks like this may have indeed been some type of clearance likely related to the failing DirecTV NOW (now AT&T TV NOW) service .. something many of us have been thinking.

As is customary with the excellent service from AT&T /s, this was not communicated properly throughout the sales channels, largely because AT&T doesn't really care.

That is to say that AT&T is in the early stages of a streaming war and have many fires to put out.

This could have been them literally 'dumping excess weight off the ship' and whoever was able to catch it...great.

If not, well too bad, the 'ship' has already moved on and there is no more gold to dump :-/

And make no mistake .. whatever your qualms, Apple TV or any Apple product at 50% off is like gold. A deal like this will cause pandemonium .. the only way to ignore that fact is to not care and AT&T, Does Not Care.

TLDR: It was a flash sale on very limited stock for those lucky enough to actually stand up and catch.

Update: Canceled ... I feel like I should be more upset, but this is AT&T 🤬

None of this is an excuse for accepting orders and then not honoring them. A proper online retailer would either have limited the orders to the number of units they had on hand , or ordered new units to fulfill the remaining orders.

I certainly agree, but AT&T isn't a proper anything, never mind online retailer. Plus, they may not even have the ability to do that very basic thing.

I was informed more than once by some very nice reps (who do a credit to their employer) that AT&T 800 Customer Service doesn't even have the ability to check the stock of their own corporate stores as the stores use a different inventory system.

Bwahaha .. all I can do is laugh. If true, it's so damn silly. Talk about disconnected.

So I did my own manual stock check and called fifteen (15) stores to no avail :-/

It seems clear, at least in the case of this situation .. AT&T, Does Not Care.

Even if they wanted to, by their own internal design, AT&T has made it very difficult for them to care.

Just try reaching a conscious human at one of their stores.. you'll feel real cared for after that! /s

Mine was canceled as well.

Took me a good 90 minutes making phone calls through different AT&T reps to find a reason why.

There is a local store here saying they may get stock in tomorrow. Not sure if the promotion is still going on that it will be honored or not.

Update 3: After fifty-four (54) phone calls to various stores in my metro area and a relentless persistence, I was able to locate and buy an Apple TV 4K!! 😎

It rang up for $89.50 without any input from the associate.
I then went to two different Best Buys who tried but simply could not price match this.

The reduction in price is so extraordinary that getting a price match would more so come in the form of dumb luck or a rare blessing at this point.

Scour your local AT&T stores people .. it's the only way. Had we all known to do this 48+ hours earlier, more of us would have found success.

And while the pursuit was definitely worth it, this adventure has actually left me worn out and quite exhausted.

Not that this is going to make a difference, though secretly I am hoping they offer me a deal...

Just wrote the CEO and several executives at AT&T a polite but very pointed email about what they did.

Those bastards waited a week to cancel those orders they could not fulfill.

In that time we could have gone to a nearby store and purchased.

I have been calling around at stores who were expecting inventory this week. Now they have the inventory and are saying the promotion is over.

You know, this wasn't a product I needed. I have enough 4k ATVs already.

However, it was an impulse grab at a great price. I am just really miffed that AT&T handled this sale so poorly.

They did the same exact thing with Silicone cases a few months back. But then it was even worse. They delayed everyone's order by 2-3 weeks BEFORE cancelling them. This is all an intentional stunt. After that, I reached out until I got all the way up to the CEO's Office. They wouldn't do anything to help. They pretty much said too bad.

Exactly! And Amazon has done this many times in the past.

I was sent a template apology from AT&T executives.

I sent them one last reply and said that if they really cared, they would issue rain checks to each and every order they had to cancel.

That would be the right thing to do.

However, seeing AT&T is tacking on an additional $10 fee to current customers and playing around with data these days, I am so glad I switched to Verizon months ago. I hated AT&T.

I also had my order cancelled. Just curious: did anyone who received their order not have an AT&T account? Or did anyone who had their order cancelled have a current AT&T account?

I was not an AT&T customer and I wonder if that had anything to do with anything.
