I would not call a machine like that portable.
You say its a desktop but you also said its being moved run. If you want a 7kg gaming laptop. Go and buy a alienware.
Got to be joke of the year to buy a mbp which is hells expensive just to play steam games. If you are going to game you need windows so why dont you just buy a winsows machine to begin with.
I just dont get people. You say you dont care about battery. You say its a desktop. Why would someone prefer a 15" over a 27" ips which is cheaper. Some people baffle me with their stupidity. Kinda scary.

Also pc games are just console ports with updated textures. And gaming on a 15" compared to a b&w setup with 5,1 and 100" is kinda crappy. Oh well.
Well, imagine it this way. Gaming laptop = powerful hardware, everything including blowing on it to cool it down, plus games. Most of that you won't find from Apple. Steve Jobs isn't very interested in gaming, I wouldn't imagine. The only thing for you to do is to remember the fact that right now, the AMD 6750m in the high end MBP 15" is a relatively powerful mobile GPU, and the 2.3 i7 is currently the highest quality non-extreme mobile intel processor on the market, and it's over clock is comparable to a strong Desktop processor. Gaming requires a strong graphics CPU. Apple driver upgrades are needed, and maybe more Open GL support. But the biggest fix for your problem would be: Wait for the next Macbook Pro, or other computer, because of course THEY will have a generation higher in Graphics, probably meaning they'll run games better. the AMD 6750m can max out a lot of games in the market (SC2, HL2, all the CoD games, BLUR, Dawn of War 2, almost can max out BFBC2, Crysis is playable on HIGH), and so next generation, if say they put in an AMD 6970m, like in the Imacs, imagine what you'll get!

Not sure about you guys but I game just fine on my MBP.
While it's not able to max out Crysis 2 I can still play some kickass racing games while I'm sitting in the airport.

Some people who travel or are away from home for extended periods (people on tours with musical groups, in the military overseas, etc.) Would like to be able to game but due to restrictions on weight in airlines or other travel restrictions, can't bring a gaming console/full size gaming machine with them.
I belong to one of those groups. I need a machine that is light-weight for portability, able to last long periods of time on battery power, and can game well in my downtime when I'm near a plug. I wouldn't really want anything bulkier than this, and I know once I get home, I can actually build a dedicated gaming rig.

they already have devices for this called gaming consoles and windows based gaming laptops.
why would apple even attempt this without support for titles anyway? it's not like they're struggling either and need some sort of gaming laptop introduction to boost revenue.
