Is it only oriented to US Market??

No Europe??

I've tried scanning some Blu-rays and PS3 Games, and no one was recognized

thank you

What? That's weird, I scanned German Manga without a problem.

I'd like to know the answer to this as well, or experiences from other Europeans.
Without a trial available, I don't wanna pony up the cash for an app that won't play nicely with my titles... :(

Look at their website, there is a trial version to download.

Wait. What?
So for those of us still on 10.7 who *DON'T* want our books to follow our cursor can't use this app?
#sigh# :(

What? Books follow cursors?

Wil is known for releasing for the current technology. His attitude, based on years in the software business, is that most people who don't update their OS also don't update their apps, so writing an app for previous OS versions isn't worth his investment.

Supporting older OS versions can hold a developer back from offering cool new features, like the improved scanning capability, for instance.

I haven't read the DM forums.

How many sources would it take to replace features tied to Amazon? That current pricing value comes direct from them for instance.

Maybe I am alone in this but I don't care if the iOS app can't import by itself. I am more interested in the iOS app as a reference of what I have and don't have.

Tried it, switched to DVDpedia. DL's GUI requires an awful lot of mousing around for common tasks. I notice for the latest version they updated the eye candy but the controls haven't been refined at all.

As for the simulated wood grain, it reminds me of one of those butt-ugly station wagons with the plastic wood siding. Same goes for Apple's latest efforts on the skeuomorphic fad. Jesus, if these people are serious about wood grain styling, then put real wood trim on the next iMac. Otherwise stop putting that dog vomit on my screen.

Cool, thanks. You like what works for you. thanks great. It is worth nothing it would cost $125 to get the equivalent collectionz software for what Delicious Library offers for $25...and Delicious is one app, not a separate apps for each item type. Collectorz is kinda of a money grab, they are telling us that they can't store music titles in a DVD title storing program, ridiculous. That seems like they are being rude, to me, taking advantage of ignorance of people who don't know that they are selling the same basic software and calling each program DVD collection, music Collection, Game collection, etc.

I agree on the money grab.

Does anyone know if V3 supports the old iOS app? I use it on a regular basis (the created web page doesn't have the functionality)

No, and this is a deal-breaker.

I sync my library to DL iOS app on my phone so when I am out I can reference it to make sure I am not purchasing duplicate media.

This app is cute. Useless. I tried and tried to use it and make it part of my organized live but I always ended up using other options.

What are the better options, before I drop $25 on this one :)

I have the Pedias and PocketPedia. It was good, but it has no (iCloud) backup. I once clean installed my OS and lost days of work cataloguing all my books, so I've never bothered again. I did buy Home Inventory on sale a few months ago, but haven't tried it yet

I have Delicious Library 2--actually got it for free since version one had problems with Snow Leopard, so they sent me a free upgrade code.

But I rarely use it. the biggest problem is that it's only good for new books. I have thousands of used books that are 20-50 years old. Many don't have barcodes, and if they do it usually leads to a used book with no scan of the cover.

Not having an portable iOS-based scanner was a huge issue, too, so maybe that's better there, but I guess my biggest problem is that it's been FIVE years since the last release. There have been updates, but that's only to make sure the program keeps working. I feel like I can't trust the developers for support and new features, so why should I upgrade?

What I really want is a real library cataloging app for Mac with MARC-reading ability and the ability to download records from OCLC. Is there such a thing?

I never understood why Delicious Library always grabs the publicity--it's the eye-candy, I guess--when the "pedia" software is 100 X more useful. (Bookpedia, DVDpedia, etc). I've been using DVDpedia for years and love it. It has always allowed webcam scanning of UPC codes, just like DL. It has an easy-to-sync iOS app too but best of all it is woodgrain-free!

I'm not sure if it's the same, but I use "Home Inventory". I use it to store info on everything from electronics, home items and media. It also has an iOS app that allows scanning barcodes or adding information and photographs from your iDevice which stores it automatically on your Mac. Allows for warranty information and keeps track of policies, as well as updating current value on your items should you lose them.

Store all the information about your possessions, including photos, receipts, warranty information, and product manuals electronically all in one place. Use the dated notes feature to keep track of repair information, provenance, and modifications, among other things.

Highly recommend it. Seems a more robust app than Delicious Library and is less expensive. :)

As do I. I don't know why they don't have that.

I'll have to download the trial and give this a try. If I can copy a simple HTML file to my Box account I could bring that into my iPhone and perhaps open it in Sarfari. That would avoid an always in Internet connection.
How about a Publish to Evernote option?

Upgrade pricing... That's the one thing that Apple's online stores don't support. By the way, Wil Shipley has written quite a long blog entry about that problem:

http://blog.wilshipley.com/2012/03/mac-app-store-needs-paid-upgrades.html

Thanks, after reading this I can sympathize a little more about their issue.

But I don't totally agree with the assessment that all the people who bought on the App store would be up in arms and storming the gates.

It should be treated as 2 different groups.

If you are the type of user that buys from the App store instead of the main website, then you abide by those rules.

If you want upgrade pricing, then buy from the developer's website.
If you feel like having Apple hold your hand and they get 1/3 cut, then that is the price you pay.

Or if you make the kind of utilities that upgrades are plentiful, then don't use the app store.

Does Parallels and VM Fusion use the AppStore?

As he said in the blog, they get lots of extra money from the AppStore, sounds like a problem they don't mind too much.

Crown molding chrome on an app??? Are you FREAKING kidding me??? This is the most disgusting design I possibly have ever seen! This is like the poster child of what NOT to do with skeuomorphism!!!!!!:eek::confused::(

According to their website, since the Mac App Store doesn't allow upgrade pricing, they decided to cut the price from $35 to $25 for everyone.

Yeah, but lots of developers are using that excuse. I agree it is a short coming of the apple store, but (there is always a but) ... whats to stop them from having a downloadable one from the web site. I bought, version 1 and then I bought version 2. Now I have to buy version 3 ? It ain't gonna happen especially since version 2 works on 10.8. Ill keep using it.

Not trying to complain toooo much, BUT.. (see) those of us who bought the earlier versions are the reason they got to make a version 3. I always thought that customer loyalty was supposed to be a good thing?

Make the upgrade $15 for owners of V2 and $10 for owners of V1 & V2, and $24 for everyone else. They lowered the price of D2 with this release, why not carry that a little farther to previous customers?

I am moving in a month and I was actually thinking that this would be a great chance for me to scan all of my crap into DL as I put them away. I will, but I will do it in DL2 and keep my $24.

I just read it too, but I disagree with...

"Some might say, “The App Store’s current model of free upgrades forever is great! You should just adopt it.”

I have a bunch of apps where the developer just stopped upgrading and released a new version. They have released 3.0 and my 2.0 will never get upgraded again.

I think they get around the "no iPhone app" by making a website version of your library. Not the same as an app, but hey, it's something.

That UI, good lord.

I'll definitely stick with DL2 and look at the alternatives to DL3 if I need more features.

I wanted to like this. Really, I did. I've been looking for some sort of cataloging program for a while and decided to wait for version 3 before I dropped any money on it. Installed the trial and decided 'no way' after fifteen minutes.

For one thing, it didn't even open when I selected the initial option to scan items in. I had to pick 'start with a small library' and then select the menu to add things. After several force quits, when I did get it running, it was incredibly slow and laggy. We're talking jerky graphics, delayed clicks, beach balls all over the place. This is on a recently ML imaged (and rebooted) 2011 MBP with 8gb of memory and nothing else open but Safari and Mail.

Synching it to my iPhone to scan things was a snap (good job on that feature!), so I wandered over to my media shelves to start scanning things. It did decently on my American media, found about half my Japanese DVDs and CDs (and several of those were wrong), a quarter of the Korean ones (several wrong there as well; SJM is not FTI, thanks), and none of the Chinese ones. The last two I pretty much expected, but since I have quite a large collection of Japanese CDs, this makes it less than useful.

It might be worth revisiting later after the dev(s) have time to update, but it's not ready for primetime. Not by a longshot.

Ever heard of the internet? It allows you to bring up files when you are mobile, or away from your computer. It is totally amazing.
Delicious Library 3 allows you to "publish your library to the 'Web'".

Then you can use a 'bookmark' to view your collection anywhere.

The internet, you should use it.

Yeah, but the whole point of having Apps on my phone is so I don't have to use the stupid browser. Don't you remember the "weblets" Steve introduced in 2007? They didn't last long. But good to know you want to go back to 2007. How dare I ask for an App!

Delicious had an App before. That's the problem. The App was great and the only reason why I bought the damn program.

After playing around with 3, I'm really not liking some things. The big one is not having the sidebar with book info like 2. Looks like the sidebar just has recommendations and the dates you added items. I don't like the double click to bring up the info pane.

I think it's purpose is to help us realize that we have SO much junk that we need an app just to remember it all. It's pretty sad knowing that there's a whole market dedicated to apps that just tell you what stuff you have and suggest what you need more of.
I've whittled down my CD library to about 200 (for sentimental purposes, and something to look at on the shelves). The rest went here:
