Delivery date just changed from 9/19 in the last hour

This is what happened to me. I am trying to decide if I want to wait in line or try to hunt one down somewhere else and try to cancel this order. The woman I spoke too at apple sounded so sure it would not be delayed again but after reading this I'm not feeling good about it.
 
Same message received here at 7pm EST on 9/18. Up until then all was set for a delivery of 9/19. I spoke with an CS rep this morning who stated that the authorization had been already cleared up and that I would see the phone next week - very disappointing.

Seeing the number of people here affected I'm concerned about the dates that I have been given.

Has anyone canceled their order and taken their chances with a local Apple Store?

Hopefully they have cleared up this issue. I still have not seen any update for my delayed 6+. But my wife and son's will be here today. At least I will get a chance to "touch one".

One other thing, for folks in this situation.. the manager I spoke with at Apple last night said my phone was still being physically reserved. She said is most probably boxed and ready to scan to go out to UPS. So as long as they get the problem cleared up, I will get the phone I ordered.

Had us a little worried at first. ...We had one showing "arrival" at a hub that's four hours away, and no update for its departure. The next time we looked on UPS there it twas at our local hub on truck for delivery 🙂

Just to update, my order is still boned, not coming til next week.

So here I am about #50 in line at an Apple Store an hour before it opens. Hoping to get what I ordered and then just cancel it. Wish me luck!
 
Ok. I just got off the phone with yet ANOTHER apple rep, and honestly, they have no EFFING idea what is going on. Att says everything is fine on their end, apple says everything is fine on their end, but they don't seem to be talking to each other. My fear is the new delivery date will be pushed back. At this point I would rather they cancel the order and reinstate my upgrade eligibility and I can take my chances with the stores. But Apple says they can't cancel the order now that it's preparing for shipment. ATT can't reinstate eligibility until Apple releases the order. It's a cluster ********! So, I guess all I can do is wait to see what happens. I'm not very good at that. I want answers...
 
One thing I thought I'll mention is I've noticed the order status of my phone switched back and forth between 'Processing Items' and 'Preparing for Shipment' several times since I've placed the pre-order. I'm now wondering if that's when Apple tried to verify eligibility and failed, and ultimately failed again yesterday, which ended up in this delayed situation. If that's true, whatever that's causing the problem, I don't envision it will get resolved in the next few days. 🙁
 
I agree that I don't think the issue will get resolved quickly. And after it draws out a few more days, don't be surprised if apple automatically cancels your order. (they did that to me once before, similar situation).

I had both ATT and Apple on the phone with me at the same time last night. No luck.

For those of you trying to go ahead and get one at a store, let us know how that goes. You would think if the issue was between Apple and ATT, you couldn't get one at the store either. I believe at the store, Apple still has to verify eligibility with ATT.

Same here. Still no change in my order status. Still preparing for shipment 1-3 days, delivers 9/22-9/24. I'm getting more and more doubtful I will get it early next week. Also, given the relatively few people experiencing this issue, it appears to be a very limited problem w/ AT&T and Verizon orders only.

Most annoying thing is getting multiple spam email from Apple saying "iphone 6 here now"... Well then, hurry up and send the mofo!
 
Went to ATT this morning to get one but they said my new line is already approve by apple on the 12th and I would have to cancel with apple before I could get new one. Apple is really screwing up this launch from the screwed up keynote to today. Steve is rolling over in his grave.

Nope,
Called apple says I could cancel but then I would have to wait for att to get more stock. Because when I left they were already running out. Just going to wait. At least the apple rep offered me the free leather case.
 
I talked to Apple two times last night and once this morning. Each conversation went different. I call Verizon to complain about their backend work and they said that they would make a note on my account the next time Apple tries to confirm eligibility. Honestly this is BS, I paid full price.
 
Another probably useless update. Called Apple again this morning and was given more conflicting information. The rep I talked to sounded pretty clueless, and she didn't tell me anything about Apple was unable to verify my eligibility with Verizon until I specifically asked if that has been cleared. The rep informed me that they are still waiting for verification. I asked to speak to a manager. He told me my order did have verification issue, but the problem is now cleared, and the phone is ready to be shipped. He had me on hold to have his peer double check and verify that all is good on the order, and it was.

Here's the run down of conflicting info I've gotten so far:
Rep 1: "Order was delayed due to so many orders."
Rep 2: "Waiting for eligibility verification from Verizon. Here's 2 leather cases for free for the trouble."
Manager 1: "Waiting for eligibility verification from Verizon."
Rep 3: "Order will ship in 1-3 days (basically reading off what I can already see online)." Didn't mention anything about verification issue until I asked about it.
Manager 2: "Everything clear and good to go."

Status hasn't change since the delay. Shipping in 1-3 days. Expected delivery 9/22 to 9/24. Who do I believe?
 
4:30pm EDT, mine still shows preparing for shipment. Delivers 9/23-9/25. No change since last night. Evidently, not getting fixed soon.

On the good side, my wife and son got theirs today. Even though mine was ordered first. Nice looking iPhones.

All - there is hope - I just received a notification from Apple stating that the phone was now released and has shipped. I have a delivery date (with a tracking number now) of 9/22

Thanks for the update. That's good news! Does the tracking number show where is the phone coming from?
 
Not yet - It isn't registering in the UPS system yet, but it was the first one that Apple has delivered for this order. I'll report back if I see a change
 
Carrier orders are always precarious at best. You DONT need to place the order via the carrier!

Next time order from Apple.com and use the back button and refresh until your order goes through.

My order was complete: 310AM ET Apple.com
 
I did order through Apple.Com... never had an issue with them the last 5-6 years. For some reason, this one particular phone (mine) is still on hold. ATT is my carrier.
 
UPDATE: I got my phone from waiting in line! And better yet, what I REALLY wanted which was the GOLD not SILVER.

So worth the wait man, this thing is beautiful.

Now I have to return the other though as it shipped today. 😱
 
Congrats. Glad it worked out. Yes, it is a wonderful looking phone. The 6+ is big though. Barely fits in a mans pocket.
 
Looks like some progress. Got an email from Apple about 40 minutes ago that one of the two 128 GB 6 pluses I ordered shipped today with UPS tracking number, but no delivery date noted. Hopefully it arrives on Monday.

The other order, which was placed at virtually the same time through the Apple store app on my other iPhone, is still showing "Preparing for shipment..."

Glad to hear others' phones are getting shipped as well. Keep us all posted on progress. Seems like we really are the unlucky few.

Congrats man! Glad you got exactly what you wanted and Verizon didn't hose you on eligibility since your other phone shipped.
