Apple has strict contracts that even if distribution centers recieve products day(s) before they are not allowed to ship until the date that Apple states they could be shipped. Sorry but you need to wait till the 24th

There was one iPhone product launch (I believe it was iPhone 5 or 5S) where a pretty large number of people had their iPhones delivered Thursday rather than launch day Friday.

While receiving the  Watch is very unlikely, it's surely possible.

Yes

All the updates today were 3-5 pm est. Does that line up with a bunch of flights coming in? I think most are already here, but who knows.

Yes, if you go back in the UPS history it makes sense.. Some of these flights only happen every 3 days.. but today there were more than one, and they were spaced out over a few hours. Some haven't landed yet. If we get a rash of charged cards in the US between 3 and 4 AM then I believe I may be on to something. Attached are all the "UPS" flights coming home to Louisville, where "UPS Worldport" is located.. it's their main distribution hub. Many cool YouTubes on how that works.

Pictures of you with your buddies each in their respective blue or brown gear while drinking a cherry slurpee or we don't believe you!

:)

I tend to agree we may not see tracking number for a few days.

Id love to send you pictures with a cherry slurpee, but the 7-11 ran out of cherry and they only had grape! Most likely we will see tracking numbers become available Wednesday through sources like UPS My choice, or the Fed Ex Equivalent. Thursday or Friday for Apple to display the tracking number.

Why would anyone think they are at any UPS or Fedex hubs in the U.S.? The only case that would be true is that they got here in bulk but no one item has been assigned to anyone. If they were assigned then it would have a shipping label on it and a scan in the system so that it would be trackable. Also if they were here in the U.S. at the hubs, do you think UPS or FedEx employees would be creating shipping labels and affixing them to your watch package? That would be the job of Apple employees or employees at their plant in China. Before we speculate if there coming from China or here in the U.S., lets wait until we get our tracking numbers to follow its progress through the carriers systems.

Correct!!! But they are shipped on Pallets.. They probably don't hit Apples inventory systems until they are in Apple's warehouses.. They have to get there first dude. You only get a tracking number if Apple pays for UPS/FedEX to do that from China.. Apple employees can still attach shipping labels this week for them to ship on time.. Such a skeptic..

Interesting idea to look at freight shipments... unfortunately it doesn't seem to do much good for Australia as there are no FedEx planes headed to Sydney that I can see, and only one UPS coming from Honolulu.

How obsessed are we

I'm assuming tomorrow (For Americans & Canadians) will be the day that labels are created and we'll be able to track by reference for those of us that were in the wave of getting charged and our orders went to Preparing For Shipment.

This is probably why. And a ton of iPhone 6's came from distribution points in the US before launch, but some came from China also.

"Apple Watch pre-orders are being sent to centralized distribution points across the United States as couriers prepare the shipments to be delivered ahead of the wrist-worn device's launch on April 24, according to a source for MacRumors that has provided accurate information in the past."

Agreed.

Did anyone that ordered a SG Sport watch that is now preparing for shipping also order another watch of some type that is also preparing for shipping? Thanks!

Please post about what happens, my billing info was wrong in the begging so it would be really nice to know what to do when it declines.

Just call Apple, and ask the representative if they can run a manual authorization. That's what I did. Went through, and an hour later my card was charged and I got a "Preparing for Shipment"

Honestly if I remember correctly for when I received my iPhone 6 it came from Shenzhen to PANC (Anchorage) to Louisville UPS hub. I watched it each step of the journey and all of the timing of the scans matched up. I thought it was pretty cool. I know I am geeky.

How early the stock arrives in each country depends on the number of pre-orders and the logistics capabilities/restraints of that country. Australia might not get "updates" from Apple until Wed/Thurs if their shipping infrastructure is efficient.. You could apply that same logic to other countries. The US is large geographically. I think there are multiple shipments arriving in the US today and tomorrow. As Apple controls their complete supply chain, they know what is where. Once bulk shipments (of anything not just watches) arrive in the US, they are lined up with "processing" orders. Since most anything is manufactured in batches some things might not "snap into place" for the customer until the last second. Customers are probably charged for their orders once the stock is positioned for final shipping, or, if not positioned, able to be promised. At that time, it is taken out of inventory, and the process continues until the supply chain catches up. It's completely logical, and explains why shipping notifications appear random, and charges don't make sense based on "when you ordered it." There is probably an entire plane carrying nothing other than space grey watches, once it his the US, the stock on that plane will fill orders in the order they are received.. it's really not that complicated..

Well maybe tomorrow for me.
Ordered 12:01pst email confirmation 12:02pst
Charged for apple care then charge fell off after a few days.
Now I just sit and wait.
