Seems like the 42mm SS with white sport band was the one to get. I see a lot of people report preparing for shipment on those.

No love for 42mm SS with black sport band though. Still processing. Dang it I'm getting irritated.

Unless the SG/SS black supply was completely depleted in 0-10 minutes, I almost guarantee we will see Wednesday charges and shipments. I have ever bit of faith that the watches are already at the distribution centers. Just makes perfect business sense. They've been making these watches for almost 7 months now. They've had plenty of time to prepare and expected this type of build up and excitement. Its been a heck of ride in this thread!

I don't think production on the watches started ramping up until after that last spring forward presentation held in March. Also, there are 38 variations of the watch. Apple is probably not making so many millions of each watch and storing them in inventory. Warehousing cuts into Apple's fat profit margins. And Apple had no prior history to determine how many of each watch to make. They probably did some market research of expected customer demand which they used as a guide in determining how much of each watch to make for the initial batch of orders. However, it is only with the actual pre-orders that Apple is realizing which watch models that they need to ramp up production for. This is probably why the watch has a 2 week delivery window of 4/24 - 5/8 unlike any Apple initial product launch I know of in last several years. This is why they wont have stock available to purchase in their retail stores on 4/24. Since Apple has never sold such a product with so many versions before, they probably would not have produced enough of the models that are in demand based on actual orders. So if you didn't get your pre-order in early enough or you just happen to order a model that Apple did not produce enough initial stock for, you may not get your watch on 4/24 but sometime between 4/24 and 5/8. That window is allowing Apple the needed time to ramp up production and delivery of the watches based on the watches that are actually ordered.

Fun fact. Apple turns over it's entire supply chain every 5 days. They can ramp to production even faster than months.. They can probably put a boot up some little Asians behind and get MangPang and Gang to start churning out watches faster than you can say ":mad:But I ordered mine at 3:04."

My 42mm SS with white sport band went from processing to preparing for shipment back to processing but my CC is still charged

How early the stock arrives in each country depends on the number of pre-orders and the logistics capabilities/restraints of that country. Australia might not get "updates" from Apple until Wed/Thurs if their shipping infrastructure is efficient.. You could apply that same logic to other countries. The US is large geographically. I think there are multiple shipments arriving in the US today and tomorrow. As Apple controls their complete supply chain, they know what is where. Once bulk shipments (of anything not just watches) arrive in the US, they are lined up with "processing" orders. Since most anything is manufactured in batches some things might not "snap into place" for the customer until the last second. Customers are probably charged for their orders once the stock is positioned for final shipping, or, if not positioned, able to be promised. At that time, it is taken out of inventory, and the process continues until the supply chain catches up. It's completely logical, and explains why shipping notifications appear random, and charges don't make sense based on "when you ordered it." There is probably an entire plane carrying nothing other than space grey watches, once it his the US, the stock on that plane will fill orders in the order they are received.. it's really not that complicated..

Well said ##

Why would anyone think they are at any UPS or Fedex hubs in the U.S.? The only case that would be true is that they got here in bulk but no one item has been assigned to anyone. If they were assigned then it would have a shipping label on it and a scan in the system so that it would be trackable. Also if they were here in the U.S. at the hubs, do you think UPS or FedEx employees would be creating shipping labels and affixing them to your watch package? That would be the job of Apple employees or employees at their plant in China. Before we speculate if there coming from China or here in the U.S., lets wait until we get our tracking numbers to follow its progress through the carriers systems.

I think it's possible (and even likely) that Apple has contracted with the carrier to perform this service, in an effort to save time going back and forth from China through fedex to apple and then back to fedex.

Yep, I remember my iPhone 6+ going from China, to Alaska, and then the U.S.

It is all part of the fun.

Well, unless it is late. But, that's actually never happened to me.

I'm going to say it goes by the stock Apple receives by plane, then by order time. I have an excellent feeling there will be a bunch more watches traveling in from China (here's looking at you SS BSB). They'll fill the orders once the stock arrives by order time.

Then again, since this is a new product it is entirely possible they have themselves two week windows to try and meet demand that outstripped supply during the preorders. I have rarely seen such long shipping windows from Apple.

Now, change my damn order status for my 42mm SS Classic Buckle!

Hey folks. I just thought I'd share the phone call I just had with Apple online store with you....

I called to add Apple care to my order (42mm white sport) and It turns out I can't until they actually ship my watch as that's when the serial number becomes active.

I asked if he knew when we might see shipping status change. He said expect to see change around Wednesday. He confirmed that my watch will be in China and coming straight to me from the airport. Not via any hub! I'm in the UK.
Seems like they are running a pretty tight ship. He said it takes 48h from China to me. And he seemed confident that I would get mine on Friday. I ordered at 8:02 last Friday.

So ruddy excited.

Looks like the Irish guy at the online store might of been right.... Hopefully!!!!

Ever wonder if Tim Cook and his cronies and sitting in a board room looking at these forums thinking... OMG we have them so whipped! Hehe

No I more imagine them like parents on Christmas Eve. Just as excited for us to get our big present as we are excited to get it.

Also UPS81 and UPS99 were flight numbers that had Apple products when I was tracking during the last iPhone launch. Hopefully they are carrying Apple products again.:D

alright, so I just got off the phone with Apple.

He couldn't tell me when I'd be charged, but that they'd email me a confirmation when the shipping was going to occur and they'd charge my cc then.

He couldn't give any real info on times, he seemed to think I was a fair chance given I'd ordered in the first 5 minutes but certainly nothing concrete

I'm in Melbourne, Australia
