My card was charged Monday and status updated Monday night but nothing on UPS yet and my AMEX still shows the new charge as pending, was so excited Monday thinking I'd get a 24th delivery but now worried

For someone to get an order in at 3:01 and not get the model on launch day, but someone else to place an order for the same model hours later and receive theirs on launch day just seems a bit 'off.' I won't go as far as to say its a slap in the face to apple diehards or anything like that - it's just unfortunate.

To me it would be the equivalent of camping out to insure you get what you want only to have an Apple employee go to someone 100s (if not 1000s) of places away from me and escort them into the store. How can it be looked at any other way?

I noticed exactly the same thing. Then I realized that my charging cable which has shipped also shows pending, so it's very confusing.

Or the opposite. The 42mm SS with black sport band is a model apple probably predicted to be very popular and as a result they've been stockpiling them at distribution centers over the past month. Your status could change tomorrow night and you could still get it Friday.

They haven't received a watch before you so it's very easy to see it another way. Just because somebody is already preparing for shipment and your order is still processing does not mean they'll get it Friday and you won't.

Later orders are coming from shipments directly out of China. Earlier orders will be shipping from stock in your country.

This makes the most sense out of everything I've heard. I've run a distribution center before and worked for a major air freight carrier and in my experience, this rings very true.

It's likely more of a logistics/distribution center location issue than the exact time your order was placed. If history repeats I think many people will get little to no notice Thursday and still get a Friday delivery

No he is. According to other posts a cc charge is no indication of an expected delivery date. Your window is your window. Which kind of makes sense with the May and June people getting charges. Speaking of which haven't kept up with the speed of this thread but you been charged brotha?

Same here. I know I am past the processing phase, but the preparing for shipment phase is a monster in itself. I am in WV there are NO distribution sites around haha So yeah, this REALLY sucks. Would be nice if EVERYONE could get it the 24th.
 
If I leave a note on the door with my signature will the UPS guy leave my package there if I am not home?
 
I tracked by reference on fedex and see this. No estimated delivery date but it does say in progress.

That used to work for me until my last iPhone delivery (I used the release waiver Apple provides.) The driver wrote "I need a signature on the pad" and left a "missed delivery note."

It may have been a one time incident but I'm not trying it on Friday. I'll be home to sign for the delivery.
