I think it is not related. The chargers are not coming in on the same shipments as the apple watches. If compared to cases for iphones they would ship days before the product released.

+1 enough with the charging cables. We get it. Once the watch starts shipping, start taking screenshots.
Just got my "preparing for shipment" notification for charger as well and my card has been charged! If the chargers are preparing to ship now to arrive on Friday, our watches should be updating today as well..if they are going to arrive on Friday as well.
Actually, the watches might be shipping overnight in which case we might not get notifications until tomorrow or Wed. I'm keeping the faith!

I'm hoping we see watch shipment notifications in the next couple days and maybe a good sign that the cables are shipping.
I wonder if Apple is shipping or preparing to ship the watch accessories now to get them out and will do the same process for the watches on Tuesday or Wednesday?
Must be updating something cause I just got "sorry, something went wrong" when checking my order status.
It's done by an automated system that doesn't have feeling so shouldn't be too miserable.
Or, put another way, the Watch is the one they want you to buy due to the incredible margins and the fact that it's more affordable to most buyers than the Edition (that has the really incredible margins).
The Sport has fairly poor margins compared to Watch and Edition.
Heh, you really think there's "a guy" for this? There is software that does this automatically. A UPS/FedEx/whatever shipping employee will scan an Apple Watch box and only *then* will the corresponding order status update!

Can we start another thread for the cables dispatching. We get it. Well done, we are all delighted. But frankly, who cares. What point is a charger without the watch.
I don't think it's a sign at all. We always knew we would get notifications this week, we just didn't know when. The best guess was Monday - Tuesday based on previous orders. I am hopeful it will be today, but if not, tomorrow.

The extra charging cable that I ordered separately has now moved to "preparing for shipment". While I'm not the first to post this I think it is worth noting that my window for delivery on this item is April 23rd - April 28th. Just one more data point.
