Delivery Exception - Now 8pm Tonight for Deliveries

Ok, well literally 5 minutes after my post, the FedEx guy just came to deliver them.
Just delivered into my waiting hands. Fedex guy said some trucks are half filled with iPads and half with Verizon phones.
My roommate signed for mine while I was gone and he said the FedEx guy said today has been a total *****how, it took him 5 minutes just to be able to pull up the screen to sign for the package. Anyhow, I have mine and my back case came today as well so all is good here. Just waiting on screen protectors and my smart cover.
What's the point in preordering...
when everyone is going to get a damn iPad before you? I could have waited at Best Buy this morning and been using my new shiny iPad, but instead... I sit here waiting all morning and afternoon for Fed Ex to deliver a package that was barely a few miles away from my home!
They just changed my time to 9PM, flipping fed ex SUCKS!!!

YAY!!! Just got mine delivered from FedEx, which is kind of weird since it still shows as "at FedEx facility".
Mine showed up at 11AM! Good luck everyone! It might have actually worth it not to sit out in the cold waiting.
Is FedEx supposed to hire more drivers for 1 day? Blame Apple for not dividing up the shipments with other services!
Mine changed this morning as well ... still shows a delivery time of today but now by 8:00
Talked to FedEx rep and they said any order from apple for today they worked out and agreement with them that it was ok to deliver these packages late and that though they may arrive arrive late they will still deliver today.
Still wondering why mine says it was loaded on the truck but then like 27 minutes later its got a delivery exception .......

This status never changed all morning or said on vehicle for delivery after it changed over to "Delivery Exception" ... But ....
It just arrived here at 11:30AM (west coast CA. time).
Then 10 after I get back in and unbox then refresh my tracking page it says delivered!
It came on one of those large ugly FedEx mini vans and he said all he was delivering was iPads today. He said the reason for the exception and weird tracking was how they had to scan it in to the specific route for that normal area then have the exception added to the system to load it on a different vehicle.
So don;t worry guys it will be coming and may not be late at all considering more than likely your area is the same as mine and you will have a specific person delivering your new iPad.
Showed up perfect and is being set-up as we speak.
Good luck all ... just wanted to share my experience and the info I got to help sooth some of your minds out there.
Was at work and missed an 11:00am attempted delivery(was hoping by 3pm like they said). Called up and they told me to drive to their warehouse a little before 8pm to pick it up if I wanted it today or wait till monday. Needless to say I was foaming at the mouth but still kept my composure and decided to place it on hold and pick up in the evening or early morning tomorrow.
Out of curiosity I called my local Best Buy near work and they had plenty of stock left of the same model I ordered ready to go out the door. I decided to wait still to avoid the hassle of shipping a return to apple. If I knew this was going to happen I would have just bought the damn thing on my lunch break.
Major inconvenience.

You can take it to a physical Apple store and return it for a full refund.
I understand that but I am just not willing to buy the same iPad twice and make two unnecessary drives as well as the hassle of going to my local mall and returning something.
Very True ... UPS delivered my damn iPhone 4S at 9:15 at night !!!
At least FedEx is giving a heads up that "Maybe" it will be late an not by 3 like they normally deliver due to massive amount of deliveries they have today.
I think this delivery exception thing is fair to do but I think they should have better info on their tracking page cause looking at the page with the exception then deliver at a later date and then going to the FedEx yahoo tracking and it shows your package had a delivery attempt will really freak WAY to many people out.
They are doing something good ... but just in the wrong way.
But don;t fret .... they are on their way and will be to you soon I'm sure.

So you are upset because you were at work and FedEx said they'd deliver it BY 3:00 and it was delivered at 11:00 am, which is BY 3:00? Why the mouth foaming and near loss of composure?
I never had a package delivered by them before 12 pm, I now understand they are overloaded with delivering these things so I see why I got a package that early. I got off work early at 12pm and then see this notice on my door, its kinda irritating to say the least especially when I could have just bought it easily during my lunch brake and avoided a long drive to my local fedex office.
Actually, last year... I got in and out of Best Buy, within an hour! I just thought that pre-ordering it might save me some time, but look now... I have to wait around all day, because Fed Ex can't do it's job right! I don't blame Apple, they did their part, it is Fed Ex who is dropping the ball, not Apple!
