Is FedEx supposed to hire more drivers for 1 day? Blame Apple for not dividing up the shipments with other services!

Yes, I should blame Apple, because Fed Ex is such a small little delivery service that is no where near prepared to do such a large amount of shipping... My blow horn! Fed Ex is the one dropping the ball on this NOT APPLE! Apple did their part, they got it out, to Fed Ex, believing Fed Ex would get it out to the customer!

I won't be preordering next time. No lines at all. Mine doesn't even show on the truck yet! Fail!

Relax--it's quite possible it will be delivered without the tracking system showing on the truck to be delivered.

I almost always buy everything online from Apple, as I figure having it brought to my doorstep is infinitely better than driving over to the Apple Store (I live within 8 miles of two) and getting it myself. :D

Let me guess--when you were a kid (assuming you are over 18 now), you pestered your parents during car trips by asking "are we there yet?", every five minutes. :p

Delivery exception at 2:55. ETA now 5:45 PM. My brother ordered his about the same time on the Apple store. Status said ships by Monday. He walked into Best Buy this morning. They had plenty. He's been using his for about 6 hours :(. I played with it and am thrilled how great non-retina optimized apps and videos look :)

when everyone is going to get a damn iPad before you? I could have waited at Best Buy this morning and been using my new shiny iPad, but instead... I sit here waiting all morning and afternoon for Fed Ex to deliver a package that was barely a few miles away from my home!

They just changed my time to 9PM, flipping fed ex SUCKS!!!

I totally agree with this its 3:30 est and still no ipad when FedEx shows a 3pm delivery time:mad:

I should have just took my a$$ to Wally-World

----------

Just noticed they took the time off my shipment completely.... This really is crap!

Pre-Ordering is a perk and Apple should have known FedEx was not able to keep up with the shipment!

So pre-ordering has no advantages cause everyone will have theirs before us:mad:

Fedex is a joke!!

Unbelievable!!!!!!!!!!!! I've been waiting home all day today... had the presigned delivery form filled out and taped to the front door just in case... and all of a sudden the tracking now says "Delivery Exception - Customer not available or business closed". A BLATANT LIE by the Fedex driver!!!! He never even attempted to deliver it to my house. No door tag nothing.:mad::mad:

Well I just got the e-mail notification from my doorman (NYC) that a FedEx package arrived! I wonder what it could be? :D

Sticker on the door! Now I can't get it until 10A tomorrow...

Just FYI that when I missed my iPhone 4S delivery and found the sticker on my door, I was able to pick it up at the local facility that night. I just had to wait until the driver returned with the truck. They would normally get back to facility around 7pm and the customer pickup is open until 8pm, so you could always try that option if your facility is open that late.

I can't believe...

I just cannot believe that I have had to wait around all day for this... I am so tempted to just send it back, if it doesn't arrive tonight!

FedEx customers - don't worry

I want to repeat same as others: mine showed "delivery exception" like everyone else (business address). First call I was told it will be by 8pm, explained we close at 5p. Called a couple of hours later and was told there would be NO delivery today. I asked it to be held at station and was told won't be returned until 8pm. Was told can have redelivery Saturday.

An hour later it showed up (3pm or so) despite the incorrect information.

So just hang in there.

Actually, pre-ordering allows you to get it without leaving your house, apartment, townhome and/or work/office area. So still an advantage.

Mine arrived just before 1pm after getting the exception this morning with a changed delivery date.

The Fedex guy came in a rental mini-van because they ran out of delivery vehicles. Gotta give them credit, they are trying really hard to get these out.

Mine had delivery exception delivered by 7:59pm. It was delivered (at least a box was) at 11:45am. Now if only work would end!

I would be so pissed.

Both UPS and Fedex (more often UPS, though) drivers have played that game with me where I am home and they enter "Customer Unavailable" into the system.

Personally, I think they run out of time and just start "dumping" deliveries back into the system...

I feel your pain...as it's happened to me before...and even more frustrating is the fact that those of us who did not plan ahead..and who waited till today to buy in-store...already have ours. I would be furious.

The iPhone 4 pre-orders were handled beautifully, though...with most of our pre-orders arriving the day BEFORE launch...(a small consolation for all the drama we went through trying order online in Great Apple Meltdown of 2010 LOL)

Best of luck everybody.

But why would delivery people not ring the doorbell and hope for someone to take the package? I know it happens but I don't see the incentive since they have to deliver it later and they're literally right there anyways.

Wow, now I'm glad mine came UPS! They usually don't deliver here until late afternoon but showed up at 9am this morning.

I hope you all get yours soon.
