Oh that would be wonderful. I'll have to let it warm up before unboxing it though, it is a chilly 6℉ (-14℃) here today. I have not cleaned or cleared my desk on purpose, that way I'll be forced to let the iMac sit and warm up while I get a new home ready for it

If you remove it from the box and set it up on a table, you can inspect it for scratches and admire it while it comes to room temperature. :) Mine will warm up on the brightly lit kitchen table, not in my dark cave of an office where it will live and work.

p.s. brrrrrr

I am going to stand mine in front of the coal fire to warm so its toasty before I power it up.

will it be better if I take it out of the box first tho

I wouldn't heat it up too quickly if I were you. That can cause just as much condensation. I'd let it warm at a normal rate to prevent issues.

man what do you do when they can't find your house? I think the delivery guy bailed on me because he couldn't find my address :/ says "delivery exception"

Good idea ;). Mine will also be living in a cave like area, not the most attractive work area, but so long as I get my work done I don't care how it looks in here. I will not be posting in the 'show your desk set up' thread lol.

So is it ok to remove it from it's box right away? I was under the impression I should leave it in the packaging for a few hours so that no condensation will build up on the computer itself.

It sure is cold up here, and I must go clear some snow so the driver can get to my door and back to his truck safely :)

Edited to add:
Tracking updated to "on truck for delivery". Oh happy day!!!!

Interesting. Mine marked as shipped at 3:47am. Left Shanghai at 2:56pm Shanghai time. Shouldn't have a problem making a noon flight. But how can you tell?

Post your tracking history and I can help you find the flight. If it's just "Left FedEx origin facility", then it's not flying yet. If it's "Departed FedEx location" or "In transit", you can use FlightAware.com to find the FDX flight that left at that exact time or within minute or two.

Flight 90 just left a few minutes ago at 11:12pm their time.

So, if I have this:

- 1/14/2013 - Monday
10:32 pm In transit SHANGHAI CN
10:31 pm International shipment release - Import SHANGHAI CN
2:56 pm Left FedEx origin facility SHANGHAI CN
11:27 am Picked up SHANGHAI CN

you would say that I'm on Flight 90 to Memphis?

My office is never gonna look good in a photo, though I haven't landed on 'Hoarders' yet.

Up there in the cold north, you probably have gas heat cranking this time of year and 0% humidity and likely no reason to worry about condensation. More of a risk of zapping yourself on a doorknob with static, I'd think.

Be careful while shoveling, don't want to spoil an otherwise perfect day.

:apple: It's hereeeeee!! And came a day early. My son had a doctors appt this morning. We got home 15-mins before it was delivered. Now have it unpacked, sitting on the kitchen table to warm up before booting up. Playing may have to wait till tomorrow, duty calls. :( Just happy she's here!

Shoveling all done without a mishap, it is now a safe zone for Mr. FedEx Guy.

Good point about no humidity here. I am constantly getting shocked, to the point where I try to tap anything metal or anything living with my elbow before touching it with my hand

I would think so, yes, but it's a bit odd that it's 10:32 not closer to 11:12. No other FedEx (FDX) flights left today, so you must be on it.

Your package should show as "in Memphis" tonight about 12:30amCT/1:30amET. FedEx outbound planes fan out across the country around 3am, so I expect you'll receive it tomorrow.

EDIT: Looking back at my shipment history, the package was in fact "IN TRANSIT" well before the flight actually departed.

Watch it crawl minute by minute across the Pacific here: http://flightaware.com/live/flight/FDX90

Not on any flight yet, according to that tracking info. If you are in the US, expect delivery 16th if it missed FDX90 today and 15th if it made the flight.
