Wow, fantastic.

I'm happy with my new 2005FPW - anyway my Radeon 9600 Pro can't handle a 30".

The Dell displays are a great value nowadays.

Apple needs to take a good look at Dell's offering and either match it on price or beat it soundly on features and quality. Otherwise people will lose interest in the Apple 30".

Maybe we'll see Apple's answer at MWSF?

Thank god! someone else thinking!! but 4 USB would be nice(my iMac which cant use this anyway only has 3 USB) And FW has less use for ME that it did when the iPods supported them.

I have a dual 2.5 G5 and an "older" Nvidia GeForce 6800 Ultra DDL. I don't see anywhere that the 6800 will drive it... (I know it drives apple's 30") Do you guys think it would before I decide to throw down $2200 for something that won't work?

First off I just wanted to throw in my vote for Dell against the Apple screens. I've had my 2405FPW for a few months now and it's flawless.
Absolutely perfect color, sharpness, brightness, etc. And you can't beat the memory card reader, the vertical rotation, and all the extra inputs which I use to hook up the PS2 and Xbox at college. There are no dead pixels and no pink hue, and I got it for $800! There's no way the Apple casing and 2 firewire ports is worth giving up all those extra features and $300 (for edu price).

Anyway... The 3007FPW looks really nice. Won't be buying one anytime soon though because I have other things to spend my money on and the desk my dad built at school doesn't have enough room for it. But one thing I did notice is... it looks like they got rid of the component, s-video, and composite inputs. I don't care that much about s-video and composite, but I'd hate to lose the component input for hooking up next-gen game consoles (unless they can be connected to the HDCP input?).

Yea it will, the Apple and the Dell both take the same DVI dual link connector. It will work just fine.

Not much less than Apples display. At $2200 its an ok price but definitely not undercutting apples price tremendously. :p

I bought a 23" about a year ago, and its performed wonderfully. While Dells monitors are a bit cheaper, I think there is always a price to pay for getting the cheapest hardware on the market...

I don't think dell's price is low enough to suck in a lot of people. IMO $2500 vs. $2200 isn't that big of a difference, and a lot of people will be willing to pay $300 more for the better looking monitor (apple). The only reason Dell's 20" is so much more popular than apple's is because it's half the price. Dell should lower this thing to $2000 asap.

I'm torn between the two....but I have to say if it was MY money I'm leaning towards the Apple. I don't have much desire to give Dell $2200 for a display when I can get a similar one from Apple for just three hundred more.

I love my 2005FPW, but that display is the same panel as Apple's 20" PLUS it's $350 cheaper AND it has three more inputs AND USB 2.0. the 30" Dell isn't as great a value as that over the 30" Apple.

Good question.. would DDL mean DVI Dual Link? The Card has 2 DVI ports, although maybe that doesn't mean it's Dual Link.

If i remember correctly the 6800 Ultra had 2 dual link DVI connections. This meant you could connect 2 30" displays to it.

edit: I found a table in the PowerMac Manual that says the same thing.
