Wait - DO you think it’s an owners manual? Like “how to adjust the cruise control?” That’s why I asked if you’re trolling - because you’re so adamant about this without actually knowing what the iPads are for. It’s not the instructions for and IKEA airplane.

I am not adamant about anything, this is my original comment:

"I do not know what IFR is but if the pilot has to refer to a manual to operate the aircraft I will be very worried"

are you saying the pilot does not know how to operate the aircraft without a manual?
A pilot would have to consult the manuals for an unexpected event.

But even something as mundane as take-off and landing a list is consulted. The list used to be paper based...but now it is electronic.

So yeah, manuals are needed electronic or paper. Leaving off a step could cause the aircraft to crash.

Every major airline in the US uses the iPad for charts, manuals etc and has been for years now. My airline bought the Air 3 a few years back and we're due for a refresh soon. I think an Air makes more sense than a Pro - I'd rather carry the lightest device possible for a given screen size.

Heh - I wrote this about a year and a half ago, and I'm just now picking up my new iPad from flight ops on Thursday. :p At least I got my wish that it's an M1 Air and not a Pro.
