Demand for Apple TV+ programs is increasing as its shows become more popular in the United States, according to demand data from research company Parrot Analytics (via Business Insider).

Apple TV+ mostly underwhelmed audiences and critics in the months after its launch, and this has been supported by data based on social media, fan ratings, and piracy. However, new research by Parrot Analytics shows that the streaming service's "second wave" of original programs was much more popular with audiences than its launch titles, suggesting that it is gaining momentum after a lackluster start.

"Defending Jacob" was Apple's biggest original series so far based on viewership, desire, and engagement. The show was on average 29.5 times more in demand than the average series in the U.S. during its first 60 days on the platform. The second most in-demand Apple TV+ show was "Truth Be Told," followed by M. Night Shyamalan's "Servant." None of the top three shows were part of Apple TV+'s launch lineup.

Although comedy "Ted Lasso" only places ninth, Parrot Analytics noted that the show is quickly catching on with viewers, receiving positive word-of-mouth. While Defending Jacob was fast to attract an audience, demand for Ted Lasso has been slow but steady, eventually overtaking Defending Jacob.

Overall, the data suggests that Apple TV+ is finding its feet as a streaming platform despite its slow start, with the demand for its original programs increasing over time.

I really enjoyed Ted Lasso even tho I don’t care about football and liked The Morning Show even though every character on that show deserves what’s coming to them.

i also tried Defending Jacob and literally watching Servent right now but I have this rule that if I end up playing with my phone in the first episode, then I should stop watching. Both are so slow! And Servent doesn’t even have a Chris to look at

Am I the only one that doesn't understand the hype for defending jacob? I thought the first 3 episodes were fantastic, but the rest of the series, and especially the ending, was below average. I just sat on my couch after the last episode thinking that couldn't possibly be it.

Only watched The Morning Show and Servant. The first was great the second good enough, other than that I tried to watch Amazing Stories and Truth Be Told but quit as both the acting and writing were appalling. Also watched On The Rocks, which was terrible story-wise. The other shows and movies are plainly uninteresting to my liking... I'm betting on Foundation to save this service which quite frankly seems doomed since the very beginning.

Check out Ted Lasso and Mythic Quest: Raven's Banquet. Both are terrific in their own way. Ted lasso is optimistic and wonderful, Mythic Quest is just hilarious and sweet, and the middle-of-the-season episode is probably the best movie on the whole service.

Tehran was quite good. Predictable spy double cross thriller but really good.
Agreed. Apple TV has been a pleasant surprise especially cause it’s free for one year. I spent significant time watching Tehran, servant were really good. Tehran had some annoying parts. Servant was really good. Also long way up was really pleasant to watch pre-pandemic life. Very positive show in these uncertain times.

Watched both Tehran and Servant with wifeypoo and she liked both (aka didn't want to stop once.) It's always difficult to find something we both like, so to me, both of those are successful.

I just wish they hadn't chosen (forced) electrics for Long Way Up. The first two series were completely captivating a decade(+) ago, but somehow a show that should be completely engrossing to me ends up making me roll my eyes WAY too often. I get that they're both no longer in their 30's but again, the first two made it seem like they were really trying to make it on their own, and when they did use the support crew, you felt like it was completely justified through no fault of their own. LWU just contains way too many "looks like we've gotta call in the generator truck" events. (Maybe take that with a grain of salt as I own/ride a BMW so...)

I've been nothing but impressed with the quality of shows on Apple TV+. There still aren't enough, but it's getting there. Production is top notch. My faves are Defending Jacob and Tehran.

I think once shows start racking up more awards and picking up more word of mouth viewership, we'll see it get more and more popular. Maybe it'll even drive hardware sales (which is what I'm guessing is Apple's intent here).

All you need to know is that not everyone is going to like or dislike what you like or dislike. Hye, I never got the appeal of Oprah, Ellen, or for the most part the daytime talk shows but they seem very popular. Defending Jacob was good but I agree with you IMO it doesn't make my favourite show list for AppleTV+ shows other disagree with us by rating it so high... cool thing is we are all right. :)

What about "The Long Way Up"? Why isn't anybody talking about it? Great show, amazing shooting. Far better than Servant which was quite boring to me, BTW.
I want to "See" more. Please, do it "For All Mankind" (pun utterly intended). :)
And more Tiny World, please.
Tehran was interesting, slow paced but bearable. And I do miss The Morning Show.
Defending Jacob? Well.. I'll give it a "B".
