What about "The Long Way Up"? Why isn't anybody talking about it? Great show, amazing shooting. Far better than Servant which was quite boring to me, BTW.
I want to "See" more. Please, do it "For All Mankind" (pun utterly intended). :)
And more Tiny World, please.
Tehran was interesting, slow paced but bearable. And I do miss The Morning Show.
Defending Jacob? Well.. I'll give it a "B".
Carlos
I loved Long Way up! The decisions the character in Tehran made was infuriating, like choosing to party with that guy and putting herself in compromising positions. I like other parts of it though very intense. Servant was WEIRD but also great.

I wasn't into their big shows they advertised like Morning Show or See, but I certain liked other shows.

Check out Ted Lasso and Mythic Quest: Raven's Banquet. Both are terrific in their own way. Ted lasso is optimistic and wonderful, Mythic Quest is just hilarious and sweet, and the middle-of-the-season episode is probably the best movie on the whole service.
This sums up my thoughts on the service. I’m not even a big fan of comedy! The mid-season episode of Mythic Quest was a surprise gut punch. I actively avoid sports movies/tv and Ted Lasso is my fav show of the year.

Serious question, who's actually paying for this? I know its only $5 a month but I still

The data provided is meaningless. How many people ACTUALLY watch these shows? I’m sure it’s far less than broadcast and cable, so the average series has perhaps 50k views. A ‘hit’ maybe 1,000,000 or so at best.

So you replace meaningless data with a speculation. Hm...

Apple TV+ could have the 30 best shows and movies ever created, but that doesn’t mean much when all they have are around 30 items.

Why pay $60/yr for a service when you could just get one month once per year and watch everything they have on there? Especially after one free year.

That’s true but I also applaud that they create most of their content and not rely heavily on old stuff. They’re playing this over time for sure.

I do like that, but they must be playing the loooooooonnnnnggggg game lol. If they continue at this rate, that honestly means that I’ll only pay for 1 month per year for at least the next 7-8 years.

I definitely don’t expect them to create 5-10 new shows/movies per month, but even they should realize that eventually people will say in their head “I’ve seen everything on Apple TV already” and will make it difficult to get those subscribers back if they don’t have enough content to keep people happy throughout the year.

If you consume a lot at once, that may be true - and why pay more then. Honestly I have no clue how they’ll evolve that business but my expectations are that it will scale with growing subscription numbers.

I have overall been disappointed with Apple+, but thankfully Ted Lasso has been the first show I actually like past the 2nd episode. The documentary of the Elephant Queen, Bestie Boys, and the show about the houses and Tiny World have given me hope.

Tehran and Long Way Up look interesting, so I hope they won't let me down like For All Mankind but Apple really needs expand the programing a bit more.

They also now have Long way round and Long way down available which you can view as a “primer” for LWU. All three very nice shows in my opinion.

I really enjoyed Ted Lasso even tho I don’t care about football and liked The Morning Show even though every character on that show deserves what’s coming to them.

i also tried Defending Jacob and literally watching Servent right now but I have this rule that if I end up playing with my phone in the first episode, then I should stop watching. Both are so slow! And Servent doesn’t even have a Chris to look at
Ted Lasso was freaking awesome, best series I've ever seen.

See was ok. Interesting, but flawed, and got a bit silly in the end.

For All of Mankind started off interesting, but then declined into a boring soapy.

I tried watching Dickinson, but the stereotyping was terrible, shallow, and unwatchable. I only got as far as finishing the first episode. If you want to watch a show where every man is an idiot, and every woman a strong powerful woman, then yep, you'll lap it up. Unfortunately there is far too much of this common theme throughout the Apple TV+ catalogue. I really did enjoy the wikipedia article of Emily Dickinson though, fascinating stuff that led me off on the wikipedia/google trail for a few hours.

The Morning Show was excellent and balanced with lots of different viewpoints up until the final episode, but then switched to a lop-sided metoo hunt. Everyone got what they deserved, but only if what they deserved followed these rules:
Man hits on woman at work: creep, string him up
Woman hits on man at work: Oh how cute and adorable, but check she isn't a victim, and possibly string up the man just in case.
Man is aware of a man hitting on a woman at work and does nothing: creep, string him up
Woman is aware of a man hitting on a woman at work and does nothing: these strong powerful independent women are victims, string up the man, and promote both women.
Man is aware of a woman hitting on a man at work: mind your own business you creep, both men should be strung up.
Woman is aware of a woman hitting on a man at work: man is probably a creep, string him up.
Man takes advantage of power at work: creep; guilty; string him up
Woman takes advantage of power at work: victim, will most likely commit suicide, poor thing.
Man gets seduced: probably a creep, should be investigated
Woman gets seduced: definitely a victim, probably should call it rape, regardless, string the man up

Not a single woman got punished for what they did or knew. The men on the other hand suffered everything from ruined careers and public humiliation, to a physical beating.

I wish I could give a "mixed" reaction to your post. I agree strongly with some points and disagree strongly with others (Particularly the Morning Show bit where I think you're projecting a bit because I watched the same show as you and didn't zero in on this like you).

It seems as though Apple TV is not something to take seriously as a streaming service. It’s more of an added perk to your Apple hardware purchase.

That's fine. So just tell me which women in The Morning Show got any punishment at all for the part they played?

No hard numbers on paid subscribers or viewership! I think this is CBS Access with their presentation style!

re: the chief enabler - Alex gets divorced and has a generally miserable and empty existence. I think her life is bad enough as it is.

Also, Hannah was totally raped. That was the most uncomfortable scene I've ever witnessed in my life. The male weather anchor that was seduced ended up in a consensual relationship. The bigger issue was that he felt uncomfortable pursuing her because he was her superior. He was happy with the actual attraction/relationship.

Thanks for the Ted lasso recommendation. It’s a great show. Positivism in these uncertain times.

Started watching Ted Lasso just because I had nothing else to do and surprised me how good it is. I still have a few episodes left.
Great show. I’m surprised no one is talking about this. There would be more buzz it it was on Amazon or Netflix.

So Alex got absolutely no punishment. Someone having a **** life is not punishment in the eye of the law.

Hannah was not raped. She had regrets, but at no point did she stop him. A man can't magically read a woman's mind, she has to communicate. Her failure to communicate and stop him is her failure, not him raping her. Someone having sex they regret is not punishment in the eye of the law.

Again, there was no single woman punished.

1) Preposterous. You do not know what constitutes the "eyes of the law." I'm someone who knows law very well, and I can assure you that the law has nothing to do with this.

2) Wow, that is a vile enabler attitude you have there. You witnessed a rape and instead decided in your all knowing wisdom that it was her failure to communicate which was the problem. The entire show just whooshed right over your head. The whole point was that when someone feels coerced into sex because of the power dynamic they feel that they can't say anything to get out of it. I almost vomited at the grossness of that scene, if you rewatch it and see Hannah's face and eyes during that incident, the rape is absolutely paramountly apparent. I am abhorred, utterly abhorred at your comment. This is exactly the mentality which leads to rape. And you are approving it. And even calling for "punishment" for the hapless women. Gross. Utterly, unspeakably gross.

1) Your country must be different.
2) Not rape. Naive. One day you will work out how humans behave. Hope you don't get metoo'ed in the meantime.

1) I'm an American. I think, as an attorney, I'm more qualified to discuss American law than you.
2) Absolutely it was rape. And I'm not naive either. I stand by what I wrote and am disgusted at you doubling and tripling down.

1) I'm not in America, so we are talking about different law.
2) I'm just as disgusted at you that you can have a situation where a guy seduces a woman, and the woman secretly wishes she wasn't there, but fails to communicate that in any way, and thus goes through with the sex, giving the impression to the guy that it's all good, and then you could claim that as rape. That's terrifying as a guy, that I could have sex with a girl thinking she is all good with it, and I could be done for rape according to your version of the law. How can we possibly know if she fails to say no. No means no. But you can't have that both ways, guys have to have protection too.
