I'm sorry, where are these numbers coming from exactly? Apple doesn't release viewership data, and there has been zero buzz on Defending Jacob since maybe the month it launched. I've seen even less buzz over Truth Be Told. The biggest hype generator of the so called Second Wave has easily been Ted Lasso, which is ranked below the First Wave titles.
A quick check on the Pirate sites shows both those top tier titles ranked right next to zero. Quibi titles like The Fugitive are higher on the list ranked by activity.
If Defending Jacob was ever trending on social media it was due to the *ahem* wardrobe malfunction of its star Chris Evans. That needs to not be confused with genuine interest in the actual show.
Sorry but this is a fluff piece of dubious value from a questionable source.

I’ve had it for a year and watched 2 episodes of See, 1 episode of Tehran, and 1/2 episode of Raven’s quest. Could never get into them, no loss to me when the free subscription ends.

You’re kinda stated the obvious with, “The shows that debuted with the release of Apple TV weren’t as popular as the current releases.

“The shows that debuted from the first month of Netflix weren’t as popular as show that release now.” 🧐

I've watched nearly all of the Apple TV+ content save the stuff for children. I can honestly say that the Morning Show and See are my favorites - can't wait for season 2 of both. That said, I'm most excited for the Foundation series as the blade runner/Dune vibes are strong. If the AT+ offerings we have now are any indication, this will be well cast, shot and produced.

Watched both Tehran and Servant with wifeypoo and she liked both (aka didn't want to stop once.) It's always difficult to find something we both like, so to me, both of those are successful.

I just wish they hadn't chosen (forced) electrics for Long Way Up. The first two series were completely captivating a decade(+) ago, but somehow a show that should be completely engrossing to me ends up making me roll my eyes WAY too often. I get that they're both no longer in their 30's but again, the first two made it seem like they were really trying to make it on their own, and when they did use the support crew, you felt like it was completely justified through no fault of their own. LWU just contains way too many "looks like we've gotta call in the generator truck" events. (Maybe take that with a grain of salt as I own/ride a BMW so...)
It’s impossible to make that journey in electronic cars and bikes with out those support trucks in the southern most parts of chili. Agreed they should have just done traditional bikes.

Doesn't seem like that's what's being stated given that, based on what the article discusses, the measurements are based on popularity during the first 60 days after the show has premiered on the platform, so the context it is different.

I've been pretty happy with my free year of AppleTV+ and as part of my new Apple One bundle I feel the value is certainly there to continue it. It's more like "HBO" in that the amount of content is a lot less than Netflix but the overall quality and star power is higher. COVID hit them hard so a lot of the 2nd seasons got delayed from fall to early next year but so far here is what I've enjoyed...

1. Ted Lasso. THE BEST show of 2020 anywhere. This isn't a "comedy" and the trailers don't truly hint at what the show will become, I just tell anyone anywhere... even if you don't like sports, even if you aren't into comedy watch the first 3 episodes... they total just 90 minutes... THEN decide. It's amazing.

2. For all Mankind. Neat alternative history show about the space program if Russia got to the moon first and it ignited a cold war space race. What would have changed? Would there be war? Would it have changed how social norms we take for granted developed, for the best or for worse? Sooner or later? Very cool.

3. Servant. Creepy horror show by M Night that sorta doesn't go anywhere (downside) but makes you keep watching just in case it does.

4. Defending Jacob. A great performance Captain America himself in a crime whodunit that keeps you guessing until the end. Not everyone loves the final surprise but I think most will still appreciate the series no matter what.

5. The Morning Show. Looks like it will be a silly "chick flick" show about morning shows. Instead if you get past the first few paint by numbers episodes it becomes something much deeper and a commentary on modern society. Incredible performances including by Jennifer Aniston (likely the best work she has ever done) and worthy of the Emmy nods it got.

6. Greyhound. A big budget Tom Hanks World War II drama about sub warfare that isn't on the par with Saving Private Ryan or anything but is exactly what you expect a Tom Hanks World War II drama still to be... excellent.

7. Long Way Up. The continuation of the celebrated series that follows real life Ewan McGregor and his friend as they travel the world on motorcycle to discover cultures and celebrate their friendship.

8. Home Before Dark. A 5th grade girl and amateur reporter, wise beyond her years, seeks to solve a murder in her new town against the wishes of nearly all the adults. A good tween -> adult drama that's darker and more exciting than you would think.

I resisted Tehran because I thought it’d be the typical Mossad propaganda.
While there are elements of this, it is much more nuanced than that.
I also enjoyed Tom Hanks’ Greyhound as it was the first I watched with Spacial Sound. That alone adds to the overall experience.
Now will I keep it when it’s no longer free? That’s the question.

Wasn't House of Cards their first original? That was pretty popular. If anything I think Netflix's original stuff reputation has gone downhill since. Used to be quality, now it's more throw-everything-at-the-wall-and-see-what-makes-a-pattern-that-looks-like-the-face-of-jesus.

Did you watch it in the bath?

And yet the best device to watch Apple TV+ content, the Apple TV, hasn't been updated in 1152 days and counting.

To be fair looking at all that data I think most of those views are Ar40.

Nevertheless, For All Mankind, Mythic Quest, Ted Lasso, Long Way Up and The Morning Show have been big hits in our household. That and the big M on Disney+ has edged Netflix out almost completely these last couple of months.

WTF @ "Mossad Propaganda." What does that even mean?
