Given that no one else has had success with 4" phones ever since big phones became the rage, I'm not surprised that Tim Cook underestimated demand for the SE.

Well, that's kind of the point, isn't it? Apple under Cook is a follower, not a leader. "Big phones are the new hot thing? We can do that too!"

Such statements mean very little . When you control supply, you can create an illusion of demand.

They played the same games with the Apple Watch , anytime you ask an apple executive how something is performing, the responce very positive.

Next quarter results will tell the truth.

If the 7 comes without a headphone jack, I might pick up the SE. Done with paying premium pricing to have features removed needing an adapter....

actually it doesn't make any sense economically to purposefully control supply in exchange for demand. you may gain more interest but you lose a lot of the pricing power. it's smarter to price better to control demand than to control demand through limited supply.

ie, when the wii came out it sold out like crazy. nintendo lost a lot of money in the aftermarket from people who sold the wii's at a premium, sometimes double. nintendo would've been smarter to just price the wii higher so supply can meet demand and they make up all that revenue.

Keep in mind that the iPhone 5 was probably the final iPhone design that Steve Jobs held and approved.

Everytime I hold my 6s I almost drop the slippery little fish, but my wife's SE is perfect to hold.
The original 3G was awful to hold……..

This is meaningless until they release the sales numbers. Demand could be high because Apple only made 1,000 phones and maybe only 1,500 people want the SE, thus creating the illusion of BIG numbers.

sure, it's much better for tim cook to mislead shareholders than to make money off that extra 500 people.

Well that is because no one else have a "high" end 4" phone, all the smaller Android phone are really cheap stuff with specs way lower than they would need and most of the time never recieve an update, no wonder they do not sell...

Only Tim Cook is surprised. The SE is currently the only iPhone in their line up that makes sense, it would have been surprising for it not to sell well. Hopefully they'll release an iPhone 7 of that size.

Gotta say, Rose Gold looks beautiful on the SE, it really stands out.

Yeah, it's amazing what a new color can do to a nearly 4-year-old design. Maybe Apple should've introduced one or two more new colors for the SE. Well, maybe next year Apple will introduce a new iPhone design that comes in three screen sizes (4-4.3", 5" and 5.8"), all sharing the same body style.

Unlikely this year, people will have to wait until next year for the next smaller screen iPhone, along with the redesigned tenth anniversary iPhone (see above).

I really want to get rid of my 6s+ and get a SE. I love the feel of it a lot more than the slippery 6, and looking at the specs it seems to have better battery life than the regular 6s, which is my primary reason for getting the 6s+.

Do it, I did and I have been loving using my SE where as I barely touched my 6S+.

Let's rewind and assess what you just wrote - you have a BRAND NEW, VERY powerful phone, and yet, already, you are looking to the next iPhone to replace it only after a FEW MONTHS? Are you bored easily? That superb handset would be usable for 3-5 YEARS.

People make me laugh - enjoy LIFE, and stop harping on about the next gadget release - it's saddening and demonstrates a LOT about modern, fickle consumerism - do you want to be an example of that?

Man, I'd be delighted with even a 5S, and can't afford even that. Be grateful for what you have - hold onto it and get to know it, some people don't have the luxuries we do.

Maybe technology is one of his hobbies/interests? People who have it as a hobby see technology different to the rest who see it just as a tool and only replace when it stops doing its job.

Should have launched it with the 6s...
I would have bought the SE instead of this stupid ping pong paddle!

Sell the 6s and buy the SE. The resale value of the 6s will be the bulk of the cost of an SE. I sold my 6 for £250 to Apple and the SE was £439 for the 64GB , so only cost me £189 to get it.

This was a good move from Apple as some prefer smaller phones.
When the 2017 iphone is released hopefully the smaller version will be that a small flagship with no compromises.
