OK, tangent, do you think most people just assume tech forums are full of guys? Do you think its harder to be a woman on a predominately male forum... please, vent, let me feel your pain...

glutton for punishment, eh? :p

it's true though (what's been said), demi is not synonymous with respect. you gotta earn that all on your own.

no .. i felt like if you got the cash (7 cents or about per day) for the demi-status or not -- donate to site to help the site to grow even bigger ..  ..

iBlue: i know demi-status doesn't get ya right-away respect on the site but i know you gotta earn it and that takes time :D :D

thread jacker. :p (you might start a new thread about it [search first though, just in case] in the community area.) not sure how tight the rules are about topics going too far off subject in here. (that last bit was removed, if you recall. ;) )

oh I hope that didn't come out like I was implying you hadn't earned repsect. I was speaking in general.

foot, meet mouth.

I never knew you all bought your titles. Demi-God is nothing more than the "Lord of the manor of whatever" stuff they sell for £1500 at Sotheby's??

I feel cheated. Dirty even. What's $25? <hits F12 twice> £13.40. So that's the price of Godhood these days.

I hope you're all suitably ashamed.

<thinks about getting credit card out>

Titles such as 68030 are a rough indication of the time you've put into discussions at Macrumors, so the higher processors earn members some measure of respect, even though it's a quantitative (not qualitative) measure.

Become a paid member and changing to a Demi-God, Demi-Goddess, or Contributor title masks your "processor" title. So those with low post counts and those with high post counts become one and the same as far as how much respect the Demi title earns.

The Demi title indicates support of the site instead of participation in the site, so perhaps it's a different kind of respect. That's why we allow paid members to retain their post-based title, if they prefer, instead of switching to a Demi or Contributor title.

ha. yeah that's part of the deal... shamelessness. ;) (plus dirty)

Just for Support...

I have been a member for a while now: almost five years, I think. I contributed because I wanted to support the site... I don't post much anymore, but I might start again...

Correction: almost four years. The private forums are not all that great and used to be dominated by edesiner in the UK; what happened to that guy, anyway?

I seem to recall him writing that he'd done badly in some exams and needed to concentrate more on real life - but i may be wrong.

Just remembered, I asked a while back how I could delete acidental duplicate posts, turns out the demi's can, so there has to be more than just the demi name and access to private threads.

I'd forgotten about that too. Yes: post deletion (of your own), no-ad front page, access to private forums, demi/contributor tag unless you don't want one.

And, of course, the knowledge that you've supported the site.

Pshaw... If you're truly a regular, or you're just awesomely Spamtastic™ then you already support the site.

Well, yes, you have your fans, who add to the site traffic, which drives up revenue.

Me? I had to pay to help out.
