"9to5Mac reports that they are able to generate buzz and traffic with a 5 min photoshop mockup and even get the news spreaded on fools websites."

fixed for you.

Why do people care so much about app icons? How much time do you spend swiping between home screens versus how much time you actually spend in an app?

The important part here is not what the app icon looks like, but what the actual app looks like and the new functionality in all the apps.

I don't understand..Maps already has walking directions??

I read the whole thing. Still just a tad confused.

About the mockups: They are mockups, but I sure hope this is not close to what we will be seeing.

Regarding those images on the Chinese/Vietnamese site, they looked realistic... unfortunately. It looks like a very subtle makeover and not the complete makeover that many people are hoping for. I understand there is a fine line between satisfying the need for change, while preserving some aesthetics to not completely confuse your existing customers but I wish Apple manage to push the envelop a bit more.

Unfortunately, I think Apple will be playing it safe. 4h30 until we are happy or completely disappointed!:eek:

Agreed. The home screen is one thing, but I'm more interested in the actual access to menus and making things a little more flexible and accessible. For instance, wifi / airplane mode ...

I also wish they could introduce some updated animations and transitions.

Since it's a visual OS - yeah - looks are everything. Please don't kid yourself. I agree with what you're saying and understand it but again, iOS is all about the visuals. Hence the whole reason everyone was bitching about skeuphamorism or whatever the hell made up word it was last year that nobody ever knew about until some journalist made that **** up.

You get the idea :)

Awful, again as so many people have previously stated, I hope iOS7 isn't all about redesigned icons. I think its about time some elements from OSX come to iOS

Well on the plus side the ugly photos icon is better haha.

It's just a mock up, I would assume that the design team spent more than a hour on photoshop to recreate iOS.

Apple care about tiny details, it's why all the Android users get to prattle on about how android has this and that too, but when push comes to shove the detail and experience of iOS wins outright. I agree it needs feature improvements and is lacking significantly in a few areas but I don't want them to implement any of it unless it's done the Apple way. Maps for example was rushed out too soon and had it been released in the state it's in now, would have been much better.

If that's the new interface, I'm out. lol (this has to be a very poor attempt and false)

Oh sweet baby jesus, I hope it's nothing like that. I wouldn't mind if it were more like the following though.
YouTube: video

These are all JB tweaks, but I get the idea. But for God's sake... I still don't get people who think the Auxo task switcher makes any sense... There's a huge amount of hype around it, but I simply can't see why... The whole thing just makes recognizing apps a lot harder, and gives absolutely no useful extra information. I've tried it, so I know it. I disabled it in no time.

The best part about today is that people will stop serving up these inane mockups and link-bait rumour mongering as "fact"....

Lol so some new icons and a line instead of a nicer looking dock is all that's changing? Great innovation guys :/ If they plan on going this minimalistic I'd rather they keep the old icons which look way better.

They need to put these icons completely in the background and only called up when needed. Widgets etc is the way forward.

Hopefully this is completely wrong.

Widgets are a terribly niche gimmick.

They're not happening. People don't even use them in OS X, what makes you think they'll be useful in iOS?

Coming from a designer, I promise you iOS 7 will not look at all like that horrible mockup. Here is my reasoning:

No designer would look at that and like it. Furthermore, a team of designers led by Jony Ive would look at that and laugh their tîts off for hours on end, crawl into a ball, cry themselves to sleep over it, and then wake up the next day in a pool of sweat and urine from the nightmare caused by the possibility that it could EVER be what iOS 7 could look like.

Couldnt disagree more. Widgets are entirely useful. It should not require mutiple presses to change commonly used settings.
