It won't be called the iPhone 7 if it looks like an iPhone 6. It will be an iPhone 6 Something.

iPhone 6S SE?

EDIT: A lot of people beat me to this joke. :p

Apple is a brilliant company.

They've got millions of worshippers convinced that they are the ones Apple builds phones for. Yet in a stroke of genius Apple has spent the last couple of years delivering very minor improvements in the identical 6 series body.

Before that they watched iPhone users squint into a tiny display when Android makers offered large spacious displays in a few sizes.

Now on the eve of iPhone 7, many indicators suggest it's more of the same for the third consecutive year. Apple laughs all the way to the bank.

Now that is genius marketing :D

Yep. The Apple branding is incredibly strong, and they are taking huge advantage over it. What other company can get away with what Apple has gotten away? None that I can think of.

best site other than ebay and here to buy an iPhone? looking to now either keep my 6 or try a 6S.

Lol, Apple gives zero f anymore. They're like, "Well, they will be buy it anyway."

That's precisely the problem with those types of Apple fans. Those that'll buy anything Apple without scrutinizing them or recognizing what the competition is doing.

I hope Apple brings their A game this Fall.

I love Apple. But I think it's kinda annoying that they are slapping a "pro" moniker on their iOS devices now in an attempt to charge a premium and force people to pay up for the latest and greatest features. Features that normally would just be included in the latest iOS devices.

I'm really worried about that one specific rumor that says the new Dual Camera will only be in the "Pro" version of the new iPhone Plus model. So not even the Plus model itself, but the "Pro" version of the Plus model.

That's really unfortunate if true. Especially in a year that is rumored to offer little way in new features and innovations other than the dual camera.

I really hope Apple makes it standard across the regular and Plus model...

Wireless charging is a huge selling point for me. Still waiting to see how the headphone port thing turns out, if it's removed, if Apple provides an adapter, if it's not humongous.

Stereo speakers are a gimmick. The iPhone speaker is so distortion prone it makes conversations difficult when there is the addition of being a weak cell area. Apple would do better to work on putting in a single larger speaker. If people want to listen to music and stereo is important that is what portable speakers are for.

How does making the phone smaller mean more than being able to use an OS designed around having the Home Button? Which is more usable: a phone that's eaier to hold or a phone you actually use? iOS would have to have a vast redesign for the idea to be even remotely good.
I don't see the issue here. Apple adjusts iOS to work with a software button and integrate TouchID into the screen, reduces the overall footprint of the iPhone. Everybody wins, it's still as functional as ever, while being easier to hold and use.

He/She apparently doesn't realize even though Apple in the *previous* quarter gave guidance forecasting softening sales in the just ending quarter, and the numbers turned out to be within that guidance range, the market still and predictably reacted negatively. News at 11: Smartphone sales are softening industry wide.

Don't wish to correct you or anything, but Apple's numbers were BELOW expectations. I guess you didn't 'realise' that eh?

Looks like my iPhone SE will serve me until the proposed "iPhone 8." Fortunately for Apple, they at least got the iPhone SE right. Looking bleak for the iPhone 7 right now.

Cratering results is still 50m sales and cratering profits is still 10.5b in profits. You should remember their bad quarter for them makes their profits only slightly above half of Google's entire revenue for the quarter. Let's not act like they're doing horribly.

I also remember that share holders only care about increasing sales, not a drop in sales of the one product making you money! And they are not that far away from Alphabets market cap, so I'm not so sure about your comment of being above half of Google's revenue, are you just looking at Google only or all of 'Alphabets' businesses?

I like the idea of the iPhone 7 having the same dimensions, but only if two criteria are met:
1. Cool new features or specs
2. It fits 6, 6S, Plus cases!

That said, based on rumors, Apple is maybe saving its big guns for the 10th anniversary.

Since the "S" iterations aren't providing a sales or stock pop anymore, maybe Apple will finally take a more aggressive approach?

What if 2017 is iPhone 8? Or introduces a new nomenclature? And then 2018 is iPhone 9, etc.?

Even if the phones don't offer that much more each year, the branding alone could give more of a sales pop.

And BTW, personally, I hope iPhone gets thicker. 6/6S needs a case to be comfortable for me.

Apple's guidance for the last quarter was $50 to $53 billion for revenue, and ended up being $50.6 billion.

Apple's gross margin guidance was 39 to 39.5 percent and ended up being 39.4%.

I guess you have difficulty determining if actual realized numbers fall between the upper and lower numbers Apple provided as guidance from the previous quarter, eh?

I hope all these modest rumors and leaks ultimately prove wrong.

I would love to see Apple bring a more competitive iPhone to the market. That is to say, I'd love to see Apple leading at the actual technology rather than just leading at sales and profits. This applies to both hardware and software. There's plenty iOS can improve.

I'm right there with the iPhone 7...can't wait.

Yep, they are brilliant.

That's what I've been saying too, I could see Apple doing an iPhone 6 SE if it's going to similar to the 6 & 6S. 2016 may be the year of the SE model while major changes come next year for the 10th anniversary iPhone.

I have a feeling Apple won't use the number 6. It would be like an acknowledgment on their part that they "went lazy" with this year's design. The truth however could be that they needed to buy some time for the real next gen, redesigned iPhone release next year. Maybe the ME (4.7") and LE (5.5") will join the current SE (4.0") for some naming consistency when it comes to Apple's 'temporary' act of recycling an older design with a few minor cosmetic tweaks. It doesn't necessarily mean Apple will do horribly this year, just not as good as the last couple of years. I'm sure a good number of people will upgrade to this year's iPhone "by habit" and then a huge number of them will be motivated enough to upgrade to a sexy new iPhone design next year with a killer new mLED display and a cool new wireless charging system never seen before on a smartphone (maybe called AirPower, taking the AirPlay name into account). So perhaps in June 2016, a new iPhone 8 or SE/ME/LE 2 will be released with this year's iPhone becoming the "budget" iPhone.

Wow, what a surprise, you believe what Apple told you, I'll go by what the stock markets were expecting I.E. the Market, and they were BELOW those expectations.

But your comment to me was referencing my post about Apple being in the range of their guidance.

Yup, I did believe Apple's guidance and it was correct. Shocker...

It's a real hoot you ignored Apple's lower more realistic numbers, derived from their internal knowledge and accounting, and instead believed others' higher guesses. And what a surprise, they were of course wrong, as were you as a result. Tip: Pay attention to Apple's guidance rather than other peoples' guesses.

Why would I quote Apple's guidance when I referred to Market estimations?

Market estimates? Nice try. Take a look at your post #134:

"Don't wish to correct you or anything, but Apple's numbers were BELOW expectations. I guess you didn't 'realise' that eh?"

Which was in response to my post #82 where I specifically spoke about Apple's guidance.

Still, I think it's funny you chose to ignore Apple's lower and realistic numbers, which are issued a quarter in advance, with the benefit of Apple's internal knowledge and accounting, and went with others' outside guesses. And then took issue with me believing them.

You're not an investor, are you?

I was thinking coming back to iOS after 2 years with android. Had an 3GS and a 4.
But if iPhone 7 mantains the same design as 6S i'll pass. Wait another year.
