if you’re savvy enough to get close to 800-900 Or more for your 11 pro max I could see the justification. I’m going to put my phone on different sites this week just to get an idea of what people are offering. These are recent sales of 11 pro Max’s most of them are in good condition. Mine is in mint. this is just an idea Of what some are getting

Aside from the form factor, I can't find a reason to upgrade to the 12 Pro Max. I dont want to spend $700 (after trade-in) just to hold the phone differently.

Are there any improvements that I'm missing? The camera is essentially the same and the screen is the same. No FaceID improvements. Battery life is worse.

I am not bashing the 12 Pro, but am looking to help justify a purchase I dont think I need to make
Of course you are bashing it but it’s still a way better phone than yours :p
If the camera upgrade to you is not worth it then I don’t know why you are even looking for a new phone at all.
Well, again, I do not believe you really wanted to upgrade in the first place.

You seem to have answered your own question. It's slightly bigger, and that is it. Is that worth $700?

I have bought the 12 Pro and returned in less than 24 hours.
The phone hasn´t any magic.

It´s just an iPhone 11 S with square edges.
More CPU, a better camera that you are mainly unable to notice it.
5G, it could be the only reason, if you travel and use data a lot.

You could save money if you don´t buy it.

it totally disappointed me

TBH, if I had an 11 Pro then I would wait until next year with the X60 5G modem. I moved because I was out of contract otherwise I'd struggle to justify it TBH.

I love the 12 Pro and it's an amazing jump from the Xs though.

I've been in the same boat OP. I think for the first time since an iPhone was released that I'm not going to upgrade this year. The Pro Max does everything right and while I really like the new form factor I just don't know that its worth the upgrade for me this year.

Last year the killer battery life and night mode were the two features that compelled me to upgrade to the 11 Pro Max. I just don't know that there is that killer feature for me this year that makes me really want to do it. It certainly isn't MagSafe, which to me in its current form, is not a very good product. Nor is it 5G, which is mostly just vaporware right now.

Doesn't look too bad. Then you have to subtract $25 Swappa fee, 2.9% PayPal fee, and your shipping expense. You net about $60-$65 less than the actual selling price.

Save your money and wait for next year . There’s really not much of a difference and 5G is a joke right now

I just used Swappa yesterday, some of those prices you screened are desperate due to the influx. But, I'm sitting here thinking Apple offered me 400 or 450 for my IP11P and I paid cash for the IP12P. So I listed it on Swappa and grabbed 650 for it. I do have a great seller rating (trusted) there so that helps. But hell Yeahhhhhhhhh! Got the money now and its more than Apple was giving

Minus $25 Swappa fee, 2.9% paypal fee, and shipping. These things all figure in. If you're going to compare to trade-in price, you have to consider everything. People seem to conveniently leave these out.

I think the early released of iOS 14 caused many people to be in this situation. Now that we have iOS 14, our current iPhone feels like a new iPhone. Those upgrading from the 11 Pro Max probably won’t feel much of a difference.

I am going to upgrade to 12 pro Max just because, but i really don’t need to upgrade; the iPhone 11 Pro Max is a great phone.

I thought about upgrading but it is too costly in my mind for the improvements and factoring another AC+ plan that I already paid for.

Just get on the iPhone upgrade program. When a new phone comes out you either keep your old one or upgrade and continue paying the same monthly payment you're used to paying.

The fact that you called the cameras basically the same seems to imply you don’t want to upgrade. On paper this is one of the biggest leaps the camera has had in a single generation.

whether that translates to real world use is yet to be seen since there are no Reviews out now.

I buy a new iPhone every year so I’m not the best person to ask, but this year the new square sides would have been enough. This phone feels absolutely amazing in hand.

I can't find a reason to upgrade from my 8+. Surely you don't need to upgrade unless you like just spending money....

You'd be surprised how different the new style phone is compared to an 8+. I would guess that you would say "wow, what a complete waste of space the bezels and home button area are" on the 8+. That said, some people prefer the old design, each to their own.

i got the 12 pro on launch day. I am on iUP so new phone every launch since the XS. The reason i went from 11p to 12p is i like having the latest and greatest so the iUP program works well for me. That being said, battery life on the 12p is rubbish so far!

I want the 6.7” screen and since it’s two months late (approximately), it will cost me around $8 less per month on IUP.

It’s also being released on my birthday.

This doesn't make any sense. This is a forum for people who are knowledgeable about the product I'm considering buying. I did my research, but I want to hear input from others to be sure there isn't something I overlooked.

I doubt that this will be a compelling reason for you, but the new modems are capable of better speed on 4G LTE than those in last year's iphones. On the 12 Pro, I'm getting 2x to 3x faster download and upload speeds on LTE than I did on my 11 Pro Max (which was no slouch). I do not have a 5G plan, so I'm only accessing LTE.

I love the new form factor: it's been my favorite since the iPhone 4/5. It's much easier for me to grip and manipulate. The 6 through the 11 felt like slick bars of soap (I rarely use a case). I'm on the iUP, so I planned on upgrading regardless. I think that the cameras on the 12 Pro Max will be a very nice upgrade.

Still, I don't imagine that the above reasons will be compelling for you. Sounds like you're pretty happy with the 11 Pro Max.

This is the way I know I would feel if I purchased the 12. It won't be any faster than the 11 Pro (and I don't care about benchmarks because they mean nothing in day to day use), and it won't be a better camera. Yeah on paper it will be better but the difference won't be noticeable at all. Plus its going to have a worse battery than the 11 Pro Max. I do love the new form factor, but it just isn't enough for me this year I don't think.

The title of this post says it all. You don’t need an upgrade. If you did, you would not desperately look for a reason. You want an update. And that’s okay. I didn’t need one, either. I upgraded because the new phone is better and I wanted it. If you like it, and can make the jump, go for it. YOLO.
