So I made a thread a little while ago lamenting about my inability to transition to a modern monitor. I've been using a 2010 imac as my computer up until today, where it finally kicked the can. I've been trying to find a monitor so that I could upgrade to something modern. I've tried dozens with no luck until I finally figured out what the issues I have were.

Someone suggested dithering may be playing a part to achieve advertised 8 or 10 bit color schemes. I'm currently using "better display" while trialling a studio display again and it definitely makes a difference turning it off. But the biggest issue still, is that just about every monitor on the market, barring maybe OLED, have some kind of anti-reflective treatment that my old ass imac, or iphone, tablet, tv do not. I can use all of those things with no problem. I've tried the studio display, alogic clarity, countless high fidelity top brand monitors with high resolutions or refresh rates, adjusted color temperature settings, backlight settings, had my eyes checked, take appropriate breaks to stretch my eyes, proper lighting, but it seems the unifying factor that is causing me so much grief, is the anti-reflective treatment. The studio display and the alogic clarity are glossy, but they both still have anti-reflective treatment, which gives me burning eyes and fatigue. I do not even have to have the monitor on for my eyes to see the difference in the reflections on those screens and my 2010 imac. I have not even bothered with OLEDs because the text fringing alone is immediately a dealbreaker for me and using a television instead is not feasible.

Is there any world where I get around this? I need to be able to use something as a computer that isn't almost 20 years old. I even considered using a thunderbolt display, but they do not function properly on modern PCs and through my sleuthing read someone mention that macOS changed the way the sub pixel layout works on monitors, so it would be a poorer quality picture/text now if I were to connect it to a new mac. Any helpful suggestions would be well appreciated once again.
