I just tested driving a large truck over my iPhone 16 Pro Max and the screen cracked. So disappointing.

That would make it more prone to shattering, though.
Is it any better than last year? The same? Like yes I know at some point any glass will break when dropped. But was anyone able to demonstrate any evidence to support Apple's 50% stronger claim?
Case and a glass screen protector. Worked well for me for ages. I'm on my 10th iPhone and haven't broken a screen or back glass yet.
People who use these $1000+ phones without adequate protection are just asking for it, or must love paying for applecare+ and the deductibles during replacements/repairs.

It’s funny people are brushing off durability test videos on YouTube this year with 16 models. I remember the massive panic and trolling when Jerry Rig’s video came out on the 15 pro max last year and the back glass broke when he bent it. However, there were numerous other videos were the phone preformed better but they all were ignored for people to rant and rave, troll, and spew hate toward Apple.
But I guess since folks here deem the 16 models worthy enough any criticism from drop test videos are ignored. That's wild lol.
But meh I probably be the same way with the 17 drops if I don't crack and upgrade from my 15 pro max before the summer hits 🤣.

I went through a security check and accidentally dropped my 16 Pro Max on tile without a case- not a scratch on it.
color me shocked that a massive insurance company wants 🫵YOU🫵 to know that your phone is in DANGER⚠️⚠️⚠️ of falling and cracking…when it’s two panels of glass combined by an aluminum/titanium band…lol
I'm curious, I'm sure screen protectors are great for accidental scratches, but does anyone really know if they help at all for shattering due to a drop? Seems to me the same energy is still reaching the display.
apple should give the iphone the most fragile glass in the world if it can have extreme scratch resistance.
clearly all these advancements for cracking prevention haven't worked good enough despite fair improvements.

Anything subject to gravity is vulnerable to being dropped. I think what you mean is vulnerable to shattering.
How about not intentionally drop your phone all the time or put your phone in your pocket when you're carrying 10 other things and solve the problem I guess
News Flash, no glass was broken attempting the same experiment on the International Space Station. A NASA spokesperson said even Safari was snappier.
Frankly glass is overated as a smartphone material. I've seen a lot of new plastics now days that look like rubber and aren't even rubber at all. And others that feel way different then their appearance let on. It's a shame the ENTIRE high end market is dead set on using glass. They just don't know any better. I miss the iPhone 5 6 7 days HTC one M8 all metal unibodies. Oh no but the wireless charging coil! Jet-black iPhone 7? Just color it over the cutout. We already have these atrocious cases making a point of having the circle showing. Why not? Please? I mean apple just repurposed the 5G antenna into a camera button for God's sake. Either way yes I love the jewelry look but at some point this madness era of all glass phones has to stop.
