Biggest hardware in the world doesn't matter if your operating system is subpar.

I said "no hesitation"... im still with iP4 ;) I didn't get the 4S because it didn't offer much over 4 (im in Poland so Siri is garbage). Now i will get myself a white 4S (since the "new iPhone" looks butt ugly, LTE won't work... probably, same with NFC and with turn by turn navi).

re: the video, the finger gloves, etc.

After listening to the background noise, I'm starting to think this was a worker at the factory (why he's wearing gloves), that ducked into a room, shot the video, and then just returned the parts, went back to work.

Not sure how he got the video camera in the facility, assuming it's a phone camera, er, don't want to think +where+ it was smuggled in ... :D

It's wasn't and isn't likely to ever be Apples style to waste time on BS. Gizmodo got one sentence, the teardrop got nothing. Likely to stay that way

And even if this outer design is real, no one will risk being banned for life Giz style by booing

Though honestly, if I were a 4 owner (that skipped the 4S), I'd definitely do to this new model. Other than price, I suspect it will be better in some capacity you'd find valuable. :)

I'm actually thinking of getting a pair of these to replace my wife's 4 and my 4S +and+ moving to Verizon (from ATT).

Whatever you think, I appears Apple knows differently. On the other hand, you can just buy that HTC and let Apple be Apple instead of demanding it be Samsung/HTC/Google/DroidphonemakerMMXLIV. :rolleyes:

I don't own and haven't owned a single iOS device; I'm just sick of the whining.
 
The 3G to 4G jump made NO difference for my 4S with all the hooplah.
Should I expect LTE to??
I use it mainly 20 minutes from DC I thought we would get good coverage but I fail to see any differences that the 4G is suppose to help, oh the 4 on the display is cool ... so I got an F450 emblem for my F350. j/k

What's with people demanding a new design, any one who has followed apples history knows they never stray far from a design they are happy with, the iPhone 4 was there perfection of the original design of the iPhone. Just looking at the prototypes some have elements the 4 had however most likely these were left off due to expense and or difacultly to manufacture for the original release. Then as time went one and the money rolled in it gave them better buying leverage and allowed them to spend more whist keeping there margine.

The accumulation of this was the antenna band and glass, apple invested heavly in both of these. Just look how long it took to the the White version released, they are not just going to dump these.

What You are going to see from now on is a further improvement on this design. No radical change but small tweeks. The design we now have is part of the branding. It's instantly recognisable to any one just as the iPod was.

It's here to stay folks get used to it

Apologies - I used the term hardware liberally there, I'm really referring to the outer casing.

A subjective opinion. I never liked it, either the look, or the feel of the square edges. Functional - perhaps - if we ignore the antenna issue.

People are talking about design perfection. This is unattainable - but you won't get any closer by sticking with one divisive design for four years. The only explanation I can come up with is that Apple have hit a brick wall in relation to battery size for iOS 6 and can't split from the square look.

I'm sure there's hundred of products down through the years that were supposed to be design perfection. Now we look at them and chuckle at the size, shape and weight of them.

I upgraded from the black 4 to the 4S because i wanted a change > white
 
I don't want a larger phone

I'm kind of upset by this. How is the iPhone5 going to be better aside from being bigger? I've used the Samsung Galaxy 3 and it is HUGE. I couldn't imagine putting it in my pocket.

This very modest screen size change comes at the expense of making it look worse.

LTE coverage is mediocre in my area.

Developers will still be optimizing for the single core A4 for at least another year, so I won't miss out on apps.

NFC will be nice, but that will take a while to roll out, I doubt that will be useful for another year.

So, I'm left waiting ANOTHER year to upgrade...or moving to something like an S3.

EDIT: I forgot...I have no use for Siri, I already have Dragon Search...and it's nice, but I find myself using it only to show off the feature, usually I just type the search in.

Also, the new connector would be a pain as I have docks I regularly use and now would need adapters.

Oh, and one more: my big complaint with the 4 is that it isn't as nice to hold as the 3GS was. The 4s and now this new long phone do nothing to improve that.

When Apple debuts it in all it's glory with new features/finished design and posts videos/ads/high res screenshots on their website, you'll want it. Trust me.

I was asking that in the context of people who went 4->4S but are saying no way to the "5" (since the former upgrade was incremental).

Same case, size, display, resolution, display tech
Same instruments, gyro, accelerometer
Same Wifi (single channel N)
Same physical connector speed
Same FFC

BT 2.1 > BT 4
A4 > A5
RFC 5MP > 8MP (improved optics)
3G > 3G+HSPA

> Added Siri


Now where potentially looking at (of course these are speculation):

4S to "5"/new iPhone

The vide kinda enraged me. The guy was an idiot. First off, a screen is measured by it diagonal measurement, not H x W. And second, of course the 4s is gonna scratch with his idiotic scratch test. The 4s is thicker so the keys are gonna hit the protruding edge of the 4s every time he transitions from 5 to 4s.

dumb video was completely useless. I hate it when these people have access to these treasures and don't know how to properly test them.

Antenna issue? Do you really have problems with the antenna? You must be holding it wrong :D But seriously - I never see any problems, even when talking on the phone without a case. The antenna "issue" is small potatoes compared to all of the issues with Android as an OS.

As for "divisive design" - Is it really divisive, or are the iPhone 4 design haters just a very vocal minority? I can't say for sure, but based on sales I'd say that the design isn't really divisive at all. No design will please everyone, so if they found one that pleases a significant portion of potential buyers, there isn't much reason to change it just so it looks different.
 
If this part is not in fact a real part, but a leak testing fake, then I don't think this video could have made it easier for Apple to determine which fake it is.

To clarify, Apple sometimes has fake products that they have on campus. Certain people, who don't know they're fake, are entrusted with them and told to keep them secret. If that fake part then is leaked to the media, Apple knows which of their people are not trustworthy and are the source of leaks.

So it's possible that the part examined in this video is one of those fake leaks, and by providing so many details, it may be very easy for Apple to identify the origin of the leak, and the person who could have been a news/rumor source is removed, and we'll never hear from them again, thus Mac Rumors posts fewer things and we have less to talk about.

So this video could screw us all over, if the part is a fake leak.
 
Why does anyone care?? Measure a released product if it's so damned critical to compare.
