I can't see myself upgrading to this. :(

I have a 4 and was looking forward to upgrading last year, but the 4s is just too similar.

This very modest screen size change comes at the expense of making it look worse.

LTE coverage is mediocre in my area.

Developers will still be optimizing for the single core A4 for at least another year, so I won't miss out on apps.

NFC will be nice, but that will take a while to roll out, I doubt that will be useful for another year.

So, I'm left waiting ANOTHER year to upgrade...or moving to something like an S3.

EDIT: I forgot...I have no use for Siri, I already have Dragon Search...and it's nice, but I find myself using it only to show off the feature, usually I just type the search in.

Also, the new connector would be a pain as I have docks I regularly use and now would need adapters.

Oh, and one more: my big complaint with the 4 is that it isn't as nice to hold as the 3GS was. The 4s and now this new long phone do nothing to improve that.

These are all excuses. I too have a 4 and a 4S is a nice upgrade but whatever comes next should be better in even more ways. Your choices are pretty simple. Upgrade to the next phone or change platforms. Judging from this post it doesn't sound like you do much with your phone anyways.

What about "Don't change phones."?

I think making the iphone taller doesn't alleviate the problem that its too small in the width when holding it vertically. No ones likes to have to turn the phone horizontally to read webpages! It needs more width!

You mean "The new iPhone" or "iPhone 6". The 5th one came out last year.

why are people like in in every iphone 5 video saying its iphone 6? i dont remember when iphone 4s came out so many ppl saying dont u mean ''iphone5''? lol............. remember iphone 3 or 3gs yeah the iphone 3g was ''2'' and 3gs'' was 3 and iphone 4 was ''4'' and 4s was ''5'' leave it alone its gonna be called iphone 5 and the next one after what will be iphone 5s and then 6 and then 6s and so on

Longer is better?

Looks like length does matter. God, what has happened to Apple, oh wait, Steve Jobs is dead, dead as door nail, long live Steve Jobs !!!!!

Why can't they make an Iphone 5W, wider model and a regular iPhone 5. One for all the choppers on this site who feel the need to carry a large wide object in their trousers and one for the rest who probably wont give a flying kuf.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see how it looks and feels in the flesh so I'm holding judgement for now but you people have a right to be p1sssed.

Apple does not go by the generation numbers. Actually, the 4S is way more than the fifth iPhone.

The 4S is "way" more than the fifth iPhone ? How are you counting them, by individual SKUs or something ? Which one is it then ?

And Apple doesn't go by generation numbers ?

Faro... when are you going to learn not to make bold statements that you can't verify or are easily shot down.

If these were real... wouldn't the legal team be all over this and forcing them to remove the images. Didn't they do this in the past?

They don't because if they send take down notices to people showing off the real parts, then they would simply confirm the part is real. Much better to let the doubt tangle.

Right at the end he says "sex for your wee wee".

It certainly is!!

LOL! :D

LOL, I thought I was the only one that caught that. I had to replay it 3 times to see if I heard it right. I know thats not what he meant to say, but I still laughed my ass off.

You couldn't be more wrong about using my phone. I happen to view the iPhone as the most important technological innovation since the World Wide Web. It networks people, not just computers. It's a major deal and yes, I use it a little bit lol.

But you're right about my choices. I have plenty invested in Apple and generally don't trust Android yet, but--to me--Apple hasn't given me a reason to upgrade for two years now.

How many different ways are there to do a rectangular design. The current design is more than sufficient. Now it seems there will be some other material choices. These constant "change for the sake of change" is ridiculous.

Agreed. Maybe once the technology advances, though, they could make the iPhone look like those cool concepts I've been seeing.

Awesome that some people think each release of an iPhone model marks a major version number change. Imagine if Mac OS followed that convention... I couldn't even guess what release we'd be up to right now.

Antenna issue? Do you really have problems with the antenna? You must be holding it wrong :D But seriously - I never see any problems, even when talking on the phone without a case. The antenna "issue" is small potatoes compared to all of the issues with Android as an OS.
I did have an issue - but I've used a bumper for most of it's life so, meh.

As for "divisive design" - Is it really divisive, or are the iPhone 4 design haters just a very vocal minority? I can't say for sure, but based on sales I'd say that the design isn't really divisive at all. No design will please everyone, so if they found one that pleases a significant portion of potential buyers, there isn't much reason to change it just so it looks different.
Maybe, like me, people are buying it because of the OS. I'll probably buy the Longphone in September - but only because I couldn't face android after iOS.

I just wish they'd cater for MY design tastes, gorrammit!

I really think a 4:3 screen ratio would be better on the iPhone, but if they had to give it this 16:9 ratio, couldn't they have kept the phone the same height and used the empty space that currently exists on the iPhone to fit the screen?

If they shrunk the home button by 0.3mm (and perhaps move it down a little), plus use the space above the home button and under the earpiece on the current iPhone, wouldn't that be close to 4inches, without elongating the whole device?
Also by making it a little thinner, this would be a nicer phone than this "supposed iPhone 5", in my humble opinion...I am no designer (of phones)

thats exactly what i thought they could do on the currec=nt iphone from og to 4s to make the iphone 5 screen bigger they didnt need to make the phones body bigger just stretch the screen up and down and just make home button smaller and ear speaker higher and u could get 3.5 inches like this video or even 4

That's today's gadget geek mindset though. If it's not ground breaking and revolutionary every time, it's boring. Like Louis CK said, everything is amazing and nobody is happy.

I'm struggling to understand why they would just make the screen taller, and render a hell of a lot of apps and especially games useless/horrible looking. My game depends on maths at the screen width being 960 pixels. It's going to **** it up, or will they have a horrible black margin on both sides.

I've been trying to figure this out too. My guess is Apple will announce the new iPhone on 9/12 and let all of the App Developers know they can start submitting their updated Apps to work with the new screen by 9/21 or something along those lines.

Am I the only one who has had issues with the home button sticking in on the iPhone 4? Hopefully the smaller home area will mean more parts, meaning less sticky buttons with age.

They have the same design for 3 years now. They can definitely improve, if they don't it only means they're lazy:rolleyes:

dude the iphone hasnt really changed since it came out the front and screen size have been pretty much the same they have just changed the material and thickness of the back

these demos are horrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Listening to him is worst than nails on chalkboard
And what's up with those finger gloves?!

Overdramatic words, IMO. The apps won't be useless - they'll work exactly the same as they did on the previous phones. As for black bars, is that really horrible looking? Or just less than ideal? If you watch any videos on your iPhone now, they have black bars and no one complains.

Additionally, it won't take long for most app developers to update their apps to take advantage of the extra real estate. Things like facebook/twitter/Kindle/etc. will all have very little work to do to stretch the app to the full length. Games and other apps will have a little bit more work, but I imagine all significant apps will be updated by Christmas.

Yeah, maybe they will but to me it's the wrong move. So many apps won't get updated or will take ages to update. It just feels like the whole smooth and reliablity of iOS is being risked. I'd prefer to keep the current screen size than have a taller screen. However, I'd welcome a wider and taller screen.
