I'm now using Chrome 99% of the time on my PC laptop, ever since Firefox started crashing on me a few months back. I don't really use add-ons, aside from the Paypal virtual credit card, so basically Chrome is a faster and better browser for me. I find it very stable, very fast, the UI is clean and I love the search-address bar. I did try the Safari 4 beta and that was pretty awful. I hope it runs better on OSX.:(

I really don't see why it's taking GOOG so long to get up to speed with Chrome for OSX, guess it's not a priority for them?

Been using it for half a day now. For now, surprisingly good. In terms of polish, almost up to the Windows version. While it probably won't become my default OS X browser as it has on Windows, its still an excellent alternative.

Best part of all, from being completely turned off, to the time when it opens and is usable, less then a second. Can't wait for the final release, will be most excellent.

I've been playing with it since the release. Pretty rough. I do not think that Chome on OSX will take me away from Safari anytime soon, if ever.

I feel the exact same way. Doesn't have the same feel of sharpness that it has on Windows. Safari 4 is better right now in my book, and I have been compiling these for a long time to draw that conclusion. We will have to see when its all said and done though.

You know, reading these numbers (with IE's market share still being so high) made me vomit so hard, I dunno if my girlfriend will like the new wall colour.

Accurate indeed. Stats from a site I run:

Internet Explorer: 66.26%
Firefox: 25.85%
Safari: 5.68%
Chrome: 1.61%

Its upsetting.

I've never heard “smooth”, “interface” and “Firefox” all rolled together in one sentence.

Same here. Though I do like the way it handles PDF files over Safari. If I want Safari to crash, all I need to do is open a PDF. It's near a sure thing if I search the PDF.

The sooner I get chrome on my mac the better. I mean safari 4 beta is similar in ways, but Chrome just feels better to me.

Anyone know how to rearrange tabs in Safari 4 beta?? that has been bugging me.

Drag the little tiny way too small upper right hand corner of each tab.

Anyone figured out how to get it to work with an HTTP or Socks proxy? Are they are any command line switches?

I thought the whole point of Chrome porting to Windows first was because they would have a larger market share. But Google ended up with a small market share with all the Windows users and alienating Mac users by placing them on the back burner and coming up with a buggy version a year later. Way to go Google.

BTW: I like the Windows version of Chrome.

I think Google have too much influence on the internet and the web as it is, I'm not very keen on them having lots of browser market share as well.

Thanks, but no thanks...

If they insist in forcing you to run their stupid googleupdate daemon I'll pass on this. That's the very reason I never installed Google Earth on my mbp.

Or maybe a chmod 000 to their stupid google update binary would do... :D

Re

Tried installing this on the old G5 imac. Doesn't support PPC. *sigh of resignation*
Truly the beginning of the end.

My Macbook is currently getting some work done so I can't install this yet but looking forward to seeing the final version. I heard it's a much more secure browser than the other big three. Although, that might be because it's the newest one out.

I guess it's mainly the sandboxing, isn't it?

Chrome beginning to beat Mozilla Firefox? What a joke – Chrome barely installs on a Mac, let alone that it doesn't even run halve as smooth as Mozilla Firefox, not to mention the lack of add-ons. Yeah, your post was a pretty ridiculous one.

Its called reading comprehenssion. Anyways I'm glad chrome is around. it they get it to work just as good as it does on windows and they get good plugin support I will switch to it in a heart beat.

Firefox is becoming to cumbersome on my system, safari is lacks plugins. If chrome can deliver plugins it will be a great contender to any browser.

Google co-founder Sergey Brin even went so far as to call the lack of a Mac version alongside the Windows beta launch last year "embarrassing".
Typo?

Anyways, I've started using Chrome for Mac since its first release, it's gotten better with every update; it's getting around.

...Many Mac users have been looking forward to the public launch of Chrome for OS X...

Why? No really ... has the vertically integrated, spiritually holistic Mac experience with Safari and/or Firefox suddenly been disappointing?

Keep the chrome on the Chevy bumpers and Denny's diner decorum please. Do we really NEED another web browser?

I'm betting most of that is still IE7. Most Windows users I run across in dealing with clients don't even know IE8 exists much less another browser.

feel free to use brown paper bag...
