Doesn't hurt that macrumors featured the said app in a story yesterday....all of us downloaded it and then "oh an iad let me click this"

We didn't mention this app yesterday, although posters may have linked to it in the thread somewhere...I don't know.

Guaranteed its the novelty of iAds. In a couple months, their popularity will fade away, although they'll still be more popular than the static ads we see online at the moment.

I reckon the growth rates will start high (as they are), dip to AdMob levels in a month, and slowly rise again as the wider public understands the advantages of these ads over AdMobs. I know so many people that don't click on ads on their iDevices - not because they're irrelevant, but because they yank you out to a webbrowser.

It will take some time for people to understand that this doesn't happen with iAds, but when people do realize, they'll start to click on them more.

Anyone click on any other iAds besides the Nissan Leaf one? Im tempted to click them just to see if there are any minigames lol. An iAd developer would be wise to do so IMO

I just downloaded the App purely to see the iAd, but there is no ad there at all.

I get the button in the middle to activate / deactivate the light, and the other button at the bottom to initiate the strobe effect.

What do you have to do to see the iAd?
Does it make a difference that I'm in the UK.

Pops up randomly.

Im sure if you keep starting and stopping the App it will pop up...making him richer....

this success will only mean that developers will put iAds into everything they make, great...

Developers making money attracts new developers and causes them to create better applications at lower prices.

Ads are not a bad thing. Developers need to get paid for the work they do.

Customers paying for the app is how they get paid, for free apps I agree Ads are fine. Double dipping is not ok unless the buying customers knows up front and agrees.

I'm wondering if it's to do with being in the UK, as I don't see any ads either :$

I downloaded Tiptitude (http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/tiptitude-iad-supported-tip/id378981962?mt=8) and whilst the screenshots clearly show an iAd, I don't see them.

As an aside, read the comments on that app. People criticize it because they can't see the iAd. lol.

AGREE!! this could be a bad thing..

Why bad. I look at it as a good thing. That little banner on the top of the app does not bother me and I never click on them. What this means to me is better quality free apps supported by iAds. It's a win win in my book.

I wanna try one of these darn things, so I can judge whether I'll ever click on them again.

Can someone name a free app that uses them?
The free Xbox Live friends list app called "iNXES" recently updated to include iAds. The first time I launched the app after the update, I saw the Dove iAd for some kind of soap product targeted towards men, so I tapped on it out of curiosity. It wasn't really a minigame or anything; it was basically just an ad with a rich UI, the likes of which you might have seen done with Flash before.

If you're a developer, get on the iAd train now while the gettin's good. Everybody is curious to see how these things work, so of course people are going to click on them over the next few weeks. After that, no one can say for certain.

Wow... I can't believe his fill rate! The most fill rate I've had is 4%. I spent a few months writing what I thought was a great app.. so great I thought if it were free and I had iAd Revenue it would do better than a paid app. At 4% fillrate, I might have to switch my app to be paid.

Bread Krumb iPhone App

If this is the case, every app needs to be free.

Are you sure about that? Do you want to see every app take up screen real-estate by displaying ads on the already small display? Or would you pay $1.99 for a quality app that you use often?

I personally would much rather pay a small fee to not see ads in apps I use often, but I know some people don't mind seeing ads.

The opposite of this statement is true. iAds will only grow stronger. All manner of devs will implement them and the share of the revenue will decrease per dev, but make no mistake, this is only going to get bigger.

I expect a lot of $0.99 apps to go free with iAds, but have a $0.99 in-app-purchase to remove the iAd slot.

I wonder how iAd's will be dealt with on the iPad?

Will they remain the same size of an iPhone? Or we will get 9.7inch full-screen iPad iAds aswell?

Then don't buy the app. Most developers won't double-dip as they thrive off of feedback ratings.

Ok great idea for a app and since I am not a developer I am going to give it away. Someone should develop an app the just lists all the iAd advertisments available. I know i would down load that just to see them all in one place. How about you?

already tried and rejected for being too useless

Someone did, there is a story about it on 9to5mac, it was denied.

Bread Krumb iPhone App

I just took a look at your app. It looks like a great concept :) I have 3 questions about it.
a) can it alert when you leave an area?
b) do both parties need an iphone? Obviously for the "near" function you would (at least unless you made an android etc counterpart), but would my wife need an iphone to know what I arrived at work or could it actually text her?
c) just how terrible does this make battery life? If you had to turn it on each time you wanted to be tracked but then turn it off soon after u arrive at your location, then I could see it being too much of a hassle. On the other hand if you leave it on ALL DAY, I could see your battery dying in 2 hours. Maybe it pings your location for one second every few minutes?

Dangit! I got the app, because I think the flashlight is useful, but I do want to see the iAd. I've restarted the app several times, and sometimes when I THINK the iAd will appear, the screen flashes a couple of times and then goes black (but the backlight is still on). It seems like the iAd is having trouble loading?
