Ok great idea for a app and since I am not a developer I am going to give it away. Someone should develop an app the just lists all the iAd advertisments available. I know i would down load that just to see them all in one place. How about you?

already tried and rejected for being too useless

Someone did, there is a story about it on 9to5mac, it was denied.

Psh, I would totally use this app. iAds are fun! Of course I would only use it when I'm ridiculously bored... but hey, it happens.

Dangit! I got the app, because I think the flashlight is useful, but I do want to see the iAd. I've restarted the app several times, and sometimes when I THINK the iAd will appear, the screen flashes a couple of times and then goes black (but the backlight is still on). It seems like the iAd is having trouble loading?

try sycing to your computer. That is when iAds are loaded/updated onto your iphone.

Alright. I'm PISSED with apple. Just because they don't approve my ***** app within a reasonable amount of time I am losing HUNDREDS if not THOUSANDS of dollars right now. I submitted my flashlight app well over a week ago with Iads and it was free. This stupid-as* bozo gets his approved within a couple days and makes over a thousand dollars on it. This worst part about it--I can't do anything about it. I make a living off of developing for them. Flipping help me out. Jesus.

You make a living off of developing this flashlight app?

Two things:
  1. Clearly there is something about your app that made it require extra review time. Maybe yours sucks?
  2. Flashlight apps are NOT original. There are going to be hundreds upon hundreds of them in the app store in a matter of no time.
Maybe submit an app that is easier to approve quickly and you will be successful too.

If this is the case, every app needs to be free.

And developers can make more money than selling $0.99 app downloaded once, while ads can be clicked on many times.

Good for consumers, good for developers, bad for pirates.

Dude. Like you said It's a flashlight app. It works just like the other ones. It's not that hard to approve it. Even more annoying, mine is better than this one as well because not only is it visually appealing but also because it doesn't flipping crash because of iad.

We didn't mention this app yesterday, although posters may have linked to it in the thread somewhere...I don't know.

Maybe not specifically but you mentioned "a number of apps" and I'm fairly sure this is the only free one that uses the led. You helped the apps stats is the point I'm making.

All this means is the advertisers are overpaying for advertising.

Those numbers will change drastically as advertisers analyze them.

I know a lot about online advertising, and that is absurd. Suffice it to say, don't go learn how to make apps today thinking you are going to make 1500 a day in iAds.

Wow... I can't believe his fill rate! The most fill rate I've had is 4%. I spent a few months writing what I thought was a great app.. so great I thought if it were free and I had iAd Revenue it would do better than a paid app. At 4% fillrate, I might have to switch my app to be paid.

Bread Krumb iPhone App

Great theory, poor execution, it crashes FAR too often to be useful.

someone should make a morse code messaging app using the LED flashlight.

Type in your message, app translates to morse, and boom. Instant success.

Look at me giving you DEVS ideas. Please credit me with an in-app shout out if you make this.

Get angry at the onsumers for buying a 'phoe with suh a restrictive, arbitrary publishing policy where the only one guaranteed money is Apple. This should get more people buying your app ;)

this success will only mean that developers will put iAds into everything they make, great...

I know right. It almost makes me want to create a bunch of silly apps like flashlight and put iAds in it. $1400/day is crazy good money for spending 5 mins to create a flashlight app.

I'd be happy with $200/day for a few weeks just for making a flashlight app.

I actually already had this in the works for my FREE flashlight app that app STILL hasn't approved even though I sent it in over a week ago.

I'll take this a step further and utilize the rear camera as a sensor to accept and translate incoming flashing LED light signals to translate from Morse to whatever.

this "news" at MR will probably help even more the dev. and taint the numbers.

unless MR gets some $$ out of it?

I would never get angry at my customers. I have always been a DIE HARD (and I do mean die hard) Apple fan, but now Apple is making it really hard to keep liking them. I agree completely with your statement about Apple's publishing policy. They couldn't care less about developers. All they care about is their share. Just look at steve's iAd presentation. He says something along the lines of we care about developers, and they need to make money too. Only then does he announce that developers only get 60% of it. This poor developer really made $1,400, but only gets about $840 of it. Sad.
