I only develop for the Windows platform and don’t know much about developing for Apple.
Maybe it takes longer just cause they're pickier and ask for changes more often. Makes sense that it'd become that way over time. Also it's what I've experienced personally, but I only dabbled in iOS dev.no truth in review times always going up. apple has always scaled the staff up and down by using contractors along with their full time employees (especially during the holidays)
Sure. I'll go do something I have no desire to do to impress a stranger I'll never interact with again. Great idea!CJ give it a try see how it goes
Well, yeah! There's a famous QA video with Steve Jobs where a dev berates Jobs for cancelling whatever the old app framework was, and Jobs gives a great answer about why it had to be done... but I think he was wrong. Devs have always liked Windows much more, which is why things are made for Windows, which is why people use Windows.I’ve been fortunate that most of my Windows apps have have not had any compatibtaity issues with Windows for years.
As a developer: what was the reason? Two of our apps at work broke between the last beta and yesterdays GMs
Any developer caught off guard by this release only has himself/herself to blame. They had plenty of time to work with the betas and Apple announced yesterday’s event weeks ago. With the increase of frequency of beta releases, it was OBVIOUS that the full release was going to happen at the event yesterday. If you are a developer and weren’t ready, suck it up and admit it’s your own fault.
It's like being told a volcano will erupt tomorrow and then when tomorrow comes saying "Why didn't you tell me?!" when you see it smoking and blowing earth all over the place.LOL What? iOS14 has been available to developers since June...
Everything he said is true. The real expert here.

Yeah, I spoke to that in another reply. I totally agree, Apple, developers & end users should get enough time to make sure everything works day 1. My main gripe is how many people confuse NEED it on day 1 versus WANT it on day 1.Otherwise you get a load of **** from users about things not working, and remember that apps can be business critical as well, not only for fun.
What a bunch of whiners. Do people not realize developing for Apple is not the only career choice in the entire world? I realize complaining about the last minute notice on Twitter is not a super big deal, but lots of these same developers have been complaining for years about "Apple this" and "Apple that" and "30% developer fees" and a bunch of other stuff. If you don't like developing for iOS, then don't do it. And if there are legitimate issues, tell Apple, not the whole world.
If, as a developer, your app isn’t ready for iOS 14, it is your own fault. The beta is going on for a while for a reason. You do have access to the beta code and you should have been testing it on the newer environment. It never is supposed to be a night and day change shift should you had done your homework. Bugs might show up if you use obscure or undocumented features, but anything not falling onto such categories, or a tremendous bad luck, it is again you being lazy.
I had all my apps ready in between iOS 14 Betas 2 and 3, and afterwards it was just a matter to recompile them and run my compatibility, validation and regression tests. It was iOS14 GM ready before I went to bed last night and it is already online for users to download.
Don’t blame Apple for what you could had done yourself.
LOL What? iOS14 has been available to developers since June...
Release the app when it's ready. What's the ****ing problem?
Pfff I’m not upset I’ve had plenty of time since iOS 14 beta 1... Not Apples fault you are frustrated/not caught up yet. Look at how your teams/business handles SDLC instead
Maybe some developers shouldn’t wait until the very last moment.
I understand the frustration but also just deal with it. Get to work and stop whining on twitter.
