I think this is a BBC product not a BBC Worldwide product. Worldwide are the Commercial entity, involved with license selling and product sales, DVDs, BBC America, Netflix for example have deals with Worldwide, not the corporation.

If the BBC and Worldwide got together then iPlayer could certainly become a "netflix" like service, with a payment model for non-uk subscribers. Content licensing could probably be a nightmare though.

I'm not sure what you mean by them getting together as BBC Worldwide is already a wholly owned subsidiary of the BBC.

Any app that caters for users outside the UK will be run by BBC Worldwide as it's the BBC's commercial arm.
