iOS games converted to OS X? No thanks! Original OS X apps with competitive pricing? Yes, please!

Competitive pricing is key. I'm sure the Mac App Store will be a success, but apps can't be priced ridiculously. I hope developers don't plan on charging even more than they do for iPad versions.
If porting over iOS apps to the Mac isn't that much work, hopefully the price will remain low, and the sheer volume of sales will let these developers thrive.

Saw this coming way back when dashboard and widgets arrived.
A way to suck developers in, customers in, and leading popular culture toward Macs.

Plus getting a cut-back on each app sold? Priceless.

and competitive pricing means more quick sales for developers...easily.

I'm just pumped for the auto-updating, that alone will sell me some apps.

The Mac App Store will not auto-update, but you will be notified of all available updates and have the option to "Update All", unless I mis-understood what you meant by Auto-Update.

I would consider Angry Birds and Words with Friends (if they come to the Mac App Store), but other games like Flight Control and Plants vs Zombies will stay on my iPad/iPhone.

hmmmm flight control....that might come over to my imac too...lol but yeah def some stuff will have to stay on the iphone/ipad. its going to be interesting...but i have high hopes

It seems like the update feature is simply Apple's Software Update feature with third party software allowed access.

it would be nice if third party software not offered in the app store could use this. Some larger software packages might not be practical to offer through the app store but if the developer could get approval to use the update system to check that would be great. All software updates checked in one place!

Firemint Announced this shortly after Apple announced the Mac App Store, they said they will be available on or shortly after the Store Opens.

Call of Duty 6, 7, 8 for Mac!!!
Swtor, Guild Wars 2 for Mac!!!
Crysis 2 for Mac!!!
Mass Effect 3!!!
.....Halo Reach for Mac??

Lol, would be sweet though.

I guess I should just be happy with
Starcraft II, Diablo III, Civ V, Portal 2

This talk of developers adding HD support to the iOS apps before bringing them over to the Mac. I hope developers aren't going to actually advertise that as a selling point in their Mac App Store descriptions, "Now with HD support". 1080p may be a new feature for mobile devices when it arrives, but it's a standard resolution for computers with even higher resolutions available.

These lucky developers are going to make a killing. It pays to be first. I bet apps costing over $49 will be much cheaper as they will go for volume sales.

The Mac App store would revolutionize gaming for Macbook's......I can smell it. REMEMBER I SAID THAT.

JaSuS:D

I hope they alow a filter that lets you ignore all the crapy facebook like pay and wait games.

So in relation to the iPad... how do you guys see the AppStore opening? Dos this instantly mean way more resolution on the ipad (i was toled it needs to be at least 4 times as much to work properly)?
And how long will it take to have soled enough for Steve to be able to go "In just X we already soled xxxxxxxxx Apps on tze n3w OSX AppStore!!11" - You´ed think they´ed give this a cupple of weeks to settle in before doing a media event.. so talking about it will be more than just a rehash of the last event in that relation.

I wonder if there will ever be enhanced connectivity between iOS devices and their respective Mac App Store apps? For games, for example, I would love to be able to use my iPhone as either a secondary screen (to equip items, perhaps), a private screen for multiplayer games (that would hide some crucial information from your friends), or as a controller. That alone would entice me to buy a ton of apps!

I'd be interested in seeing what the app store is like & how well it does. I can see it doing very well. But hopefully, imo, not so well that Apple decides to make it the only place to get Mac apps as it stands now. The Mac App Store will be a good, central place to get the basic consumer-level apps, but I doubt we'll see truly professional-grade apps like Adobe Photoshop or something. But I'm not going to concern myself with that right now. I'm just going to wait and see how it goes and see what Apple does with it.

Why do I get the feeling that Apple's servers will crash or be very slow on the first day or 2 of the app store opening?

You have that right. I see that we are currently in the Vaudeville era of on-line app purchases. That is anyone without much qualification can get on stage, perform and see if they get flowers or rotten tomatoes. Some will hit the big time, a professional / delux version will sell via other channels with some developers getting exposure they otherwise could not afford.

I don't see this as doom and gloom for anyone except the damn warehouse middle man. Those guys just clog up channels, under promoted to claim they need more margin and can just die a long and slow death as far as I'm concerned.

I'm still hoping for iWeb '11. I looked at RapidWeaver and downloaded the demo, but it lacks iWeb's drag & drop functionality and WYSIWYG interface.

I wonder if they will release 10.6.6 shortly. Or just release the Mac App Store as a separate download.

i hoping separate download...
then I have less to worry about my hackintosh drivers

edit:
10.6.6 is required for the Mac App Store
Mac App Store will also be available through Software Update

oh nevermind,
and shoot

oh well 10.6.0 to 10.6.5 has been an easy ride for my hackintosh, with the exception of sleepenabler.kext in 10.6.3
