Did I miss something? Where does OP say he does not know the apple ID or password? Or are we implying that because OP's name starts with a 'C', and the Apple ID starts with an 'A', that it is not his apple ID?

I'm guessing we did miss something, since the OP has been edited since it was first posted.

username and password found

the reason i updated the op was i have found my apple id which i use on my other development devices, however i still cant get access.
i have several accounts as i need to test my apps. i have about 10 that begin with A. i do however love the comments saying that if i cant remember a apple id then i have stole the device. it was just the case of tracking down the right one, this is however a software bug somewhere as i KNOW that i have the correct information. anyway... where were you oh yeah accusing me of being a theif, carry on

ios6 downgrade

After ios6 restore after the verifying with apple it loads up the activation screen and its the same issue

In your first OP, you were very vague. And some of the construction of it leaned toward the interpretation that many had.

In your newly revised OP, you tell Samantha that you only have the one Apple ID and that that single ID is working on your other devices. In this post, you state you have several ID's.

Even if you have 10 accounts starting with 'a' (God knows why you need 10 accounts for development purposes), you would've by now tried every one of the passwords.

I'm sorry for the "bricked" iPad, but you, as a developer, should've taken note of which account you used. Now get going recovering each one of the passwords and trying each one.

1. New to macrumors
2. Has "10" apple IDs
3. Doesn't remember the correct one
4. All of a sudden it was "bricked"

All screams stolen device to me...

Bad luck. Hazard of running beta software.

There is a reason it's called "beta" - it is unsupported and may brick your device, kill your dog, and cause your toilet to back up.

As you agreed to in the developer agreement.

If it is truly bricked your best bet may be to get your receipt, take it to the apple store and explain your case.

So you have 10 apple ID's, all of which begun with "a".

You know each of these ID's but not the passwords?

Surely you would then go through the ID password reset procedure on each one, trying each one with a new password until the iPad unlocks?

Sorry, I don't believe a Developer would forget such information and I think you're clutching at straws. I don't believe the "call log" you added is real and I think you've found an iPad with a beta build of iOS 7 on it and have been stumped by Activation Lock.

And as for the "advice" of waiting until the 18th to restore to the public build? It'll do the exact same thing.

He only had one Apple ID at the start of the thread.

Samantha:
Alright is that the only apple ID you have?

christopher:
yes thats the strange thng about it

Perhaps they're multiplying

I agree. This is the great thing about iOS 7 - even if it is currently downgraded to iOS 6 the activation lock still sticks. DFU restore or any kind of restore will not let you past this...so good luck OP! Who has 10 Apple IDs, really! lol

This is very true. No restore including dfu will fix the activation lock. And even apple can't do anything to get rid of it. There are going to be a lot of "locked out" iOS devices floating around in the next year or so. But take for example the person who has my iPad now. I goofed by going right to dfu mode and not properly signing out now the new owner is stuck. Some good and some bad with this new activation lock feature.

I've always thought that for every thief thwarted by activation lock, there are going to be a great many more people trying to legitimately transfer ownership who get tripped up by it.

Seems like Apples Activation Lock is working a treat ;-)

Well done Apple, operation stolen "i" devices, sorted.

Adam.

You either didn't do DFU or you restored from
a backup afterwards.

DFU restores don't require password/appleid.
IOS 6 does not even have the advanced security options.

Lots of people confuse DFU and recovery mode

my guess is that once you put ios 7 on a device it changes its database entry in apple's servers requiring the apple id as part of the restore/activation process

----------

After ios6 restore after the verifying with apple it loads up the activation screen and its the same issue

isn't the latest version of itunes for ios 7 11.2 or something like that?

you said you had 11.0.2

what

don't confuse the CSR's

Digging up an old thread. I've managed to do the same with an ipad I have.

Is there anyway of activating it. Perhaps would a jailbreak do the trick?

Just hand it the ipad in to the police saying you found it in the park or something.

You have been caught out now be half decent and hand it in.
