I actually woke up this morning and found my MBA laying screen open face down on the ground next to my bed. Guess I fell asleep last night and pushed it off my bed. Kinda spooked me for a second when i picked it up and it wouldn't respond. But turns out it just got turned off somehow; still works like a charm.

I did. I have a 2011 13".

I had it in a laptop bag, nothing too heavy duty, but not totally chintzy either. I was in a hurry and had put it in the bag with the thin end at the bottom of the bag.

The bag slipped off my shoulder and hit the pavement. The MBA literally sliced through the corner of the bag. It now has an impressive scar on the one corner.

All that said, it was a free fall of about 3 feet onto a weak structural point and landed on concrete. The bag clearly offered no real protection. It still works perfectly.

Dropped my MBA on hardwood floor with a rug with the top part hitting the ground (the back of the screen(the side with the apple logo)):):) Its perfectly fine!!

Double bounce off an airport security belt (while closed). (2010 11" MBA)

A corner nick, which is all well and good (first picture) but it was the second dent in the bottom of the machine that freaked me out. It looks scary, but absolutely no problem with the machine. I did a backup immediately in the airport lounge in case of a delayed damage reaction, but nope. All good.

It does mean this machine is destined for only a hand-me-down future, though, as I don't think I could possibly sell it with this dent.

Wow... no need for Panasonic's toughbooks!

I think resistance to shocks is a well understated aspect of SSDs... How would have a HDD resisted to such a drop?

Drop from wheelchair

I am a quadriplegic I always have my MBA on my lap at home always very careful except the day grandson came for visit he run in to give me a hug well my new MBA 11" went up and landed on the wood floor. After everything settled down I checked it over no dents on my air just a dent in my floor and a scared little 5 year old boy.

The only time I've dropped a laptop was when I found this cool video on youtube and went to show my younger brother. While walking, almost running, through our kitchen thats tiled I almost slipped with my socks on and dropped my laptop. Good thing the laptop was just bought and i had the accidental damage policy from bestbuy, i returned it and they gave me a new one. I certainly learned my lesson. "Don't run with scissors" is not the only item that saying should apply to... lol.

The closest to dropping mine has been a couple of occasions when my cats knocked my MBA from the sofa to the shag carpeted floor (about 15 inches). No damage of any kind from that.

Interesting to see the damage on the MBA - my pre-unibody MBP took a hit not long ago - picked it up in its sleeve, but it was always a bit slippery, and dropped ~1m to the floor end on. Mad out-denting on the corner, which I'm sure unibody helped with all round, but especially the MBA which is barely think enough to open up with a dent like that. Still cringey stories :).

wow. If that was my MBA I don't think I could resist not doing an autopsy to see exactly what was under that big dent.
