The problem with the ceramic apart from cost is that it can also looks like ur wearing a gen 3

Apart from the shape of course....or it could actually be a Series 2 Edition. That would mean that any aluminium or SS just looks like a Series 0 because it’s the same material. Actually, the only watch you can say for sure is the grey ceramic, only a Series 3 for that bad boy! lol

The best watch to have would therefore be a gold SS. Yes it could be a one year old model but at least it definitely not a gen 0,1,2 or 3 :)

Big mistake making my partner sell her gold SS early in anticipation for the S5. Neither the TT appeals to her, she won’t spend on the ceramic and is considering getting the gold again. But given the little diff between the 4 and 5 she could have just stuck to last years and saved some bit

Why is that laughable? Some of us prefer to spend money on higher quality products. What’s your concern? You’re not in my will.

What’s laughable is that you’re worried about other people’s money and what they do with it.

Why are you responding in a defensive manner. You didn't read and understand. It's clear from my post that:
  • I DON'T CARE what people do with their money from me laughing about it. So you committed a logical fallacy with your inference that I am worried about what people do with their money.
  • I'm not concerned at all.

Could you post pics?

Here ya go... Those are all blemishes along the curved part of the screen. Was always cased and screen protected.

You must be doing something wrong lol. After years of wearing nice watches I’ve got a subconscious method of not banging my watches against hard objects. My 3 year old Apple Watch is in good condition with only a few hairline scratches on the screen and one or two tiny marks on the case. It’s about to sit in a drawer for 20 years now though as I’ve ordered a new watch. No point spending big bucks on a smart watch to keep it pristine when it’s a throwaway gadget.

I still think the titanium is easily mistaken for the aluminium from the pics and videos I’ve seen. I can’t quite believe it’s £100 more than the already overpriced stainless version too! Ouch.

Eh, it’s my job I guess. I cannot avoid hitting into thing with my arms, hands, wrists, etc... and I just don’t like when my stuff looks beat up. Bad combo I suppose.

I’m just of the opinion if I scratch it I scratch it. We don’t keep these things long enough to worry about keeping them perfect. The depreciation on the stainless models is shocking too and the titanium is a £100 more again. It’s all clever marketing and I take my hat off to Apple because it works beautifully.

That’s the real crux of it. I’m still on Series 0 steel, so it’s been worth it to me, and I’d imagine I’ll wear the Series 5 even longer. If I traded in every year, I might not go steel...although watches are a passion of mine, so I’d probably get steel, anyways. lol

I think the link bracelet is one of the great watch designs of the last decade.

Many thanks! I could live with that level of wear.

Nice to see tech that is hard-used and not prissy-perfect :).

Which screen protector did you use? Good you had it.

I’ve been into watches for years too and have loads of mechanicals. I just can’t bring myself to pay £700-800 for a watch that loses half it’s value in a year. It’s all preference though of course and if the price for the stainless was £100 more than the aluminium then I’d probably opt for it. I’ve found my AW has started to struggle through the day now with battery so I’m replacing sooner than I thought I would.

I aim to keep my watches for at least 3 years in-between upgrades, so that would work out at a cost of about £0.73 per day. For the amount I use it, I think that is reasonable.

It’s a watch. It’s worn on your wrist. Often hidden behind long sleeves or in motion because it’s on your wrist. The average person won’t be able to determine that it’s Ti because it’s 3 shades darker lol
The average person won't even notice anything but the fact that you have an apple watch. Regardless of any color or any price. I think we can both agree on that.

It's not about whether it looks like a Space Gray to other people. It's that it looks like a Space Gray to me and it's several hundred dollars more. I see no point in buying that when you could have the same look for cheaper. I was interested in seeing the black titanium at first, but it just doesn't look different enough.
but....it doesn't look space gray? lol it looks as black as the stainless steel. Its a very different black

same here, IM upgrading to Ti black 44mm, from a series 2 SS black 42

Yeah, since I don’t plan on selling them, it doesn’t matter to me. My four year old Series 0 will probably become a sleep tracker when Series 5 arrives.

Either way, when it comes to just about any non-smartwatch, anything more than a $9 Casio F-91W is probably more than necessary. :)

I went with the regular titanium. After watching the iJustine video and the CNET video, the titanium was easy to distinguish from the aluminum, at least to me. I love the look and cannot wait to see it in person.
No reason not to order the silver titanium as you can return it if it doesn’t meet your satisfaction.

anyone think the black titanium looks like the aluminum are silly. Check out this video. ITs like 20 shades darker than the aluminum. Its basically a stainless steel matte black

everyone that opted for the Stainless Steel because they thought what OP thought is gonna have big regrets
If they don’t like the SS they have 14 days to return it.

It’s kind a like when you buy a new car, I’m very particular about detailing my muscle cars (GT/Scat Pack), and when I come across a minor scratch on the beautiful black paint, I’m greatly annoyed.:D But I realize taking part ownership of a car, is also excepting the imperfections that will happen when you use it. Cars and watches Especially will show wear. It’s the nature of not being able to keep something perfect.

everyone is completely aware of apple's return policies.

Definitely not lol. I wonder why they’re making watches that look so close to each other. It looks like the Space Gray but with some shine.

My wife’s AW Series 4 is only 4 months old and she’s dragged it across a couple of walls by the look of it. She doesn’t seem to care though lol. As you say though it’s the nature of the beast with things exposed to potential damage. I’m quite proud I’ve not really scratched my Series 2 in 3 years.

Apple Watch virgin here.

I think the SS versions have a mirror polish so they would pick up and amplify even the tiniest scratches.
Space Black Ti looks great to me.

How good is the battery life on these things...if it gets worn out after 3 years or so, can you take in
and have the battery changed?

Also, can anyone say why the screens on these watches looks so glossy and reflective?
Or am I just imagining this?

There really is only one very important reason to buy SS or Ti over aluminum. SAPPHIRE! The rest is personal appearance preference, which is going to vary greatly. No right or wrong.

I ordered titanium black, I know what I get: lighter, stronger, look good for me. I do not care what others think about my watch. Going to enjoy my watch.
If I found them cheaper 1st 14 days, return and re-buy the same.
